  1. Legend of Mana - New Jumi Route Risks and Other Info:
  2.
  3. Update: This new idea proved to be about 7 minutes too slow. While there was some time gained in later missions, it was nowhere near enough to make up the deficit of doing the new ideas, even with getting my Polterbox pet easily and getting SnowDeer drop on the first try. While I made a few mistakes, it wasn't 7 minutes worth. Consider this idea (as the Mythbusters would put it)...BUSTED.
  4.
  5. It still may be helpful for a 100% run though, since Monster Corral would be needed (obviously).

  8. Original Post:
  9.
  10. I recently came up with a new idea for the Jumi storyline route that I feel has potential for some time save over the present record, 2h30m IGT. In theory, the route works. But that being said, there's a LOT of risk involved for failure, even more-so then the present 12.5% odds of BraveBlade drops (or in the run that I usually get, TrollSlitter and LucreBlade).
  11.
  12. The new idea involves doing Monster Corral in addition to the route. WTF you say? Yes, it's weird that I'm ADDING a mission. But here's why.
  13.
  14. Right now, I complete The Infernal Doll as part of the run in order to get Moon's Mirror and Tome of Magic, both places I need to visit anyways. However, if I return to the boss room after completing The Infernal Doll (and Monster Corral is completed), I can get a Poltergeist Egg. Or more specifically, a Polterbox pet.
  15.
  16. Polterbox as a pet has a syncro that changes what I get for drops. Normally at the levels I face enemies, I have access to slots 1-4 (out of 8). However, if I defeat an enemy while in syncro with a Polterbox, I instead have access to slots 3-6 (at the same odds that 1-4 had). So this means a 50% chance of Slot 3 down to a 12.5% chance of Slot 6. Slots 1-2 (which are where EXP, Lucre, and Candy slots are) are now SKIPPED. COMPLETELY. This is huge, because there are some really nice weapons on these lower slots.
  17.
  18. The one big one I'd take advantage of is from the Goblin enemy. I can access a couple after I complete The Lost Princess (the room is initially blocked by a Boink that moves to the south part of the entrance after The Lost Princess is complete). Here are his 8 slots.
  19.
  20. Goblin
  21. 1: EXP x 15 & LUC x 5 5: SilverCrane (WendelSilver Axe: 30)
  22. 2: EXP x 15 & LUC x 5 6: SnowDeer (IshePlatinum Axe: 40)
  23. 3: BlackElk (Obsidian Axe: 26) 7: Langseax (Ivory Axe: 30)
  24. 4: Earthsplitter (LorantSilver 8: SweetRevenge (NemesisRock 2HAxe: 59)
  25. 2HAxe: 31)
  26.
  27. Just having access to BlackElk and EarthSplitter is great as is. They're both more powerful than what I would get until I have access to BraveBlade (2H Sword, 37 ATK) in Tower of Leires. But look at slot 6. In there is a 1H Axe called SnowDeer, with an attack strength of 40. Having access could cut out major time. This weapon is on the same level as SwordOfFate that I normally acquire after getting the Jumi Staff (during the time between Flourite and Teardrop Crystal). And being a 1H weapon, it's MUCH faster than the BraveBlade and combined with the +3 ATK power, it could potentially make up the time lost from the setup in all the boss fights I have to do (like ALL THOSE DAMN JEWEL BEAST FIGHTS...).
  28.
  29. Now there's plenty of risks, as I said. Here's how everything could still very easily fail.
  30.
  31. 1. Poltergeist Egg refuses to be caught. It's nowhere near as easy to catch as the Rabite/Chocobo Egg in the Monster Corral event.
  32. 2. The Poltergeist Egg hatches to be something other than a Polterbox. I know of at least 4 things it can hatch into (Polterbox, Chess Knight, Dainslaif, and Cursed Doll).
  33. 3. SnowDeer refuses to drop. Remember, it's a 12.5% chance while in syncro with a Polterbox. Still iffy odds.
  34. 4. Minimal: Unable to syncro with Polterbox. This should be a non-issue, since it's fairly easy to push the Goblins over to the pet and waste away.
  35. 5. All of this prep work takes longer than the time saved by getting SnowDeer, even if everything goes perfectly.
  36.
  37. This is a risky, but hopefully fun endeavor. We shall see where this all goes when I get to run this. Here's hoping that I catch up to the Japanese time.
  38.
  39. Current Records:
  40. US In-Game Time: 2:30 by me.
  41. Japanese In-Game Time: 2:26 (2:26:43 Real Time) by しあん.
