Lilligant princess gets dirty

"You can't expect me to do...that?!" Lilligant squeaked, folding her leaves nervously.

"But...But you need training," her trainer, Black, said. He gave her a sheepish smile, that she always found handsome, especially for a human.

Liligant looked herself over, her petals were exquisitely groomed, and her buds were in perfect health. "No...No, I can't. I put a lot of work into keeping my body healthy, and something so ...violent...would not be good for me."

"But I need a Grass Type if I'm going to take on the Elite 4," Black responded.

"Well, why not use Weepinbell? You could even evolve him!"

He shook his head in response. "Seviper is already a Poison Type on my team."

Lilligant fretted. It seemed her trainer was dead-set on making her engage in...fisticuffs.

"Very well," she said dramatically, holding a leaf-arm over her forehead, " Do what you must...You barbarian...!"

Black looked at his Lilligant with a pained expression. He knew she had been some kind of...weirdo, when she was a mere Petilil. But this was beyond what he expected. He should have made her fight when she was young, instead of letting her exclusively grow through Exp. Share.

"Uh...Ok...I'm uh, gonna let your training partner out now." Black tossed an Ultra Ball onto the ground and Lilligant watched as his Scizor emerged from the ball.

"Why am I not surprised," she said mockingly, " A brute for a brutish task."

A sweatdrop formed on Scizor's forehead and he glanced back at Black, a look that said, "you're really making me do this, man? What did I ever do to you?"

Black was clearly flustered, but tried not to let it get to him. he thrust out his left arm, pointing to Lilligant, " Alright, Scizor. Use Silver Wind!"

The Scizor's wings began to buzz rapidly until they began to glow. Lilligant looked at the metallic mantis in fear, and then looked at her trainer in a pitiful manner.

But Black did not stop his Scizor, he simply yelled, HE YELLED....at her!...The nerve!

"Lilligant, you need to guard!", Black shouted.

Lilligant had no idea what she should do. So she simply tried a technique at random, which happened to be Sunny Day. The sun became bright and sweltering, and Black began to sweat. Scizor, however, was entirely unaffected, and blasted Lilligant with his Silver Wind technique, which radiated off his buzzing wings. The attack sent Lilligant flying and she smashed back hard against a tree. She winced. What was that feeling? Pain? That was not a feeling she was used to.

"I hate this!" her eyes began to tear up, "I want to go back to being pampered!"

"If you want to stay on the team, Lilligant, you need to pull your weight! Now come on, try something that will slow Scizor down!" Black shouted encouragingly.

Lilligant sat there, trying to think. She had never had to do this before. She slowly rose to her delicate feet. She was looking at Scizor and saw his claws were turning black. He was about to use Night Slash. That attack would finish her, for sure. Then, suddenly it hit her. she shot yellow powder out from the top of her head and it began to float through the air. Scizor suddenly began to tremble and appeared to be unable to move.

"Alright!" Black smiled, "Stun Spore! Good job! Now, fight back!"

Lilligant was unsure of herself still, but then she remembered she had used Sunny Day. Now she wouldn't need to charge what came next. A Ball of bright light began to form in her arms, and aided by the sunlight, it quickly reached it's full potential. Scizor's eyes widened, but there was little he could do to avoid this. Lilligant let loose a powerful Solar Beam attack, and it crashed head on into Scizor, enveloping the Bug Pokemon in blinding light.

Lilligant looked rather proud of herself...Until she saw Scizor was still standing...

"Good job, Lilly! But don't forget, he resists your attacks! Try again!" Black cheered.

Lilligant began to charge another Solar Beam, but now, Scizor had caught a second wind, and despite it's paralysis, it appeared before Lilligant and struck her full force with it's Night Slash attack.

The world went blurry around Lilligant, and she fell back to the ground. She caught a brief glimpse of the blue sky before everything went black.

She would wake to find herself in a Pokemon Center, on a stretcher, with Black beside her. He smiled upon seeing her, "You're ok! Thank goodness!"

"I'm sorry I couldn't win for you, Master," Lilligant replied, looking away, embarrassed.

"It's ok. I didn't expect you to win, Lilly. I wasn't expecting Scizor to be so rough, though."

She looked up, surprised," But why make me fight if I can't win?"

"You'll win, eventually, Lilly. But losing is part of learning, too. You can't always win your fights. But you gained plenty of experience with your own abilities from that battle. And you're stronger because of it."

"You think so?" she asked shyly.

"I do. And someday, I think you might even be able to beat Scizor. But next time, You'll train with someone that you have an advantage with."

"I ...Still really don't care for fighting. But it's Master's dream to become champion....and...And I would be honored if I can help make that dream come true."

Black smiled and gently wrapped his arms around Lilligant. She felt safe in her master's arms. And she felt warm, knowing she could be a help to him. Still, this was a long, unpleasant road ahead...But she would face it, with all the grace that was expected of her species.
