Controls

Q: When I start up a game it does not play?

Answer: The R4 cartridge may be frozen, restart the system and try starting it up again.


Q: Why does my game keep freezing?

Answer: The R4 cartridge is ran by emulation so this results in random freezing during gameplay. This does not occur in all games but its recommended that you save VERY FREQUENTLY to circumvent save progress loss. So this way if your game does freeze you can just restart from a recent checkpoint.


Q: How to customize or change R4i skin?

Answer: You can download customized skins from the official website then apply them in settings.


Q: Since the game list is pretty large and only 4 games at a time appear as I scroll through them, it can take forever to scroll thru the list. Is there a way to just view them in a list?

Answer: There is a “zoom in/out” icon at the left bottom corner of the bottom/touch screen. Press it to switch to the extended view mode. You can also use the left/right arrow button to scroll to the next page.


Q: How to return back to the firmware/kernel from Moonshell (multimedia player)?

Answer: Press the “Start” button, now select “Return to the firmware” from the menu.
Tap the “R trigger” button to go back to the main menu from the game list.


Q: How to enable game cheat codes?

Answer: First highlight the NDS game you want to apply the cheats to. Second, press the B button to go into the cheats options menu and checkmark each cheat you want to enable. Third, turn the cheats on for that game by clicking the cheat on/off button. Last, you'll notice the wrench icon will be yellow which indicates cheats are on. You have to press “X” or “B” to view the cheats. Don’t forget to press the save button when the cheat is on. Gold= ON Gray= OFF Please update the “usrcheat.dat” from the ‐SDHC official web site to support cheat function of new games.


Q: Stuck at the “NO CARD” screen after loading.

Answer: This means the Micro SD Card cannot be found. Please check whether the SD card was inserted properly into the flash card. Otherwise, the Micro SD card could be faulty.


Q: Stuck at the “LOADING” screen after booting the R4i Card.

Answer: Restart the game console and try loading again.


Q: How to change the language setting of the R4i?

Answer: To change prefer language, press “X, B” to select the “language” setting button which locate at the top screen (third icon from the top).


Q: Is this R4 cartridge better than buying the original cartridges?

Answer: It depends, authentic cartridges are very expensive so this is the most affordable solution to experiencing these games without spending hundreds on the originals. But the authentic versions don’t freeze as much so the overall gameplay is better than the R4 cartridge.














UPGRADE SD CARD STORAGE

•	Prepare one Micro SD Card which the capacity does not exceed 32GB. It must also be formatted to FAT32. You must then copy all the files from this Micro SD Card to the new card in order for everything to appear.
(Micro SD Cards 64GB and up must be formatted to FAT32 before they can be used. You can use the program EaseUS Partition Master Pro to format the SD Card. The website to download this program for free is here: https://www.easeus.com/download.htm. Select the Partition Master Pro option.

•	You can download new R4i kernel firmware updates from the official website: http://www.r4isdhc.com/r4-download. This version is the 3rd option from the top: “R4 SDHC GOLD Pro 2019 – Compatible V11.9.0-42 V.145” Once the update is downloaded, drag the files to the root of your Micro SD Card.

•	To install more games on your R4i Gold Pro Card, add any downloaded roms (.nds) to the games folder on the Micro SD Card. You can place the save files (.sav) in the same folder, just make sure to name the save the exact same name as the game.
