  1. "Make a move, moron."
  2.
  3. I was started from my small reverie, glancing around wildly before seeing the red coat of Alucard almost... immediately to my left? Damn, how out of it was I? I look at him questioningly, hoping to maybe put him off the trail. He didn't know what I was doing right there, right?
  4.
  5. "No seriously, make a move. She won't wait forever you know. I mean she can, but you know what I mean."
  6.
  7. I continue to look confused, no sweat dripping. Have you ever tried to hold a facial expression when the father of someone you like is staring you down? It's not easy. Especially when said 'father' is a countless-millennia-old vampire - possibly the strongest vampire in the world - and an excellent sharpshooter with powerful artillery for handguns.
  8.
  9. "You know what I bloody well mean, pup. I've seen you looking after Police Girl's ass - you're a right horndog, you know that? I've got my eyes on that beast of a woman Integra, so take it from me, poochie. Make a move."
  10.
  11. I briefly look the other direction. You see, the Crimson Fucker was at least partially right. I was watching Seras a lot - no, not in that fashion. Do I look like a sparkly creep? But whenever she was close by my eyes would inevitably wander over to her. Honestly, I'd not given much hope for this to work out.
  12.
  13. When you spend... Oh... 1,697 years consistently striking out? You tend to lose hope.
  14. So why in the name of Sam Hell were Alucard's words giving me hope?
  15.
  16. I turn to look at him, but the red-clad vampire was gone.
  17. =======================================================================
  18.
  19. Welp. I decided to follow his advice.
  20.
  21. It started off with something simple, over the course of a few months. We went on small missions, killing various vampires and ghoul outbreaks. Each mission ended with her talking about herself while Alucard either rambled on or walked back to the headquarters. I know that bugger was listening in, but... I'll be honest. I didn't quite care during those moments. Seras always seemed so animated - talking about who she was before joining the police force. Her hopes during those times. Her dreams. The reaction after those, the realization that as a servant to Alucard - as a vampire - she couldn't pursue them anymore. Those moments... tore at me like none other.
  22.
  23. I'd had two empty stasis pods in my Warehouse for a long while now. Nobody I had ever met really wanted to come along, you know? It was always a case of 'no matter how shit it gets, I want to stay here. This is my home.' In this case, I knew I needed to do whatever it took to convince her to come with. If only for one world - to see if her spark would reignite.
  24.
  25. "Y'know Q. Ye've always listened to me ramble on like this. I guess... Well, you were the first to ever listen, ye know? I can't really call them 'talks' because you can't talk and all, and that'd be rude, but... Well..." Here she stalls a bit. She's blushing, fidgeting. Heart, could we stop skipping beats for a moment? I mean, this might not work out. Don't get weak on me. Please.
  26.
  27. "Thank you," she finally says, looking up. Looking me right in the eyes. "Thank you for being there these past few weeks. I woulda likely just, y'know, bottled it all up. It wouldn't have helped anyone - least of all me. So I'd just... like to say thank you." I started to nod, when she did something just so... unexpected. A kiss on the cheek as she grabbed my hand. It... I don't know what happened, but the next thing I knew Seras was standing up - almost radiating with new emotion. She smiled.
  28.
  29. "I have to go, have to get some target practice in. Think we could head into London next week, grab a cup of coffee? I know a good café down near the harbor! Let me know when you can, aye?" She says, before turning to dart off - with that massive, anti-tank rifle slung over one shoulder.
  30.
  31. I was sitting there like a complete, bamboozled moron. Just... blinking.
  32.
  33. The next moment, if one stumbled into that room? They would've seen a sixteen-foot tall giant in that chair, one hand raised, spinning in it like an utter lunatic.
