  1. The pavement was littered with corpses, spent casings and armor fragments that belonged to both Humans and Demons alike. Blackshot and Trident remained in pair as they moved from one street to another, encountering a few Black King Demons along the way. They came across an intersection, sweeping with the muzzle of their rifle before advancing to the particular direction. It brought them to a street obscured by shadows. The storefronts were destroyed beyond recognition and a few abandoned SUVs were parked throughout, probably to serve as a blockade to whatever faction that previously occupied this part.
  2.
  3. The street was silent that one could hear a pin drop. They quietly moved across, the men with them have gone off to different directions of their own but their destination was the same as theirs. Their superiors, Blackshot and Trident's brothers, knew where to lead them. The plan has already played out in their collective conscience. All they have to do is to execute it.
  4.
  5. "Dogs of Heaven!" A low growling voice yelled among the shadows followed by green flames showering from the windows of the buildings around them.
  6.
  7. Moving to a nearby SUV, Blackshot pressed his back against the vehicle. Trident was at the opposite end, firing his Blast Rifle at the Demons. Blackshot took aim at one of the windows in front and opened fire. The Demon's head disappeared in a blur of crimson. He sensed movement to his left, he raised his weapon and opened fire. The Black King convulsed as bullets made entry inside its body. A kick to the chest killed the dying Demon.
  8.
  9. "You will die just like your master!" A voice yelled as its owner sneaked behind Blackshot.
  10.
  11. The Protectorate whirled with a blazing fist. He sent it at the chest of the Demon, creating a fist sized hole. The Demon fell to the ground and never had the chance to stand when a frozen stalactite pierced through its forehead. Blackshot's right hand was smoking with cold air.
  12.
  13. Trident whipped out his extendable baton and struck the approaching Black King with it. Its mask broke, piercing the face underneath. Three more strikes killed the Demon. He raised his Blast Rifle and fired at a group, burning balls of blue plasma splashed against the fabric of their clothes, melting onto their skins. He heard screaming but he ignored it as he continually hosed them down with plasma.
  14.
  15. He drew his bayonet from its sheath and fixed it below the muzzle of his rifle. With a whirl, he swung diagonally, slicing the body of their last ambusher. Blood spilled onto the ground and sprayed against his chestplate. The Demon fell to his knees, expelling blood from his throat before lying to the side, frozen.
  16.
  17. "That's the last of them." Blackshot muttered. Trident nodded.
