MegaTale (Pacifist) Part 9- Core Breaker

Adrian was surprised- and rather saddened- after hearing this. "What?" Adrian asks in disbelief. "This... This IS your home. At least, your new one... Um... Would you like to hear about this book I'm reading? It's called 'Useful Information of the Items in Prototype'. Interested?" As much as Rock would like to say "yes", his mind was set. "That sounds nice and all, but how do you get out of World?" Rock asks again. "Um..." Adrian reacted, a bit worried. "How about a random fact about one of the items down here. Have you heard of a 'Defense Capsule'? One use of it will weaken the impact of damage done to you. ...Well, if you were a robot. But that was very interesting, wasn't it?" Once again, Rock wanted to say "yes", but he had to keep going forwards. "Please, Adrian." Rock pleaded. "Just tell me how to get home!"

Adrian paused for a moment. "...I have to go do something." He finally said. "Stay here." Adrian gets up and leaves. "Come on, Rock!" Rhythm said. "I think he headed for downstairs!" Rock nods and follows Adrian down the steps. Eventually, in a long, dark hallway, he sees Adrian once more.

"You wish to go 'home', yes?" Adrian asks. "...Down here is the exit to World. An entrance to the rest of the Prototype." Adrian paused for a moment, taking a deep breath in and out. "...I'm going to destroy it." He continued. "No one will be able to leave again. Now please, go upstairs." Adrian continued forwards. "We can't let him destroy our way out of here!" Rhythm states. "We need to keep moving forward." Rock nods and continues ahead. "Every human that falls down here shares the same fate." Adrian continues once more. "I seen it time and time again. They come. They leave. They DIE." Rock gulps at this. "If you keep moving forwards..." Adrian once again continues. "He... MEGABOSSMAN... Will kill you." Rhythm's expression becomes a bit shocked. "I don't want it to happen again." Adrian continues. "I'm only trying to protect you." Adrian takes another deep breath. "...Go to your room." Adrian says before moving forwards once more. And once more, Rock follows closely behind. "...Don't try to stop me." Adrian continues. "This is your final warning." Adrian continues forwards once more, with Rock once again following him.

Adrian stands in front of a huge door. He was silent for a bit. "...So... This is how it is." Adrian states. "...Hmph. You are just like the others. ...There's only one solution to this. ...Prove yourself. Prove that you are strong enough to survive out there." Suddenly, the room grows even darker, and a battle commences as Adrian places a buster on his arm. "Adrian blocks the way." Rhythm states in surprise and disbelief. Adrian, the man Rhythm knew for so long... A man that normally believes in peace... Yet he is attacking Rock, just because he didn't want Rock to leave. ...And perhaps some of this shock is from what he heard about MegaBossMan from Adrian. Rhythm never knew MBM to be the type of person to kill humans for no reason. ...Though, perhaps there's more to this than he realizes. Despite, Rhythm eventually decides to help Rock out as much as he-

And just like that, Rock is too busy freaking out about what to do that he's already low on health as Adrain fired fully charged buster shots. Rock was about to use the Cuukee when suddenly Rhythm stopped him. "Look!" Rhythm exclaimed. Suddenly, Rock sees that Adrian is missing Rock completely- and on purpose! "I think we should just take up this opportunity." Rhythm states. "In the meantime, perhaps we should try another way of sparing him! Try just pushing the Mercy Button." Rock nods and pushes the button. For the first few pushes, Adrian stood silent. Eventually, Adrian spoke up. "What are you doing?" Adrian asks. "Attack or run away. What do you seek to prove through this?" But Rock stood his ground.

"Fight me or leave!" Adrian continued. But Rock stood his ground still, with a look that is pretty much BEGGING for Adrian to stop blocking the way. "Stop it." Adrian implored. "Stop... Looking at me that way. If you won't fight me, then just leave!" But Rock stands his ground. Adrian once again was silent, as Rock continued to push the Mercy Button. "...I know you wish to go home..." Adrian finally says, halting his attack. "But... please... go to your room. I promise, I will take good care of you down here. I know there's not much down here, but we can have a good life here. So... Why are you making this so difficult?" Rock still continued pressing Mercy. Adrian was silent for a bit, then spoke up. "...Heh." Adrian chuckled a bit. "...I couldn't even save a single child..." Adrian then looks back at Rock. "...I know. You would just be unhappy down here. WORLD is a bit small when you think about it. It would be unhealthy to keep you down here. And it would be wrong of me to do so. And so... I will put aside my expectations... My loneliness... And my fears."

The battle suddenly ends as things brighten up once more. "If you truly wish to leave..." Adrian continued, "...Then I won't stop you. However... I ask that when you leave... You don't come back. I hope you understand." Rock nods sadly, and hugs Adrian. Adrian smiles softly and hugs back, which leaves Rhythm a bit emotional. The hug wasn't too long, however. "Be good, alright?" Adrian asks before leaving. He looks back at Rock for a moment, then heads back on his way. Rock does the same, heading through the big door down a long hallway.

"I'm kinda sad to leave Adrian behind." Rhythm states. "...But we must keep moving forwards." "...I've actually been meaning to ask." Rock states. "Both Adrian AND the mention of this 'MegaBossMan' person seemed to have made you a bit... Emotionally unbalanced. You were even shocked through most of that fight. Why is that?" Rhythm was silent for a bit, then sighed. "...Something tells me you'll understand later on down the road." Rhythm stated. "...It's not really something I really wish to speak about at the moment." Rock was quiet for a bit, then nods, continues forwards. Despite the lack of a reasoning, Rock decided to shrug off Rhythm's earlier shock and press forward, heading his way out the wall and through yet another door, reaching the exit of-

"Clever." Retro suddenly states, shocking both Rock and Rhythm. "Verrry clever. You think you're SOOOOOOOO smart. In this world, it's KILL or BE KILLED. So WHAT if you managed to follow your own rules? So WHAT if you spared the life of a single robot? ...You know, I bet you feel really GREAT. You haven't killed a SINGLE person. ...BUT. But what if you were to meet a relentless killer? You'll get tired of trying out this whole 'pacifist' thing eventually. But what then? Will you give in to the ways this world works and KILL everyone? ...Or will you simply just give up entirely... And allow ME to gain the power to control this world! ...You might be unaware of such a power as of now... BUT. I will soon become the KING of this world! For now, I am just a lowly prince. But don't worry, little monarch... I plan on no regicide. THIS... This will be MUCH. MORE. INTERESTING." Retro laughs maniacally, then seemingly teleports out.

"...Well, he's right on ONE thing." Rhythm explains. "The robots out here won't be as easy as Adrian was. All of them will NOT go easy on you, especially since you're human. However... Where people can be right, they can be also wrong. There IS a way to show mercy... Just follow my advice, and we'll be able to get through!" Rock smiled at this. "Yeah, you're right." Rock states. "I just wonder what he means by 'the power to control this world', though..." And with this, Rock was out the door and on his way to the rest of his adventure.

"...Psst. Is it our turn to show up?"
"No, not yet."
"Really!? When will we get our moment to shine!?"
"Well, that guy wearing the same hoodie as I am said that he needs to fill out some more roles, so..."
"Beats me."
"Ugh, you gotta be kidding me. This HAS to be an April Fools joke."
"Nope, sorry. We gotta wait it out."
"Ugh, and after months of hiatus..."
"No worries. I'm sure my look-alike will get the roles filled in..."
