Grettir - Dodges blow

Then Grettir threw off his clothes and weapons and plunged in after the nets. When he had gathered the nets together, he returned to land and threw them up onto the bank. As he was climbing out of the water, Thorir grabbed hold of the sax and, raising it to strike, hr ran towards Grettir, who was on the bank getting onto his feet. But just as Thorir struck, Grettir threw himself back into the water and sank like a stone.
