1. [Remember: unless specified otherwise, mainline games only for all questions in the hunt.] It's a completely uneventful afternoon one day. You're lazing around, and get the idea to play some more Pokemon, deciding to start with the first generation, and choose Pokemon Red. After playing for a while, you've just beaten Erika and are cruising along Cycling Road to Fuchsia to challenge Koga. Since you notice the Scavengers room has a hunt about an afternoon more eventful than yours, you save your game there, leave the GameBoy aside and check it out. Meanwhile, your brother walks into the room, picks up your GameBoy and starts a new game, without deleting the save file. Being a great player, he's able to get through most of the game, taking the long way around Kanto to beat Koga before you can even finish Q1 of the hunt.  However as he heads to Seafoam, he realizes that he can't surf outside of battle! What non-glitch item does your brother need to use in some capacity to let him use Surf outside of battle? | escape rope |

2. Your brother laughs again, wondering how he could forget something so simple. As you struggle with the next question in the hunt, he picks up a DSi and begins playing a rogue-like Pokemon spinoff game. At some point, he notices a Gengar being able to use Quick Attack, among other moves. "Damn, this is totally a new meta. You'd never guess the other two illegal moves on this thing.", he remarks. 3. Finished with Blue Rescue Team, your brother swaps the cartridge for HeartGold, and begins planning a fun challenge. Knowing Mt. Silver with its near-eternal hail is home to the legendary trainer Red, he thinks deeply about that area and interjects; "Pop quiz! At Level 5, there are certain Pokemon that can survive hail damage for the longest time without abilities or recovery of any sort, or being an Ice type. Try finding the which one of those has the lowest base HP for me, yeah? As for EV's and IV's? Upto you, go wild!" Having played these games often, you know them like the back of your hand. 4. Astonished by your mastery of the game, he remarks "Wow, with that level of prediction I wouldn't be surprised if you were on par with a World Champ like Ray Rizzo." You smirk, and say that you could put that statement to the test in-game and set about teambuilding, swapping out HeartGold for Black 2. Ignoring the effect of abilities, name all FE Pokemon that could hit the most of Ray's Pokemon for super effective damage with either one of their STAB moves. 5. After a grueling match with Ray, the battle ends in your defeat. "Remind me again why you thought Wormadam was a good idea to use against pseudo legends..?", he inquires. "Bullshit, I only lost from a crit!", you scream as you angrily put down the DSi. Your brother then thinks of a good way to calm you down. Handing you a 3DS, he remarks "Hey, remember that group of islands where our Pokemon could get stronger or improve their stats just by drinking? It even had hot springs to relax in. Wish those were around in real life, haha. " You pause for a moment  and remember relaxing times spent there as well as the proprietor of those islands, a kind man with blond hair. However, memory eludes you and you wonder; what was this place called again? | poke pelago |

6. The bizarre concoctions of Poke Pelago bring a smile to your face. You think of the perfect drink that could accompany the Pelago mix; and remember a time playing LeafGreen where you learnt about an Onix's favorite drink. 7. After a relaxing time spent drinking lemonade and juice, your spirits are restored. You decide to have another friendly competition with your brother, this time challenging him to beat Pokemon Y in less time than you beat Pokemon X. Of course, you exchange friend codes with him to keep track of each other's progress and are both online. With a desire to play optimally, as if a speedrunner would, you plan to catch only three wild Pokemon[not a gift or trade] along the way. What are they? (alpha) | bunnelby, hawlucha, xerneas |

8. Thanks to your planning, you speedily defeat AZ, watch the credits roll and look back at your brother, who has only beaten Ramos so far. He laughs, "Well, it was a given that you'd win ever since I noticed how ahead you were. I just started missing the old games and before I knew it I was looking around in various places for a Tangela, and never ended up beating the game.". Pondering about this, you swap back to your GameBoy, and put in Pokemon Gold, with a plan to surprise your brother with 30 freshly caught Tangela. However, since you accidentally left that cartridge out in the rain years ago, you can't identify any details about your Pokemon! 9. "Oh! That's a whole box of Tangela I see. Glad to know you shared my enthusiasm. Anyhow, since you've got so many of them, let's have a small battle, me using Silver of course. Since I know your Pokemon, here's a hint on mine. I'll use a fully evolved Pokemon that learns the weakest grass move, the fourth weakest water move, and is weak to both of them." You're sure you have this in the bag, with your Mega Drain Tangela at the ready...until Donphan sets up a Defense Curl and proceeds to wipe out your party of Tangela with a swift series of Rollout attacks before you notice it. "You really should've seen that coming, huh? If my Pokemon was weak to grass, I'd definitely have some tricks when facing a grass type. Now, what moves could your Tangela have used to stop my Rollout streak that would never KO me? Think of the big picture-moves that have some sort of effect longer than a single turn." 11. "See, there we go! Here's a harder one for you; solve this and get a smooth brai- wait, why did I say that? Anyhow, if I wanted to double the power of the next move I plan to use, and don't want a status move, did you know that I could use Rollout to do that? Apparently that's a thing.". He hands you a 3DS, this time with Sun. "Yep, as punishment for losing to me you'll go finding what Pokemon in there can go around making Rollout do that". You groan, and begin playing to find this Pokemon. What is it? | mimikyu |

12. With the tiring search for Mimikyu now over, you demand a rematch, this time in the newer games. You swap back to the DSi and put in SoulSilver, a special copy that hasn't gone online or wirelessly connected since you got in on launch day. You have a plan to go to Route 25 and encounter a level 35 Pokemon with either a 0% or 25% encounter rate depending on certain conditions. You're sure this Pokemon will win you the rematch. 13. Latios in hand, er...Pokeball, you swagger back to your brother, demanding a rematch. However, he's busy playing through your cartridge of Pokemon X from earlier, catching even more Tangela! "Hey, while you were busy, I just found a place where you can get Tangela at a 50% encounter rate! You'll never guess what Pokemon could be found in the other 50%". 14. You finally transfer your new teams to Moon, and begin a 2-on-2 singles battle. Your team leads with a Tangela with a Latios in the back. Your brother also leads with a Tangela, but you have no idea what his second Pokemon is. You're sure that Sludge Bomb is all you need to swing the tide in your favour given the type matchup. Despite this, his Tangela moves first, is able to damage and paralyze you, which is all he needs to clutch victory in his favour as you never land a hit. Your brother being a Tangela fan, you're sure there's no way he'd have used a physical attack, given its stat spread. That being said, what move did he use? | nature power |


15. Impressed by that ingenuity, you send out Latios to OHKO Tangela with a Psychic. Looking up, you realize he isn't surprised by your Latios, only to send out a Pokemon you can't recognize...because your brother throws a handkerchief over your 3DS, blocking your screen :< "That's right, you'll have to battle without knowing what my last Pokemon is! Since I'm nice, here's a hint; it isn't a Baby Pokemon, it can't breed, but it's still one I raised from an egg all those years ago. You don't stand a chance!" 16. "Call an ambulance! But not for me!" he exclaims, as it turns out his Palkia was holding a Choice Scarf, and proceeds to dispatch Latios with a swift Spacial Rend. "Come on, you should've seen this coming - Items matter!" he tries to console you. "Some of them, you can't find no matter how hard you look", his expression saddens. "I tried for years to get that one item when playing Ruby, years I say, and never found it! Whose bright idea was to make the best of its kind obtainable by pure luck ?!", he screams out in anguish. You realize what he's talking about and reply, "Hey, you might want to check out the newer games, it's easily obtainable there. Try finding your Switch in that box?" 17. After searching through the box, he fishes out a strange looking Pokemon cartridge with a scratched off label. Upon booting it up, it doesn't seem to be in a language you can recognize. "Yeah, I snagged this off a garage sale earlier. As it turns out, this baby could go online back in the old days while the English one couldn't! Even cost money to go online; talk about penny-pinching, aye? Then again, as a first attempt, it isn't half bad.". As you attempt to ask what game that is, you instinctively remember. 18. Your brother finally finds his Switch and boots up his copy of Sword, excited to get a Liechi Berry for the first time in years. He makes sure to only travel to the locations known to drop a Liechi Berry. As he shakes a berry tree, something falls down, but it's not a berry, it's a Pokemon! 19. "Haha, I've finally got it. After 3000 years.... I could really do with some cake. Really having a craving for sponge cake with cherries and a certain type of chocolate...did you know that a location exactly shares its name with that cake? Unfortunately, the place has nothing to do with cake, I wish it did. I would say the cake is a lie, but it's nearly the opposite of that.", he decides as he picks up the DSi from earlier, planning to head there. Now, you're even more puzzled than before and scramble to think of the answer. What is this location? [hint: the location does not contain the word "cake".] | white forest |

20. Your brother now resumes his playthrough of Emerald, where he's going to catch Rayquaza. Passing Pacifidlog, he encounters an odd landmass, and his jaw drops when he lands on it. "No way. Out of all days, it's today, huh? You're a lucky charm, you know that?" You peer at his screen to notice that he's on Mirage Island! He wastes no time in snagging the Liechi Berry off there and growing many more. As thanks for inspiring him to continue, your brother plans to catch a Pokemon from the Safari Zone that he's sure you'll love, using the Berry in some way. He's able to successfully capture a Shiny Pokemon with it, lured by the bait! "What did I say? Lucky charm." He asks you to figure out what Pokemon he caught; given that before Generation 5, it couldn't learn any damaging STAB moves by level up. He also asks you to hazard a guess at what its nature might be, if it only dislikes the Liechi berry's second weakest flavour. 21. You correctly identify the Gligar, but before he trades it to you, your brother signals you to pick up a DS Lite, with a copy of Platinum and the aforementioned Emerald inserted. "Finding rare Pokemon can have certain rewards, yeah?". You fly over to Pal Park, and having transferred Pokemon many times before, you speedily catch the Shiny Gligar along with five other filler Pokemon extremely quickly, with a new high score, breaking your old record of 3600. Having so much fun, you spend a few more rounds in Pal Park, each time getting a score slightly higher than the last.  As a prize, you get some berries, and coincidentally, they're all berries that the (same) Gligar doesn't dislike! What are these berries? (alpha)| hondew pomeg tamato |

22. After cooking up poffins from the berries and treating Gligar to them, both of you now look back to the scavs room, to find the chat observing Wan and Part arguing about a gym with Machamp..? "Dammed if I'll ever understand those two, I suppose", you say and look back with a shrug. To quell that puzzled look, your brother gives you a new puzzle, "If I was playing Ultra Moon, went to Poni Meadow and leveled up one of my Pokemon, it could evolve. But, if I went to Mount Lanakila instead, and leveled it up, it would not evolve." What Pokemon is he talking about? | sliggoo  |

23. This evolution brings an odd memory to mind. You were playing a certain mainline game with five badges in hand, when your brother traded you three Tyrogue in exchange for three Seadra you just caught in the wild. Of course, you planned to evolve each one into a different Hitmon. However, when you raised them to Level 20 with the right stats, only two of them could successfully evolve (each into a different Hitmon). What game(s) were you playing? 24. "Times sure have changed since then, huh? Hey, it'd be nice if you could have Pokemon follow you in the overworld, glad it returned in Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee, even Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are going to have that, and don't get me started on Legends Arceus, that game looks amazing - so amazing I could burst out in dance!", he remarks. You're very puzzled by that reaction. He stands on one leg and puts the other leg at a right angle and directly behind the first, with both legs straight. "Where...did you learn something like that? It certainly looks impressive", you manage to say, amidst the confusion. He replies, "Yeah, a certain in-game city is named after this! It's cool, right?". You're now even more confused than before. 25. After joining in the dance and having fun, you're hungry now! You swap out Moon for another 3DS game, this time Alpha Sapphire. After a delightful bowl of ramen, you remember your encounter with a young boy there who gave you a tough battle with two Lucario and a Togekiss. You nostalgically recall the battle with him, how hard it was to get him to show up in the first place, and that you've never seen him again after the battle. What was his name? | trencherman |

25.5. Stomachs full and the evening drawing near, your brother has to leave soon for his flight back to college, and you're sad that time has passed so quickly. Since it's been a while you decided to check back in the scavs room. Oh, what's this? Someone you've never seen called Qtierater seems to be solving !randpoke params with blistering efficiency! Looking back at the current hunt; it's looking all too similar to the last few hours you spent with your brother. Pondering whether entertainment is just a simulation of life, or if it's really the other way round, you notice a note hidden among the params, reading "Well done getting this far. This odyssey was quite the wild ride to compose, brought to you through the power of procrastination, and I sincerely thank you for participating.
