- Rules
- Note: players have up to fifteen minutes after their match's scheduled time to sign in. Any longer, and the player may automatically be disqualified or have the set counted as a loss for them.
- In order to advance in either bracket, each player must win one set (two games out of a possible three)*. The in-game ruleset will be as follows:
- -Match length of 7 minutes
- -3 stocks
- -Final Smash Meter, Spirits, Damage Handicap, and Items are all set to Off
- -Stage Hazards Off
- -Stage Selection as Loser's Pick
- -Everything else set to default
- In the event of a timeout, the player will lower percentage/more stocks will receive the win for the game. In the event of a simultaneous K.O that results in a Sudden Death, the player will the lower percentage prior to the K.Os will receive the win for the game. If both players had an identical percentage, a one stock, three minute match will be played to decide the winner of the game.
- The first player to pick a character in Game 1 can be casually determined or done via a double blind pick. The same goes for the player to begin Game 1 stage strikes, with a rock-paper-scissors match instead of a double blind pick. (For online tourneys, you can do a coin flip.)
- Legal Stages List
- Starter Stages (stages that can be picked in Game 1 and onwards):
- Battlefield/Dream Land 64**
- Final Destination
- Smashville
- Town and City
- Pokemon Stadium 2
- Omega and Battlefield Form Stages***
- Counterpick Stages (stages that can be picked from Game 2 and onwards):
- Lylat Cruise
- Kalos Pokemon League
- Yoshi's Story
- Stage bans: In best of threes, the winner of the previous game bans two legal stages, both of which cannot be picked for the following game. In best of fives, only one stage is banned.
- Modified Dave's Stupid Rule: If a player wins on a stage they picked, they cannot pick that stage again within the same set. In best of 5, this only applies to the stage they won on in the last game they won.
- Gentleman's rule: If both players agree to it, any legal stage can be chosen for the following game.
- Character picks: At any point between games, either player can request to switch characters. However, the winner of the previous game must pick first in any circumstance (this allows the loser to counterpick a character). (For online tourneys, the winner should tell their opponent who they are switching to.)
- Brackets
- There are two existing brackets: Winner's Bracket, and Loser's Bracket. Players with zero losses play in the Winner's Bracket until they either lose a match, or win Winner's Finals. Players that have one loss have transferred from the Winner's Bracket and play against other players with one loss until they either lose one more match and become disqualified, or until they win Loser's Finals.
- Once a champion for both Winner's Finals and Loser's Finals is determined, both players face off in the Grand Finals to determine the first place winner of the tournament. However, the player from Loser's Finals must win two sets in order to be declared a champion (known as a bracket reset), while the player in Winner's Finals only needs to win one set.
- *In Winner's Finals, Loser's Finals, and Grand Finals, sets can go up to a total of five games as opposed to three.
- **These stages are similar enough that they are considered the same as each other. This affects stage picking and what you can and cannot go back to in a set.
- ***Omega forms are considered identical to Final Destination, and Battlefield forms are considered identical to Battlefield. The following Omega and Battlefield forms are banned:
- Dream Land GB
- Flat Zone X
- Hanenbow
- Super Mario Maker
- Mute City SNES
- Pac-Land
- Duck Hunt
- Fountain Of Dreams
- Windy Hill Zone
- Garreg Mach Monastery
- All of these stages either manipulate the Z Axis, confusing some players, give an unfair advantage to some characters, or cause frame rate issues. Garreg Mach Monastery in particular does not share the same blast zones as all the other Battlefield/Omega forms.
