  1. Once again finding ourselves outside in the warm July afternoon,Tsubaki and I walked off hand in hand towards our final destination. Our trek was spent talking more about our lives before, with the occasional silence as we enjoyed one another's presence, the fact we were in love poorly hidden as Tsubaki clung to me, her soft bushy tail wrapped around me. While she clung to me, I couldn't help but feel a peaceful calm, like the world had no problems. Nearing our destination, I pulled my phone out of my pocket, powering it on and looking for the quickest route to the theater. Despite the glare from the sun over head I was able to make out what was on screen and navigate, Tsubaki looking over my shoulder with what seemed to be a troubled face.

  3. "Can't go down Herod, that entire street is closed for construction." I said, looking at the available routes. "Guess we'll have to take a detour down Holstin avenue."
  4. Tsubaki spoke up, her voice tinged with reluctance. "I'd rather take another route, if that's ok." She said rather meekly.
  5. Tsubaki's sudden unnerved attitude concerned me, only seconds ago had her mood been cheery, "Whats wrong with Holstin?" I asked.
  6.
  7. Tsubaki was quiet, seemingly wrestling with some sort of inner problem. Realizing she was probably tearing herself to shreds inside, I held her close, gently stroking her head. Tsubaki seemed to bury her face into my chest, to people passing by it looked like a couple in a loving embrace on the surface. While she hadn't started to cry, I knew that going that way would upset her, but curious as to why she hated that particular venue I asked.
  8.
  9. "Wanna talk about it Tsuba?" I said
  10. Tsubaki pulled her head away from my chest, looking up at me sadly, her ears drooped. "It's...bad memories." She said, before burying her head in my chest again.
  11. "Listen, I'll go an alternate route if you want, but at the very least Tsuba tell me what happened to make you hate an entire street,"I said. "Someone hurt you there or mug you or somethin'?"
  12.
  13. Tsubaki mumbled into my chest, unable to tell what she was saying I just patter her head to comfort her. However, before I could pull away and tell her we'd take another way, Tsubaki pulled herself away.
  14.
  15. "My old company is down Holstin, a lot of them are." She admitted in a depressed manner. "I didn't want to go that way out of fear that a former employee might see me."
  16. I laughed, causing Tsubaki to glare at me, "that's it?" I said. "What are you afraid of Tsuba? That a former employee or someone you know may see you happy, with someone who loves you by your side?"
  17. "You're right Anon," she said with a sigh. "I'm being silly aren't I?"
  18. Kissing Tsubaki gently on the forehead, I reassured her,"Far from it, we all have worries, right?" I said, squeezing her tight, "what's in the past is in the past and we need to focus on the future."
  19.
  20. Offering the crook of my arm to Tsubaki, we walked off down towards the theater, our conversation retaking it's prior upbeat mood.
