  1.
  2. “I’m going to leave now.”
  3. “Have you eaten your breakfast yet? You can’t go with an empty stomach.”
  4. “Yes I have, it’s getting pretty late so I’m leaving.”
  5. “Take care! (I wonder what I should cook for dinner…)
  6. “I have 10 minutes left before school starts, I have to run it.”
  7.
  8. Ritsugou stretches his bones and body. Then after, he starts running at full speed with heavy breathing.
  9.
  10. “I must hurry up, 9 minutes left before school starts.”
  11. “Huh? A cat stuck in a tree?”
  12. “Hiro-chan! Get down from there, it’s not safe there!”
  13. “Looks like she needs some help.”
  14. Then Ritsugou climbs the tree to fetch the cat, and gives it to the owner.
  15. “Thank you, mister!”
  16. “That took most of my time, but I couldn’t help but to help, it’s what I am.”
  17. “Ritsugou? Why is he running...? Hey Ritsugou, why are you running?
  18. “We have a few minutes left until school starts, you should run too!”
  19. “A few minutes?”
  20. “I’m tired, it’s about 5 minutes left.”
  21. “I need to rest and catch my breath. It’s no use; I’m going to be late at this rate.”
  22. “Kaa! I can’t give up yet!”
  23. “4 minutes…”
  24. “3 minutes…
  25. “I’m almost there!”
  26. “1 and a half minutes…”
  27. “30 seconds!”
  28. “I can see the school!”
  29. “5…”
  30. “4…”
  31. “3…”
  32. “2… I’m almost at school!”
  33. “1…”
  34. Then Ritsugou trips and face plants into the ground, making a sad face.
  35. “Huh? Ritsugou? What’s this about?”
  36. “It was getting late… and there was just a little time left until I’m late so I ran.
  37. “But luckily, you guys are late too; at least we’re late together.”
  38. “Late? What are you saying? It’s 10 minutes before school.”
  39. “Eh. I see.”
  40. “Come on let’s go to our class.”
  41. Then they entered their classroom and waited for school to start.
  42. “I can’t believe I set my clock wrong, I could’ve died. I guess it can’t be helped.”
  43.
  44. 4:09 P.M. came. Ritsugou worked all day and tried help around the school and in the end, he was exhausted.
  45. “Ritsugou, let’s go home together.”
  46. “Oh, can you wait? I’m going to help around my club; there are errands that I have to do apparently.”
  47. “Let help too. I can’t leave you going home alone.”
  48. “We’ll go home, there’s homework to do so I have to finish that quick.”
  49. “See you tomorrow!”
  50. “So where’s this club of yours?”
  51. “Thank you so much Ritsugou-kun for doing this!”
  52. “No problem, I just want to repay what you did for me, president.”
  53. “I’m leaving now!”
  54. “So we have to carry all of this, what an errand.”
  55.
  56. 4:31 P.M. came. Both Ritsugou and Ikagami are overly exhausted and fatigued.
  57.
  58. “Huff! We’re finally finished; the Reader’s Club is pretty engaged in this stuff. Let’s head home now.”
  59. “Yeah!”
  60.
  61. Ritsugou and Ikagami both left the school and headed home to finally to their homework and studies.
  62.
  63. “Life here is really hard, so much work to do. We’ll I just have to accept the fact. I wish we moved to another foreign country.”
  64. “But even though you’re good at school, you still complain.”
  65. “Man, life can be unfair sometimes. Ritsugou, have you heard? They’re releasing the sequel to Infini-dungeon this year! I can’t wait!”
  66. “Oh really? That game was hard to accomplish, hence the name.
  67. “Yeah, and the sequel is apparently going have a better and initiative story, more boss battles, immersive aesthetics and a lot of design changes from before. Satou is having a change of clothes, the villagers are…”
  68.
  69. While Ikagami is blabbering about a game, Himokoto turns back, and stares into the far road, looking into the dull sky, thinking of something…
  70.
  71. “This world is truly precious, but life is really getting intense… the things we lost…”
  72. “…and finally a massive change in the staff with— Ritsugou?”
  73.
  74. Ikagami turns his back and sees Ritsugou starring into the sky…
  75.
  76. “Ritsugou? Is there something unusual? What are you looking at?”
  77. “Ah Ikagami! It’s nothing; I just gaze stupidly sometimes when my head is getting fuzzy…”
  78. “Is something troubling you? You can tell me your problem; I’m your friend, right?”
  79. “I told you it’s nothing… eh… look! Tape on the ground! I’ll pick it up… w-woah! This tape looks so cool!”
  80. “Really? Let me see, it does look cool.”
  81. “This would come in handy, in the bag you go.”
  82. “Let’s continue to walk, shall we?”
  83. “Hold on a minute, don’t expect me to be fooled by this.”
  84. “Eh, really? Look at time! It’s getting late! I have to run home now! See you!”
  85. “Stop it right there. You’re not leaving until you answer.”
  86. “So that’s what’s troubling you. Those evildoers have killed a lot of people in the past. It’s something that we can’t ignore really. They’ve become something so powerful, but don’t worry, I heard that some agencies are trying their best to protect us people and successfully doing it. Don’t let it bother you, and instead, let’s cheer them on.”
  87. “I see your point. I’ll try, I promise to do it.”
  88. “Good!”
  89.
  90. They continued to walk and after a while and suddenly, something landed.
  91.
  92. “So have you studied that much?”
  93. “Yeah, I seem to be improving in my grades. I should thank “you” for doing this. You’re the reason that I got into liking reading books.”
  94. “It’s no problem. Hey have—“
  95.
  96. A loud crash and strong vibration occurred…
  97.
  98. “Guwaah! Is there some kind of earthquake happening?!”
  99. “I don’t know, but something’s coming…”
  100. “Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh…”
  101. “It’s a… It’s a… a monster!”
  102. “Die.”
  103.
  104. The monster slaps the ground where Himokoto but Ikagami saves him by pulling him away.
  105.
  106. “This is no time to be gazing unintentionally!”
  107. “What should we do?!”
  108. “Run the heck out of here!”
  109. “I must… finish… business.”
  110.
  111. The monster then jumps away towards the unknown…
  112.
  113. “Huff puff, huff puff, I need to catch my breath. Thank goodness we’re alive. I can’t believe we faced a monster in real life.”
  114. “You were a real hero back there, you were so cool! Thank you for saving me.”
  115. “Yeah, we could’ve died. Ritsugou, we shall not speak of this, I don’t want our families to be worried. I’m going this way, see you then…”
  116. “Yeah. Bye bye! (Man, Ikagami is a hero too! I really want to be a hero too!)
  117.
  118. “I’m home. I’m really beat up today…”
  119. “Welcome back home. Eh? What happened at school?”
  120. “Just crazy stuff, that’s all.”
  121. “You should take a bath; I’ll prepare one for you.”
  122. “Thanks, I’ll be in my room doing my homework.”
  123.
  124. Then Himokoto entered his room, and he directly jumped onto his bed to rest.
  125.
  126. “Muuuuuhhhh! I’m so beat up. No, I can’t relax yet, I have homework to do.”
  127.
  128. Then Himokoto did his assignment…
  129.
  130. “Himokoto! Your bath is ready! Hurry up before it gets cold!”
  131. “Okay! But first, I have to finish my homework. I must make haste!”
  132. “Done… I’m totally tired at this point. I’ve used up all my energy. And there’s a relaxing bath waiting for me… here I come!”
  133. “Ahhhhhhh…. That is so soothing. I could stay in this bath forever.”
  134. For a while…
  135. “I don’t mind if I sleep now… *dips into water*”
  136. “BLUB BLUB! HUWAH! Hu hu hu… I really need to take a rest.”
  137. “These look scrumptious! Mom, did you make all of these?”
  138. “Yes, I did. Come on, let’s eat dinner.”
  139. ““Thank you for the meal!””
  140. “This meat… Yum! Why did you make today special?”
  141. “You seemed all tired, so I went all-out on making these. And do you want to know how I made these, it--”
  142. “It’s okay I know! (My mom’s going to tell a reason why I must be cautious in my future days again…)”
  143. “You really know how to cook! It’s like I’ve fallen in love with you again, Uchikou.”
  144. “Oh you…”
  145. “News from today state that a monster appeared out of nowhere, attacking the city and the forces claim that it is dead; with the corpse near the Houkai bank. The monster seemed to have destroyed some roads, buildings and homes. Neither injuries nor fatalities were issued. Some witnesses state that a flying human defeated the beast but this is not yet confirmed…”
  146. “(It’s that monster from before… someone defeated it… so cool~!)”
  147. “Ah! I’m famished; I can finally sleep now…”
  148. “Don’t forget to do your hygiene!”
  149. “Ah… wait before I forget… my clock’s been set properly now, I can now have more time… yaaaa… wait… I need to do something else.”
  150. “Now that I have tape, I can stick together the pieces of my test paper…”
  151. “Tadah!! It doesn’t look perfect, but at least it’s together.”
  152. “Now… to sleep…”
  153.
  154. The next day came to be.
  155.
  156. “I wonder what’s for breakfast. Wait, what? My test paper is perfectly intact but how… just yesterday, it was ripped into pieces and then I just taped it… maybe I was blind. This tape could come in handy; I’ll put it in my pocket then.”
  157.
  158. “Mom, is breakfast ready yet? I have too…”
  159. “She’s not here… and she left a note…
  160. >> Himokoto, I’m off to buy more ingredients and food stuffs as I used almost everything yesterday. Eat the breakfast I prepared for you and take care of yourself. Also read this book I left so you can know about your future--<<
  161. “Riiiippp! Mom, stop it. You’re obnoxious all the time about me getting successful. ”
  162. “Himokoto, promise me that you’ll become successful.”
  163. “Okay, but how?”
  164. “Studying and staying in school of course! You’ll do that, right?”
  165. “But that’s too much work.”
  166. “I’ll tell you what the benefit of being successful is; you have a high chance of being rich, you get to help people, you can almost do anything you want! And it’s just by studying!”
  167. “Okay I’ll study.”
  168. “Mom, I’m going to play outside with my friends tomorrow.”
  169. “Himokoto, wait, let me tell you a story about what successful gets you and how to become it. It all starts… mutter mutter…”
  170. “Hanako-san, you’re the most wonderful person I’ve met in my life.”
  171. “Y-you too, I feel like… anyways… uh… I have to go now.”
  172. “Huh?”
  173. “Hmmm…”
  174. “I wonder what Ritsu— Mrs. Ritsugou?! What brings you here?”
  175. “I have a proposition for you… *money*”
  176. “Hanako-san, will you… will you go out with me?”
  177. “I’m very sorry Ritsugou-kun!”
  178. “But… why…?”
  179. “Ritsugou-kun, keep on studying okay! You don’t know when you’ll be successful.”
  180. “Keep on… studying? That sounds like… MOM!”
  181. “That woman… pushing me to be successful when already I get it… she’s overly concerned about my future days.”
  182. “Good morning!”
  183. “Oh, Ritsugou. Good morning too.”
  184. “Fight on! Fight— kuh!”
  185. “Hora! Are you okay?”
  186. “Gah… I think I hit a sharp rock when I tripped… fffffff… it hurts.”
  187. “You’re bleeding; let’s wash it off clean.”
  188. “I’ll get the bandages!”
  189. “Oh? Wait, *puts tape on scratch*”
  190. “What do you think you’re doing?!”
  191. “I’m just curious… that’s all.”
  192. “Well I can’t remove it now since it’ll hurt when I do it.”
  193. “Here.”
  194. “Seriously, this isn’t child’s play— there’s no wound. Huh. You must have quick regeneration I guess.”
  195. “I think the tape healed it.”
  196. “What? No, that would be most unlikely. That tape, isn’t sterile. It doesn’t have any healing capabilities. Hora here is just a healthy boy.”
  197. “Let’s continue.”
  198. “I’m back home.”
  199. “You seem normal today. I guess there wasn’t crazy stuff today.”
  200. “I’ll be in my room, okay!”
  201. “This tape is heroic. I wonder what capabilities it has.”
  202. “Shredded paper. I’ll leave for now. I’m back— whoa! It’s a little bit fixed.”
  203. “Broken pencil. Tape. Bathroom break. I’m back— ho! It’s perfectly intact.”
  204. “Scars. Hmm… it’s gone!”
  205. “So it can fix back what’s been destroyed. But it must be positioned properly in order for it to go well.”
  206. “But can it stick things together, like normal tape?”
  207. “Paper and paper. It works?!”
  208. “Poster and wall. It’s stuck.”
  209. “What if… pencil and skin— no, that’s a bad idea.”
  210. “So it also sticks things together, no matter what it is. I also know that the tape applied disappears gradually from time to time.”
  211. “Maybe I can be a savior with this tool. Yes! That’s it!”
  212. “A life of a hero, it’s what I always wanted my whole life, now in the grasp of my hand…”
  213. A montage of eating dinner happens and…
  214. “I wonder what good I could do with this… snore~.”
  215. “Wha… who’s there…? A cute girl… here on my bed… eh? (AHH! A SUCCUBUS!)”
  216. “Ah, you’re awake Ritsu—”
  217. “Dah! Get away from me! Succubus-san, please get away! I’m not yet old enough to do such inappropriate actions! Even so, I cannot do it! (I cannot be seduced by the evil.) Please leave and never come back again!”
  218. “Succubus? Inappropriate? What do you mean by that? I just here…”
  219. “*slaps hand closing in* No no no no no no! Get away!”
  220. “Tsh… this guy.”
  221.
  222. Ritsugou leaves the room and the house after being scared.
  223.
  224. “I can tell her power is affecting me! This is bad.”
  225. “If she is following me, I can send her out here and I can return back home safely!”
  226. “Hey, wait I have to tell—”
  227. “EEK! YOU MONSTER!”
  228. “Monster— Hey wait! Tsh! This guy is pissing me off…”
  229. “Hah! I outran a succubus, with a yukata?”
  230. “Wait… a yukata means she’s from, heaven! Oh no, that either means I’m dead or I’m being sent away right now! This also means that I will not have the chance to make my dream to be a hero true! I’m straight-up doomed!”
  231. “You half-assed bastard…”
  232. “Eek! Or from hell! Either way, I’m in a whole lot of trouble.”
  233. “You, please don’t take me away from this world! There are things that I still have to do in my life! Please don’t!”
  234. “You really think that, huh? You stupid bastard! *smashes Himokoto* Die! Die! Die!”
  235. “DDDDIIIIIIEEEEEE!!!!”
  236. “She’s really from hell.”
  237. “Heh… huh!? The demon—”
  238. “Shut the heck up. Jeez, you’re such a rude and dumb bastard than I thought you’d be. Anyways you bastard…”
  239. “Excuse me; I’d like to be called by my name: Ritsugou.”
  240. “Are you the one to be followed?”
  241. “Eh… I just think that it would be disrespectful if—”
  242. “What right do you have to be obeyed? Huh? Shut your mouth then!”
  243. “I’m very sorry ma’am; I am the one who’s been rude.”
  244. “Alright, let’s move on… I am here today to tell you that you are a chosen person to be a Kaimi! And as a Kaimi, you need a mentor. And that person is me: Koufu, at your service.”
  245. “Huh? What’s all of this of a sudden and a kaimi? Do you mean that?! It’s not what I think it— Ouch! Ow ow ow!”
  246. “There you go again, jumping to conclusions straightaway. Oh, why did I have to be assigned to this bastard? So Ritsugou-san, let me explain. A Kaimi is a title for a person who deserves a special tool and they shall use it to protect humanity in secrecy.”
  247. “And the tool given to you is that tape.”
  248. “This? This is a tool? But why tape and why did you send this to me?”
  249. “Our leader has chosen you because of you. I don’t know the ulterior motives behind such but all I know is that you had done virtuous things. And that is why he had chosen to oversee you if you’re worthy or not to keep such item.”
  250. “But why just now? I’ve been a good boy, right?”
  251. “I cannot answer that question completely but our leader hath said “Everything needs time.”
  252. “So why are you here again?”
  253. “As I said, I was assigned to you as a mentor that’ll teach you how to use that tool and to maintain your heroic acts as well as other lessons. If you fear that this will get in the way of your studies and personal life, you can choose to leave.”
  254. “Now Ritsugou-san, do you agree to be a Kaimi and protect humanity at all costs?”
  255. “(This is now my chance to become the hero I’ve always wanted to be.) Yes, I agree!”
  256. “Very well, you are now a Kaimi, Ritsugou-san! But you’re not yet finished with your registration.”
  257. “Huh? Why? I was so happy…”
  258. “Your parents must be interviewed and they have to sign a consent form or else you may not enter and you have to name your tool also.”
  259. “I can name my tool now! How about Ultra-Bond! No. How about Korosu-sama! No. Hmm… something hit my head, I’ll think about it later.”
  260. “Now my parents… I think this is going to be impossible. Huh? My parents have to know about this?!
  261. “Yes, without your parents’ permission, you are not allowed to be a qualified Kaimi. I think they implemented it so that parents would be responsible for any loss, but that’s just a rumor I think.”
  262. “Really? I’m not a kid anymore, I’m a grownup—”
  263. “*bonk* Rules are rules you stupid! You say you’re a grownup but you still act like a kid. Just do it if you want to get in.”
  264. “I’ll talk to them about it, Koufu-san. Where do you usually stay Koufu-san?”
  265. “(I usually stay at the headquarters when I’m not working, but I also usually sleep in with the person I’m with but…) Just call me if you’re ready; here’s my number.”
