  1. >You twiddled your thumbs as you patiently waited in the bland room.
  2. >To your left, a few empty seats and a side table with a magazine. To your right, a potted plant. In front of you, quite a few other stragglers either flicking through their phones or chatting with each other.
  3. >Looking up at the wall, you saw an electronic display with the number '86.' In your hand, a ticket reading '87.'
  4. >You were getting a bit nervous! All of you were here for the same thing, but the prospect of a new job so soon after finding yourself in a new world was a bit dizzying.
  5. >Still, you had to get yourself on your feet. For her!
  6. >You thumbed over your ring that you had gotten as a promise to Sayori.
  7. >The plan was clear in your mind; work hard, show them you're a good person, get accepted into regular society without issue, find Sayori, live happily ever after.
  8. >Easy! You just had to get past this step.
  9. >A buzzer rang out, and the sign on the wall flicked to the next number.
  10. >"Eighty-seven. Eighty-seven." A bored voice called out from across the room.
  11. >Getting out of your seat in an almost too excited manner, you hurriedly made your way to the counter where an older woman stood in a sealed-up suit.
  12. >"Do you have your paperwork ready?" She asked.
  13. "Yes, ma'am!" You affirmed, giving a nod and going to hand the filled out sheets to her.
  14. >"Take it with you through the door to your left, and down to room 6. Your agent will look over them."
  15. "Oh, okay! Thank you!"
  16. >"Mhm." She looked back to her computer as you entered into the door, and subsequently, a hallway.
  17. >Walking past room after room, you made it to one with an open door labelled '6.' You entered, and smiled at the bulky-suited man sitting at the desk.
  18. "Hi! Are you the uh, agent?" You asked with a friendly wave.
  19. >"Yes sir, that'd be me." He gave a small chuckle. "Everyone calls me York. Have a seat!" He reached for a mug on his desk, brought it to his visored face, and then sat it back down dejectedly.
  20. "Nice to meet you, York! My name's Anon." You gave him a handshake as you sat in the plain office chair. "Oh, and here's this." You sat the stack of paper on the desk in front of him.
  21. >"Alright, let me take a look at this." He grabbed it, and skimmed the first page under his breath. "Anon Ymous... from planet 'Earth,' country... years old..." He looked confused at a few of the details, then flipped the page and continued to read while switching from muttering under his breath to small talk. "You guy's world seems so interesting! I'd give anything to check it out."
  22. >You gave a small laugh.
  23. "It isn't all that much different. More people with hair color like me and less vibrant colors, I guess."
  24. >"While that may be the case, the small differences are really something. Like, it says here that you worked at a warehouse for five days a week, at eight hours a day. I've seen that schedule on so many forms, but here most people work for four days a week at ten hours a day. Isn't that interesting?"
  25. "Huh. I guess so!" You thought about it, and wondered what other things were different.
  26. >"In any case, this looks pretty good. It checks out... as well as it could, anyway. We can't exactly check your references, heh. We've got a few warehouses hiring travelers like you, so it should be easy. We've only got one last thing to check and we'll get you set up!" He stood up from his chair and opened a case on the desk.
  27. "Perfect! So what do you need?"
  28. >"We're just going to take a blood sample to check for anything that could be potentially harmful such as a cold or something from your universe. We don't know how that would affect our populace, so we have to be certain that you're clean. Is that okay?" He retrieves a syringe from the case, and stands at the side of the desk.
  29. "Sure, that's nothin'." Rolling up your sleeve, you allowed York to wipe off your arm, find the vein, and draw your blood.
  30. >"Great. I'm going to take this to the lab and have it examined really quick, so just sit tight, okay?"
  31. "Alright!"
  32. >He gave you a smile, and ducked out of the room for a moment before returning to grab his coffee. With that in hand, he exited into the hall.
  33. >Well, that was easier than expected! A satisfactory smile crept across your face as you waited.
  34. >Soon enough, you'd be with your Doki! And you'd have tons of cash to spoil her with!
  35. >The minutes ticked by as you twiddled your thumbs once more. Then, a turn of the knob, and the door opened once more.
  36. >In walked the agent, but this time he was different. His helmet was held underneath his arm, and he wore a bemused look on his face.
  37. >"You know, we've been running this program for a couple of weeks, and we've not had someone like you." He spoke, taking his seat.
  38. "What did you mean by that? Don't you need your helmet?" Your mind was running a mile a minute.
  39. >"Oh, I don't need it around members of our population. But you'd know that, wouldn't you?"
  40. "... What do you mean?"
  41. >"Listen, Ymous. I'm gonna give it to you straight. I know you're just here looking for a job, and I get it. Times are crazy with all of these interdimensional travelers or whatever. But these jobs are for them; they need them too, and we have plenty of services that can help you get one too." He sipped his coffee freely, unbound by hazmat helmet.
  42. "... What? But I'm..." Your words trailed off. What the fuck did he mean?
  43. >"Look, I've got an example here." He tapped on his keyboard, pulling up a file on the screen before turning it to you. Three images of blood cells filled the screen; one with circular cells, and two with ovaline cells. "See, this is a traveler's blood sample." He pointed to the circles. "And this is our blood." He points to one of the ovalines. "And this last one is yours." He pointed to the second ovaline.
  44. "But... but I'm a traveler." You stammer out.
  45. >"Our machines don't lie, Anon. I'd suggest you leave before we have to get the authorities involved. You should probably take the back exit at the end of the hall. Minimize your contact with travelers so you don't catch anything they have." He sipped his drink once more, smirking at your ruse.
  46. >Authorities? Well, you definitely weren't going to get arrested before meeting her. Arguing over this job wasn't worth it.
  47. "Well, okay, I guess. Uh, have a nice day, York."
  48. >"You too, Anon. There's a regular job recruitment agency over on 3rd Street." He turned to a microphone on his desk before holding down a button. "Em, I'm ready for the next one."
  49. >Leaving the room, you walk down the hall to the door illuminated with an 'EXIT' sign.
  50. >Did your cells mutate? Was there an error with the machine? Did they just decide to fuck with you? The possibilities swam through your thoughts as you pushed out into the back alley.
  51. >Beginning to make your way to the street, you're interrupted by a familiar voice from behind you.
  52. >"Hi, Anon!" The girl's voice says, and your mind registers it as the singer of a song you've heard before.
  53. "Hey, Monika." You absentmindedly respond, deep in thought.
  54. >Wait, Monika.
  55. >Spinning around on your heels, you meet the slightly confused club president.
  56. >"I, uh, thought you'd be more surprised, ahaha."
  57. >Now speechless for the second time, you look at her.
  58. >Your brain starts to fire off, connecting the pieces. Monika had something to do with that.
  59. "Did you..." You begin.
  60. >"Yep! I hacked into the mainframe utilizing UNIX and a firewire and bypassed their security firewall to edit the infrared readings of your blood cells into ultraviolet readings, then used this dongle to hotswap those ultraviolet readings with microsamples of our universes blood." She quickly explains with a smile and her trademark lean.
  61. "... Right, exactly." You nod, not really getting what she meant. "So what now?"
  62. >"Now, you take this fake ID I had printed for you, and we take a nice walk to school to meet up with Sayori and the other girls!" She smiles, producing a small piece of plastic and handing it to you. Taking it, you inspect the details.
  63. >The picture seems to be a cropped piece of digital art of you, and a few parts are wrong.
  64. "My last name is 'Ymous,' not 'Emoose.'" You state.
  65. >"Well, the fan wiki must've been wrong. It doesn't matter, it'll work until we can get you a new one!" She dismisses. "Just study it and commit the mistakes to memory in case you get questioned, okay?"
  66. "Well, alright. Thanks for busting me out, I guess."
  67. >"You're welcome!" She smiled sweetly, and lead you out into the street on a walk towards the school.
  68.
  69. >Arriving as the sun set on the school, you walked with Monika through empty halls until you happened upon a familiar sight.
  70. >Standing in a particular spot, this hallway looked picturesque of the one outside the club in the game. Neat.
  71. >You followed her in, and immediately the two of you were assaulted. You by Sayori, and Monika by another man.
  72. >"Monika! I love you!" The man clutching Monika shouted.
  73. >"Ahaha, I love you too! I'm so happy we're together now!" She responded, returning his hug.
  74. "Heya, Sayo." You said to the small woman clutching you as you wrapped your arms around her.
  75. >"Oh, Anon, my dragonfly, I can't believe the day's finally here!" She nestled her head in your chest, and you held her close as you looked at the other club members.
  76. >Natsuki sat laughing with a guy who was dressed in the shittiest Goku cosplay you'd ever seen, and Yuri was with a dude who was eyeing a cupcake suspiciously while she told him it was alright.
  77. >Well, shit, looks like your buddies made it too. The day was actually finally here.
  78. >You smiled and breathed, soaking the moment up.
  79. >Then, the room was bathed in a light from behind you, as the Dokis and travelers in front of you stared in shock.
  80. >"DDPD! All of you, keep your hands where we can see them!" A masculine voice shouted.
