Takara, perhaps somewhat foolishly, leads the way through the initial area. He's spent a lot of time here, and figures he knows the way best...but after the first couple of corridors, he stops.

"This isn't right... It wasn't this straightforward before. Where are all the branching paths, the secret rooms..."

Danjuro:
"Heh, like all this extra space is stuffed inside a locker?"

Takara:

"I dunno, hidden, you'd think? You really complaining about a straight shot?"

"I could barely find my way around last time. But now it's...just a straight shot."

We haven't been REPEATING rooms, have we?

No, it's mostly been a series of corridors

There's not a LOT to distinguish them, but they aren't the same - different tapestries and artwork, etc

There have been a couple of offshoots but it's all just been a room or two

The artwork is all of pastures and fields, scatterings of grazing animals wandering about, feeding on the grass. On some, the pastures are dry and brown, while others flourish, lush with fields of grass and clear ponds

The grazing beasts differ too, from starving, malnourished sheep to healthy horses and cows

But you find it in the same place as before, noticeably more out of breath than you were the last time you were here. There isn't anything out of the ordinary. But when you approach the exit to inspect it, a deafening CRACK resounds as a blinding bolt of lightning crashes down in front of you, flooding the room in white-hot light! When it fades, the door is shuttered with a white net of electricity, and you can hear deranged cackling in the back of your head....

Danjuro:
". . . yeah. Doing this then, huh?"
Danjuro: (( baaack over here. ))
Phatthrice:
You continue through the eerily unwinding corridors, as though being herded. You reach what you assume to be the end - it's the first shut door you've seen, anyway. From under the bottom of this heavy wooden door glows a faint grey light.
Danjuro: (( good ))

Danjuro:
"Hey! Is someone there, or what?"

Danjuro:
"Don't give me this crazy laughing bullshit!"
Phatthrice:
A young, yet creaky, female voice ebbs out from under the door, "why don't you see for yourself... or you could stay there forever... i wouldn't mind that..."
Danjuro: (( I- that's happening on their end, isn't it? ))

"Err, it's been a while, maybe we should go check on him..."

The door opens up, and the fading grey light from it spills into the corridor. Somehow, it seems to make the area darker... a wave of depression rolls over you, dampening your exclamations of confusion at the light. "Come on....I don't want to do this any more than you do..."

Danjuro:
I survive, the door dies

Danjuro:
"Trap or not, it's the only thing in this place that's showing any promise!"

Danjuro:
"Hell of an aura, though..."

Danjuro:
"We came here to find out what's up, didn't we?"

Danjuro:
"Far as I see it, they want us to too. Why else would all the other paths be shut off?"

Takara:
"I don't like it...It's like this is an entirely different place from before."

Kaori:
"Well...let's just stay on guard, I guess?
Phatthrice:
You advance through the doorway, which hides a staircase, grey light cascading off each step onto the ones below like vicscous liquid. This, too, goes straight up, and you creep along it, careful not to make too much noise splashing in the dense light. Eventually, it leads into a hallway that actually SPLITS! Thrice, even. That distracts you for a second, but once the awe wears off, you notice the thin, willowly ghostlike figure in the middle of the room.
Danjuro: (( I don't know that we know enough people for it to NOT be Rio ))
Phatthrice:
The ghost speaks, still incorporeal, "so you came back...i thought there was only one of you.... i'm sorry...but i have to herd you in...you can't leave..."
Kaori: (( Can we make out who it is? ))
Phatthrice:
It forms sluggishly, bit by bit, as though barely coerced into getting up for school. But, eventually, it does indeed coalesce which is a word I am rather fond of

Danjuro:

Shadow Kodaira:
The solidified ghost's hawkish yellow eyes are dead, the only gleam coming from the glare on her glasses. A wan smile creeps across her face, and a broken crown sits atop her head. She regards you with a haunting mix of envy and pity, and speaks in a lost voice "you...too curious for your own good...couldn't you just let it happen like the rest of us..."

Kaori:
"Nyo..? Is that Kodaira-chan?"
Danjuro: (( I'm the king of nothing... ))

Danjuro:
"Is she doing alright there? She looks... pretty out of it."

Takara:
"I-...I don't know...She looks like she needs help more than anything."

Lethe:
Takara starts to walk towards Kodaira, to offer a helping hand, but Lethe stops him, "Hey!! What do you think you're doing?! The others I'd understand, but you ought to know better! That's not Kodaira! It's just her Shadow! If you get too close, she'll snap! IT doesn't matter how 'out of it' she looks!" Sure as rain, the grey light pools around where Takara was about to step like dull mercury, "See? Who knows what that stuff'll do to you!"

Kaori:
Kaori nods, "I know you don't really know her, but that can't be Kodaira-chan, new kid! It's gotta be who's behind this!"

Danjuro:
"You really think it couldn't be her?"

Kaori:
"Dunno why else she'd be here...plus if anybody would think of this school as a prison..."

Lethe:
"Well....it's her, in a way. Just a representation of her darkest depths. Did Takara not explain this to you...?"

Shadow Kodaira:
A whip of flame snakes across the ceiling, striking Kodaira in the back, "ah...yes... i'm sorry...but i can't let you leave... you're too valuable..."

Kaori:
"I wouldn't expect Danpachi-san to have been paying too much attention..." She looks back at Kodaira, "What's she doing to herself though..?"

Shadow Kodaira:
Two fire-branded wolves jump out through cell doors, melting the bars, and encircle you, "maybe...you'll get the same treatment as me..."

Shadow Kodaira:
Kodaira...turns and runs, as the wolves close in! "they will stop you..."

When the dimming light fades, Kodaira is no more - and neither is the wolf. In her place is a huge, grey puppet, directed by two hands forcing it to dance an unnatural, jerking ditty across the room.

Fire Queen:
"What can they ever hope to accomplish with someone like Kodaira dragging them down? She even managed to blunder with one of MY perfect plans."

Fire Snek:
The snek pauses, as if doubting its order, but ultimately decides it'll take any excuse it can get to stop throwing itself at Solid Water and Solid Dumbass
