  2. 2:02 PM - Sigismund has changed their name to Julianus Antonius.
  3. 2:07 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: // Guess that's it for the next few minutes or so.
  4. 2:07 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: // All ready?
  5. 2:07 PM - Quintus Aurelius Maximus entered chat.
  6. 2:08 PM - Destroyer entered chat.
  7. 2:08 PM - Destroyer: //Greetings
  8. 2:08 PM - Quintus Aurelius Maximus: // Good day
  9. 2:09 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: // Evenin'
  10. 2:09 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: // Alright we're starting
  11. 2:11 PM - Aquila Iovis entered chat.
  12. 2:11 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: *Censor Gaius Verus Maxentius would solemnly enter the Senate chamber, a marble tablet with him.*
  13. 2:12 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: Senators.
  14. 2:12 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: I wish this meeting were under better circumstances. As it is, our situation appears rather dire.
  15. 2:13 PM - Celticus Magnus: *sips Corsican Martini*
  16. 2:13 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " An understatement... "
  17. 2:13 PM - Celticus Magnus: Everything is fine
  18. 2:14 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " How in the last edges of Pluto is 'Everything fine'?! "
  19. 2:14 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: As the highest officer in Rome, I feel it necessary that we hold elections for the Consulship to fill both positions today. However, before we hold them, I would like to table a discussion.
  20. 2:15 PM - Quintus Aurelius Maximus: I find your optimism disturbing Celticus.
  21. 2:15 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: I would like the Senate to seriously consider invoking Article 7 of the Constitution, and appointing an Imperator with causa for the matter to be done.
  22. 2:15 PM - Consul Marcus Julius Cornelius disconnected.
  23. 2:16 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " It is the most sensible thing to do. "
  24. 2:16 PM - Celticus Magnus: //https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04xOsNW7zTA
  25. 2:16 PM - Julianus Antonius: *Would raise an eyebrow*
  26. 2:16 PM - Consul Marcus Julius Cornelius entered chat.
  27. 2:17 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " But this time, listen to my words: The ones who haven't lie dead, somewhere in a distant pile of corpses! "
  28. 2:17 PM - Titus Valerianus Scaevola: The tragic circumstances the Republic is faced with at this moment, are justification enough for such a drastic measure. We must take all actions necessary to save the Republic, the Republic of which as it stands faces complete and utter annihilation at the hands of barbarians and savages.
  29. 2:18 PM - Quintus Aurelius Maximus disconnected.
  30. 2:18 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Not enough justification? How is the loss of the majority of our army not 'drastic' enough for you?"
  31. 2:19 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " And it all happened in just a few days! This is worse than the crysis with Hannibal, which took years! "
  32. 2:19 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: Indeed. The barbarians are at the gates and it is entirely likely that tomorrow's battle will determine the fate of not just Rome, but of all civilised cultures and peopls.
  33. 2:19 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: //peoples*
  34. 2:19 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Hear hear! "
  35. 2:20 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: It is such that I would encourage the Senate to invoke Article 7 before we elect Consuls, in order to assign a clear mandate.
  36. 2:21 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: Cautus would clap slowly, in the same very slow tempo he clapped the last time, when it was agreed not to attack the Cimbri.
  37. 2:22 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Look, look. We earn the fruits of a burning tree. Set on fire by the so called 'strategists of Rome', and where are they now? "
  38. 2:22 PM - Celticus Magnus: Should we...
  39. 2:22 PM - Celticus Magnus: Regroup outside of Italy?
  40. 2:23 PM - Celticus Magnus: The Legions have left Spain.
  41. 2:23 PM - Celticus Magnus: It is lost.
  42. 2:23 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Madness! "
  43. 2:23 PM - Celticus Magnus: But we could possible group all legions in a more stable province.
  44. 2:23 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: How stable are our lines of communication?
  45. 2:23 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " There is no way we could evacuate a half million people! "
  46. 2:23 PM - Celticus Magnus: //current map https://i.imgur.com/FD1UpRr.png
  47. 2:24 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: The Cimbrians control the north of the province.
  48. 2:24 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Ah, I understand, excuse me. You want to leave our people undefended. Let the dogs tear their flesh apart. "
  49. 2:24 PM - Titus Valerianus Scaevola: To cede Italy is to cede our primary recruitment ground. I do not believe we can hold Roma, yet if we utilize our navy we could relocate the Senate and all of our legions to Brundisium, and hold Magna Graecia.
  50. 2:24 PM - Quintus Aurelius Maximus entered chat.
  51. 2:25 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " I can already hear the shouts in the forum: 'The senate leaves Rome with it's last legions. We are doomed!' ... "
  52. 2:26 PM - Celticus Magnus: Well we could arm the Plebeian masses with pitchforks and daggers.
  53. 2:26 PM - Publius Quintilius Metellus: "It would be wrong to leave Rome undefended, running away like sheep from the incoming wolf. Yet it is unlikely we are able to hold Rome without troops."
  54. 2:26 PM - Celticus Magnus: Perhaps they should go out fighting rather than trembling in Rome.
  55. 2:26 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: Aye, we are unlikely to hold Rome, but we can at the very least dent their numbers.
  56. 2:27 PM - Titus Valerianus Scaevola: This is not the time to care about perception, not the time to care about money, nor prestige, nor fame! The existence of the entire Republic is at stake here! If we do not concentrate our forces and regroup then all of Italia will fall. There are no legions in Rome, nor in Italia. I myself, however, am willing to stay in Rome and work to organize a defense of the city, as Carthage defended itself in the Third Punic War.
  57. 2:28 PM - Publius Quintilius Metellus: "Aye."
  58. 2:28 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Why don't we have Egyptians allies if we help them but they don't aid us? We are in a dire situation and it's not like they'd have no army! "
  59. 2:28 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " We should ask them for some aid. "
  60. 2:28 PM - Publius Quintilius Metellus: "There is no time to call for allies."
  61. 2:28 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: // *Why do
  62. 2:29 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " We don't know how long this war will take. We should be on the safe side! "
  63. 2:29 PM - Titus Valerianus Scaevola: Every man capable of holding a gladius, or a spear, must be levied to man the walls. Meanwhile I agree, we must call on our allies, every force we can bring to bear against these barbarians will make a great difference in this struggle.
  64. 2:29 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Hear hear! "
  65. 2:29 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: Senators, are we all in agreement over Article 7's invocation?
  66. 2:30 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " aye. "
  67. 2:30 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: Let us agree on this first.
  68. 2:30 PM - Rankein: //who will become the dictator then?
  69. 2:30 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " I think it would be easier to ask if there are any objections. "
  70. 2:30 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Are there? "
  71. 2:31 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: // I 'unno, I'm just winging it at this point
  72. 2:31 PM - [UMBF] TheMailman entered chat.
  73. 2:31 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: // Either somebody is writing a darn long text or we're waiting for nothin.
  74. 2:31 PM - Julianus Antonius: // We're all just waiting for someone to jump in on it
  75. 2:31 PM - Rankein: //You lads will get to see the results of le greht behttel soon
  76. 2:32 PM - [UMBF] TheMailman left chat.
  77. 2:32 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: I'm taking the silence to mean that there are no objections.
  78. 2:32 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: Very well, I call it to a formal vote. All in favour are to vote aye, all against are to vote no.
  79. 2:32 PM - Rankein: //give Celticus Imperator pl0x
  80. 2:32 PM - Publius Quintilius Metellus: "Aye."
  81. 2:32 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Aye! "
  82. 2:32 PM - Titus Valerianus Scaevola: Aye!
  83. 2:32 PM - Celticus Magnus: //feck off ya knoib
  84. 2:32 PM - Julianus Antonius: Aye
  85. 2:32 PM - Quintus Aurelius Maximus: Aye
  86. 2:32 PM - Rankein: // https://steamcommunity-a.akamaihd.net/economy/emoticon/llama
  87. 2:32 PM - Consul Marcus Julius Cornelius: //Somewhere in the distance the mia Consul agrees
  88. 2:32 PM - Celticus Magnus: Aye
  89. 2:33 PM - Rankein: //Heilianus says "Aye" from across the Adriatic
  90. 2:33 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: The ayes, I believe, have a clear majority. We therefore invoke Article 7. Now.
  91. 2:33 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: Consular elections.
  92. 2:33 PM - Celticus Magnus: I nominate myself
  93. 2:33 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: Cautus would stand up.
  94. 2:33 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " I nominate myself too. "
  95. 2:33 PM - Consul Marcus Julius Cornelius: //Bastard I'm still alive
  96. 2:33 PM - Celticus Magnus: //scrubs in barbarian chains dont get to speak
  97. 2:33 PM - Celticus Magnus: // https://steamcommunity-a.akamaihd.net/economy/emoticon/mbpraise
  98. 2:33 PM - Consul Marcus Julius Cornelius: //lmao
  99. 2:34 PM - Rankein: // I'm not in chains!
  100. 2:34 PM - Julianus Antonius: I nominate myself
  101. 2:34 PM - Celticus Magnus: I rescind my nomination
  102. 2:34 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " It has been for too long we've been lead by people who seek immediate war over the sake of the republic. "
  103. 2:34 PM - Rankein: XXXXX------C E N S O R E D--------XXXXXXX
  104. 2:35 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: Have we any more nominations?
  105. 2:35 PM - Titus Valerianus Scaevola: I nominate myself. Unlike one here who would rather sip his provincial wine and claim all is well, I am willing to fight, sacrifice, and die for our Republic, for our people.
  106. 2:35 PM - Celticus Magnus: Perhaps we need not a soldier but an intelligent mind
  107. 2:35 PM - Celticus Magnus: I nominate Publius Metellus!
  108. 2:35 PM - Quintus Aurelius Maximus: I nominate Celticus Magnus
  109. 2:36 PM - Celticus Magnus: Put all the names on the ballot mentioned.
  110. 2:36 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " The war that'll come will be bloody and long. But Rome knows such wars. Rome had to experience the darkest of times we could imagine. And yet, here we are. We are only here though, because there was always a man, that took the right, the cautious part. "
  111. 2:36 PM - Celticus Magnus: Fair
  112. 2:36 PM - Rankein: //Vote for Heilianus in Absientia!
  113. 2:36 PM - Publius Quintilius Metellus: *Looks up and towards the man who just nominated him. Publius simply nods in approval.*
  114. 2:36 PM - Celticus Magnus: I support Cautus' nomination.
  115. 2:37 PM - Celticus Magnus: //officially put Cautus, Julianus, Scaevola on the thingy
  116. 2:37 PM - Celticus Magnus: //Dont put me.
  117. 2:37 PM - Celticus Magnus: //oh
  118. 2:37 PM - Titus Valerianus Scaevola: I rescind my nomination, and will back Cautus. As I stated earlier, I will stay in Rome to aid in its defense. As I expect the Senate will move south, I cannot guide our Republic from within a siege.
  119. 2:37 PM - Celticus Magnus: //and Metellus
  120. 2:37 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Know, that when I'd be your consul, I'd be as your father. I would look after Romans, all Romans, as my children. There's no need to start an open battle early, just because the honour of some drunk fool demands it. If it has to be, I'd let them starve, for what they've done! "
  121. 2:38 PM - Rankein: Do not make speeches as if this was an election!
  122. 2:38 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " The Cimbri this is, would let the Cimbri starve. "
  123. 2:38 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " I can give a reason for why I nominate myself, can't I? "
  124. 2:38 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: He'd lokk at him strictly and sit down again.
  125. 2:38 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: Voting is now open, Senators.
  126. 2:38 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: // http://demochoice.org/dcballot.php?poll=SPQREMCON
  127. 2:38 PM - Celticus Magnus: //Also for those who havent seen this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y95WqkodGL4&feature=youtu.be - Thank you to Aquila Iovis for this
  128. 2:40 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: // I couldn't resist.
  129. 2:40 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: // Aquila's Swiss blood must be loving this
  130. 2:41 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: // Lebensraum aquired. Next objective: Rome.
  131. 2:41 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: I presume, Senators, that we have all cast votes.
  132. 2:42 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: Thus, I declare Tiberius Tillius Cautus and Julianus Antonius to be our new Consuls. May the Gods watch over us all.
  133. 2:42 PM - Celticus Magnus: AND NOW
  134. 2:43 PM - Rankein: //I thought we were selecting dicators?
  135. 2:43 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: Cautus would stand up, slowly walk to the center of the room and briefly bow for every single senator.
  136. 2:43 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: // Consular elections
  137. 2:43 PM - Celticus Magnus: You two must nominate an Imperator
  138. 2:43 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: Yes.
  139. 2:43 PM - The Triumph of Rome entered chat.
  140. 2:44 PM - The Triumph of Rome left chat.
  141. 2:44 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Celticus, Cornelius, Maxentius, Antonius, Agrippa, Metellus, Maximus, Heilianus and Scaevola, or newest member. I shan't dissapoint you. "
  142. 2:44 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Julianus, shall we? "
  143. 2:44 PM - Rankein: //I'm busy being in the fokkin bush
  144. 2:44 PM - Julianus Antonius: I thank my fellow Romans to allowing myself and Cautus to help Rome in this time of need
  145. 2:44 PM - Rankein: //why even say my name?
  146. 2:44 PM - Julianus Antonius: Yes, Cautus.
  147. 2:45 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: He'd accompany Julianus to the consular seats, himself first rubbing some dust off.
  148. 2:45 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " May I start, Julianus? "
  149. 2:45 PM - Julianus Antonius: Yes you may, Cautus.
  150. 2:46 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Excellent. Now, as you've all heard, we shall activate article 7 now, which means we open the floor to anyone, who finds himself obligated to take the responsibility of becoming Imperator. "
  151. 2:47 PM - Rankein: //Might I suggest Celticus? https://steamcommunity-a.akamaihd.net/economy/emoticon/llama
  152. 2:47 PM - Celticus Magnus: The Consuls are technically supposed to nominate someone, not ask for nominations
  153. 2:47 PM - Celticus Magnus: But in times like this I guess we can let people volunteer
  154. 2:47 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Please, I am talking. "
  155. 2:49 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " This office allows the latter a full imperium over the remaining legions. They're four, if I recall correctly. Because he has shown true skill in rational argumentation and cold logic, I nominate not a Plebeian, as most of you might've already imagined, but a fellow Patrician, the same Patrician which started this very meeting. "
  156. 2:49 PM - Publius Quintilius Metellus: *Sits silently on his seat, upright and not leaning back, he watches what these two new Consular would do now.*
  157. 2:49 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Could you please stand up for a second, Maxentius. "
  158. 2:50 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: Aye?
  159. 2:50 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " This man has shown true patience and competence in all regards, since I've seen him the first time. This is the reason I nominate Gaius Verus Maxentius, the Wise. "
  160. 2:50 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " You may sit down again. "
  161. 2:50 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: Thank you, Consul.
  162. 2:51 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Julianus, I hand the speaking over to you, dear Co-Consul. "
  163. 2:51 PM - Julianus Antonius: "Thank you, Cautus"
  164. 2:52 PM - Julianus Antonius: *He would clear his throat*
  165. 2:52 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: Consul, if I may speak after you?
  166. 2:53 PM - Celticus Magnus: //https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7iGmwmHePI
  167. 2:54 PM - Rankein: //not for long https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tlwda9S58Lg
  168. 2:56 PM - Julianus Antonius: "While I do admire the choice of person my fellow co-Counsul has put up for nomination, and I know that Maxentius is an excellent citizen of Rome to govern, what we need at this time is a man who is also good at military strategy and one that may help defend Rome against these...these....barbadians. Therefore, I must respectfully disagree with co-counsul Cautus and not nominate Maxentius the wise. However, I will not let me speaking cause a waste of time. I do see someone that we need right now, and someone that may potentially help Rome get out of this situation, and this man my fellow Romans is Publius Quintilius Metellus. He may be the best person to help lead Rome in this time of need. I therefore nominate this man to bring Rome away from the dangers of the Barbarians and make Rome strong.
  169. 2:57 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: Consul, if I may?
  170. 2:57 PM - Julianus Antonius: Yes.
  171. 2:58 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: I agree with Consul Julianus entirely. While I respect the nomination and I take it all in good faith, I must decline. I am, first and foremost, a statesman before I am a general. I have never been comfortable commanding armies. It is for this reason that, during my own tenure as Consul, I deferred almost exclusively to my late Co-Consul Kaeso on military matters.
  172. 3:00 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " I see. " He'd nod slowly. " Note though, dear Metellus, that this won't be a game of sword, but a game of feet, a game of maneuvre and sharpness. Now, I will open the nomination to the senate, except if anyone objects. "
  173. 3:00 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: // *nominations
  174. 3:01 PM - Consul Marcus Julius Cornelius: //brb 15 mins
  175. 3:01 PM - Julianus Antonius: // I will likewise have to brb for the same time.
  176. 3:02 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " If there is no voice raises, to object the latter, in the next half minute, the nominations are also opened for the senators themselves. Prepare your speeches now, to safe some time afterwards. "
  177. 3:03 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: // *raised
  178. 3:04 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Let me remind you all that this office is the highest responsibility a Roman could receive. This is no small election, this is an extreme consequence of a dire crysis! "
  179. 3:04 PM - Celticus Magnus: I agree.
  180. 3:04 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " The time has passed, the nominations are hereby opened. "
  181. 3:05 PM - Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa disconnected.
  182. 3:06 PM - Celticus Magnus: I believe the nomination process has concluded as no one objected to the previous nomination.
  183. 3:06 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " If one is still thinking of a speech, make a sound now. "
  184. 3:07 PM - Publius Quintilius Metellus: *Publius rises from his seat.* "I would like to say a few words, fellow Senators."
  185. 3:08 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " If it has to do with your nomination, speak. "
  186. 3:14 PM - Publius Quintilius Metellus: *Metellus moves down to the centre of the hall, standing in front of the senators as well as the consuls.* "I am honoured by the trust you put into me by nominating me. It is a surprise without question, but a good one. I dedicated my life to serve the senate and people of Rome and I will continue to do so, no matter how this war turns out. While I do not have any first hand expirience to hold an imperium so far, I assure you, that I have the confidence in Rome, the gods and myself to take it if I should be chosen. This crisis could have been prevented, failure of apparently more expirienced, more popular people lead us where we are now. This is maybe our darkest hour, but I see the dawn and no matter what happens here today, I will fight and do as best as I can to keep Rome, our all mother and home, alive. Roma Invicta!" *He bows slightly towards the Consuls and then to the senators and goes back to his seat.*
  187. 3:15 PM - Rankein: *Claps*
  188. 3:15 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: Cautus would stand up clapping.
  189. 3:15 PM - Celticus Magnus: *Claps!*
  190. 3:16 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " I hereby declare Publius Quintilius Metellus from now on Imperator with absolute Imperium, till the crysis is over. Remember though, that this does not mean that the legislation lies in your hand! Acts of war against others that would be seen as crimes in normal circumstances will be accepted and ignored, as long as necessary to the cause. I congratulate you and beg the senate to follow his instructions, even if you disagree, if it's about military matters. Rome's destiny lies in your hands Metellus, IN YOUR HANDS! Make us proud, make us Roman again! Bring us the eagles the Cimbri shot from the sky, and take their barbarism to Hannibal's ashes! "
  191. 3:17 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: Cautus would sit down.
  192. 3:17 PM - Rankein: //this RP atm https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBEUQSpRvSI
  193. 3:18 PM - Consul Marcus Julius Cornelius: //back
  194. 3:19 PM - Celticus Magnus: *cough*
  195. 3:19 PM - Celticus Magnus: I believe we should have voted the exact powers no?
  196. 3:19 PM - Celticus Magnus: We have listed powers of course!
  197. 3:20 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " I do not see how the powers aren't clear. "
  198. 3:20 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Please educate me if I'm wrong, though. "
  199. 3:22 PM - Celticus Magnus: The extraordinary office of Dictator/Imperator may be nominated by the following process:
  200. The Senate must declare the causa or purpose of the appointment and issue the decree of senatus consultum, authorizing one of the Consuls to choose their man for the position. This may not be vetoed under any circumstance.
  201.
  202. If both Consuls are available they may agree on the nominee or in the event that the Consuls do not agree, they may draw lots for the responsibility of choosing.
  203.
  204. Once the nominee is chosen and has accepted the nomination, the Senate must grant the right of imperium upon the Dictator if the causa requires military command by passage of law titled: lex curiata de imperio. In the event this occurs, the Dictator aquires the title of Imperator and will be addressed as such.
  205.
  206. In the event that the causa requires no military action, the title of Dictator will remain.
  207.
  208. Upon the completion of this process, the Dictator/Imperator will posess the full rights and powers detailed below.
  209. 3:22 PM - Celticus Magnus: and
  210. 3:22 PM - Celticus Magnus: The consideration and appointment of a Dictator or Imperator must have causa or a purpose(s). The viable causes include but are not limited to:
  211. rei gerundae causa, "for the matter to be done," used in cases where the Imperator must hold military command against a specific enemy of Rome.
  212.
  213. comitiorum habendorum causa, "holding the comitia," used in cases when the Consuls are unable or unavailable to hold elections.
  214.
  215. seditionis sedandae causa, "to quell sedition," used in cases where the Dictator must hold authority in order to quell seditious speech or acts.
  216.

  236. 3:26 PM - Titus Valerianus Scaevola: *Scaevola stands* "Consuls, I wish to propose a motion, may I have the floor?"
  237. 3:26 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " You may, right after this one... "
  238. 3:27 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Now, as said, matters concerning the war will lie fully in Metellus' hands. We need someone to take decitions quickly, as the Cimbri get closer every day. Something that doesn't lie in his power though is the matter with our allies. Or, our ally, if I got to be exact, now after the Taurisci vanquished with our legions in the north. I put forward the motion to ask Egypt for immediate aid. "

  251. 3:30 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: Cautus'd sit down and lean back a bit.
  252. 3:30 PM - Celticus Magnus: As Pontifex I would ask for the right to officially give the blessings of the gods to Imperator Metellus to finalize the meeting?
  253. 3:31 PM - Celticus Magnus: Following all other discussion.
  254. 3:31 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Of course Celticus, a great idea! "
  255. 3:31 PM - Consul Julianus Antonius: I believe this would be a good idea.
  256. 3:31 PM - Titus Valerianus Scaevola: *Scaevola stands once more.* "Consuls, esteemed Imperator, and fellow Senators. I would motion for the addition of the causa senatus legendi, to the powers of the Dictator. We are lacking in several Senatorial offices, especially the office of Praetor and it may be best that the Imperator chooses the commanders of his legions.
  257.
  258. Otherwise, if objections stand before this motion, I would request that at the very least elections are held to fill the empty Praetorships."

  261. 3:33 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " I do not see how he could abuse this power. If Rome was lost so would be his position. I second the motion, as this right will be gone after the crysis. "
  262. 3:33 PM - Celticus Magnus: Does the Senate have objections?
  263. 3:33 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Make a sound now if this is the case. "
  264. 3:34 PM - Consul Julianus Antonius: I second this motion.
  265. 3:34 PM - Jakeman, Noble Citizen of London: No objection, although what of the other Censorial position?
  266. 3:34 PM - Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa disconnected.
  267. 3:34 PM - Celticus Magnus: Former Consuls may hold it, but seeing as none are present or alive atm.
  268. 3:34 PM - Celticus Magnus: I would volunteer to retake the position.
  269. 3:35 PM - Consul Julianus Antonius: All said in good spirit.
  270. 3:35 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " We'll do the censorial positions after the motion. "
  271. 3:35 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " The senate agrees upon such radical motions. I am somewhat glad, but also frightened, as this indicated of how dire the war really is. "

  279. 3:36 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " This is no time for sleep. "
  280. 3:37 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Thank you. The majority is for the motion. It passes. "
  281. 3:37 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Now, are there any other motion to put forward before we go over to the elections of vacant positions that are not to be decided by the Imperator? "
  282. 3:38 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: // *motions
  283. 3:38 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Make a sound now or remain silent for the rest of the meeting. "
  284. 3:38 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " It is decided. "
  285. 3:38 PM - Quintus Aurelius Maximus disconnected.
  286. 3:38 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Now to the censorial elections. "
  287. 3:39 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Are there nominees other than Celticus? "
  288. 3:39 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " If so, announce your word now. "
  289. 3:40 PM - Consul Julianus Antonius: If there are no other nominations....
  290. 3:40 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " So be it. "
  291. 3:40 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: Cautus'd clap. " Some applause, senators. "
  292. 3:41 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Even in grim situations, the Republic remains holy. Take care of it that way. "
  293. 3:41 PM - Consul Julianus Antonius: *He would clap, then notice the other senators.*
  294. 3:42 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Ugh, it's striking my mind some of you could be planning your escape to Persia instead of BEING ATTENTIVE. " He'd hit three times on the floor with the consular staff.
  295. 3:43 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Now, this shall be it. I asume there are no volunteers for the position of Plebeian Aedile? "
  296. 3:43 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: // C'mon guys. Ok, sorry...
  297. 3:43 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Very well then. Celticus, I give you the floor.
  298. 3:43 PM - Publius Quintilius Metellus: "Apologies, Consul, I was deep in thoughts."
  299. 3:44 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " You must be with your new position. "
  300. 3:44 PM - Consul Marcus Julius Cornelius: //Why would anyone wanna go to Persia
  301. 3:45 PM - Publius Quintilius Metellus: "Indeed. I would like to make a short announcement before the Pontifex continues."
  302. 3:45 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: // It was actually a common place for exiled people.
  303. 3:45 PM - Celticus Magnus: You may proceed Imperator.
  304. 3:45 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " The floor is your. "

  308. 3:56 PM - Publius Quintilius Metellus: *Once again standing, Publius looks at the fellow senators.* "I make it short, this does not need to take longer than necessary. I want to talk to both Consuls after the Senate meeting, I want everyone who sees himself fit to take a commander role in the battle to come, to approach me immediatly.
  309. Furthermore, we will defend Rome with the forces available here right now, it is a dire and demanding task and I need a volunteer to do it.
  310. Our ability to fight is based upon the financing of our troops and raising new ones. We need to secure the possibility of continuing the war and being strong in the future. Every boy between the age of 13 and 16 will immediatly leave the city and move to Capua and further South afterwards. The state treasury needs to be saved as well and will take the same way till Pompey.
  311. The Cimbrians are here before our reinforcements could arrive and therefore Rome remains unprotected except by those we can raise now. My order for our spanish Legions is to move to Massilia.
  312. I appreciated any proposals and advice, after the meeting."
  313. 3:58 PM - Celticus Magnus: So it is.
  314. 3:58 PM - Celticus Magnus: And following this.
  315. 3:59 PM - Celticus Magnus: As Pontifex Maximus, appointed to link our world with the other, all the blessings of the gods are bestowed upon you, Imperator Metellus, Holder of Rome's Future.
  316. 3:59 PM - Celticus Magnus: May you serve the Republic in all capabilities.
  317. 4:00 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Hear hear. "
  318. 4:01 PM - Publius Quintilius Metellus: *The newly elected Imperator bows deeply.*
  319. 4:01 PM - Celticus Magnus: And with that I must leave you all. I will attept to gather the garrisons on Sardinia and Corsica to aid in the defense.
  320. 4:01 PM - Titus Valerianus Scaevola: *Scaevola applauds, then waits for the applause to die down before standing.* "Imperator, I put myself forward to take on the task of defending the beating heart of the Republic, to lead the defence of Roma to the last man, and unto my last breath."
  321. 4:01 PM - Celticus Magnus: //Consuls dont forget to log the chat, post the necessary announcements, etc
  322. 4:01 PM - Celticus Magnus left chat.
  323. 4:01 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Shush. "
  324. 4:01 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " This is for after the meeting. "
  325. 4:02 PM - Consul Julianus Antonius: As the Imperator has stated, anyone who wishes to discuss with him may do so after the meeting.
  326. 4:02 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: " Now, let us all hope the gods are still on our side. Especially on Metellus' side. I hereby conclude the senate meeting. May fortuna guide our paths. "
  327. 4:02 PM - Tiberius Tillius Cautus: Cautus'd stand up and follow Julianus, Metellus and Scaevola to the outside.
