  1. Pokemon Emerald Seedot% FAQ
  2.
  3. Q: What are you trying to do?
  4. A: Beat Pokemon Emerald as fast as possible using the Seedot evolutionary line.
  5.
  6. Q: What is the world record?
  7. A: 3:15:38 by keepingiticy.
  8.
  9. Q: Why are you running this?
  10. A: It's a fun route, and Sakharu has offered $1000 in prize money to the top 5 Seedot times by March 1.
  11.
  12. Q: Why you running without manip?
  13. A: It's more fun for me, and the manip-making process is inconsistent and frustrating. We still have the issue where manips made on emulator do not always work on console (or other emulators).
  14.
  15. Q: What is the route like?
  16. A: Mixed attacker memes. I get both the Silk Scarf (for Strength) and the Blackglasses (for Faint Attack), and both of those are still relatively weak, so Nuzleaf/Shiftry has to rely on other moves like Rollout, Giga Drain, Brick Break and Explosion. Yes, Explosion. The fastest part of the run is actually the beginning, since Seedot owns Roxanne's gym with Bullet Seed and high Defense.
  17.
  18. After that, I've created a safe route for Nuzleaf/Shiftry to win fights with minimal risk. However, Flannery is still a major run killer because I will always die to a crit Overheat and sometimes have to risk missing Rollout. I also can't avoid dying to a critical Facade on Norman or a crit Ice Ball on Glacia. For these reasons, I always save for Flannery, Norman and Glacia.
  19.
  20. The hardest part of the run is just encountering the Seedot, since it is a 1% encounter and needs decent stats, especially in Attack and Special Attack. If I don't encounter Seedot within 5 minutes (~20 encounters), I will reset. Since it takes 100 encounters on average to encounter Seedot, this means I will reset most runs to the encounter grind.

  23.
  24. Q: What Pokemon do you use besides Ralts?
  25. A: Torchic for early-game fights and Rock Smash, Zigzagoon for Cut and Surf, Swablu for Fly, Castform for double battles, and Tentacool for Dive and Waterfall.
  26.
  27. Q: What are you playing on?
  28. A: The emulator mGBA (0.10.3).
  29.
  30. What is different about manipless?
  31. A: The main difference is that it's much harder to get on a run. Some days it will take 3 or more hours to find a usable Seedot. Manipped runs can get 8 runs to Roxanne in that time. In terms of stats, it's hard to say, since both of the manipped routes I've seen actually have below-average stats due to RNG limitations. It's very likely that my unmanipped Seedot will have better stats than the manipped Seedots (which is what happened in my manipless Ralts run).
