  27. Brian_Carter goes and runs the client program
  28.
  29. DM_TZIVOS: Both of you are greeted by an installing screen with some sweet music for a few short minutes before being brought to prompts that want you to ENTER SERVER USERNAME for Brian and ENTER CLIENT USERNAME for Suktra
  30.
  31. Brian_Carter: ==> turbulentSeas

  37. DM_TZIVOS: it also accepts

  39. DM_TZIVOS: both screens flash with the words USERNAME ACCEPTED before brian's screen blacks out, and suktra's screen is given a view of Brian in his house
  40.
  41. DM_TZIVOS: surrounding the edge of her peripheral are a variety of menus and camera controls

  47. Brian_Carter: HS: Yeah, just put them wherever. I tried to organize the house for you, so don't go rearranging furniture.

  65. Suktra rolls 1d20+2 = 5
  66.
  67. Brian_Carter: Perfect.
  68.
  69. DM_TZIVOS: Suktra, you fail to hit anything except the nearby window with Brian's laundry
  70.
  71. Brian_Carter: Rolling acro to catch it
  72.
  73. Brian_Carter rolls 1d20+3 = 19
  74.
  75. DM_TZIVOS: Brian, you snag it out of the air and from Suktra's grip
  76.
  77. Brian_Carter: HS: Stop that. We're on a clock here.
  78.
  79. Suktra: TS: Fine ~<

  81. Suktra places the first machine in Brian's room
  82.
  83. DM_TZIVOS: ERROR: not enough room
  84.
  85. Brian_Carter: HS: Basement has a lot of room. I suggest doing it there.
  86. ·
  87. Suktra moves Brian's bed to make space in his room
  88.
  89. DM_TZIVOS: roll acrobatics to move the bed without fucking it up
  90.
  91. Suktra rolls 1d20+2 = 12
  92.
  93. DM_TZIVOS: You manage to flip the bed on its side and prop it up against the wall, creating enough room
  94. ·
  95. Suktra re-places the first machine, now that there's more room
  96.
  97. DM_TZIVOS: You place the alchemiter where Brian's bed used to be
  98.
  99. DM_TZIVOS: it lands with a very heavy *THUD*
  100. ·
  101. Brian_Carter sighs
  102. ·
  103. Suktra messes around with the navigation now, looking for the basement
  104.
  105. DM_TZIVOS: Suktra, you manage to zip the camera around the house, getting a glimpse at the various stuff in it, as well as Brian's brother, before finding the basement
  106. ·
  107. Suktra places the remaining two machines in the basement, then goes looking for Brian's brother to give him the card
  108.
  109. DM_TZIVOS: Both the Cruxtruder and the Totem Lathe land with a heavy and medium *THUD* each in the basement, and Brian's bro takes the card out of curiosity
  110.
  111. Brian_Carter: I grab my phone and proceed.
  112.
  113. Brian_Carter: HS: Where's the card?
  114.
  115. Suktra: TS: Why don't you ask youR bRo? ~<
  116.
  117. DM_TZIVOS: Your bro speaks up, "Hey bro, got some random card"
  118.
  119. DM_TZIVOS: "Are you starting testing?"
  120.
  121. Suktra: TS: See? ~<
  122.
  123. Brian_Carter: 'Yeah, we started. Come downstairs with me."
  124.
  125. DM_TZIVOS: "Sure, I guess"
  126.
  127. Brian_Carter: You head to the cruxtruder and attempt to kick the lid off.
  128.
  129. Brian_Carter rolls 1d20+4 = 19
  130.
  131. DM_TZIVOS: You kick it off like someone from Boulevard Brawler, all poised and stuff
  132.
  133. Brian_Carter: "Alright bro. You know the deal. Try touching the sprite."
  134.
  135. DM_TZIVOS: following the lid, a plethora of red cruxite dowels comes flying out, and a red kernelsprite slowly floats out as well
  136.
  137. DM_TZIVOS: "Sure, I guess, but if it doesn't wanna touch me, I'm not gonna obsess over touching it"
  138.
  139. Brian_Carter: "Fine."
  140.
  141. Brian_Carter: "If it doesn't we'll try again after we get in."
  142.
  143. DM_TZIVOS: Your bro tries touching the sprite, but it doesn't want anything to do with him right now, it seems
  144.
  145. DM_TZIVOS: "Sure, why not"
  146.
  147. Brian_Carter: "Be right back."
  148.
  149. Brian_Carter: I run to his room and grab his padded gloves, and return.
  150.
  151. DM_TZIVOS: "Hey, I noticed a timer on the cruxtruder"
  152.
  153. DM_TZIVOS: "It's counting down"
  154.
  155. DM_TZIVOS: 4:00
  156.
  157. DM_TZIVOS: 3:59
  158.
  159. DM_TZIVOS: 3:58
  160.
  161. Brian_Carter: "Huh."
  162.
  163. Brian_Carter: I take a cruxite dowel, throw it in the lathe with the card.
  164.
  165. Suktra: TS: Oh look, moRe ominous stuff ~<
  166.
  167. DM_TZIVOS: Your bro puts the card in the lathe, since he's the one holding it, but you still pull the lever
  168.
  169. Brian_Carter: HS: I can cover it from here. Go contact Amdran. You need to do what I'm doing. Watch closely.
  170.
  171. Brian_Carter: While we wait, I check on the sprite.
  172.
  173. DM_TZIVOS: Very quickly, the clamps tighten their grip on the dowels and begin spinning extremely fast as the needle descends and begins carving
  174.
  175. DM_TZIVOS: The sprite is just casually floating in front of the cruxtruder
  176.
  177. DM_TZIVOS: and in a very brief moment, the dowel is fully carved
  178.
  179. Brian_Carter: "Hope you don't mind, I'm prototyping your gloves."
  180.
  181. DM_TZIVOS: The clamps loosen their grip, the needle ascends, and there's even a small *ding*
  182.
  183. Brian_Carter: I chuck them at the sprite.
  184.
  185. DM_TZIVOS: Your bro looks apprehensive, but he doesn't refuse
  186.
  187. DM_TZIVOS: The gloves impact with the sprite, and in a bright flash of light, the kernelsprite is now taking the visage of two padded gloves
  188.
  189. DM_TZIVOS: 3:40
  190.
  191. DM_TZIVOS: 3:39
  192.
  193. DM_TZIVOS: 3:38
  194.
  195. Brian_Carter: Alright.
  196.
  197. Brian_Carter: "I'm gonna go finish this shit. Once we enter, just touch the sprite."
  198.
  199. DM_TZIVOS: "okay, then"
  200.
  201. DM_TZIVOS: You suddenly hear a set of footsteps from upstairs as he says this
  202.
  203. Brian_Carter: I head upstairs.
  204.
  205. DM_TZIVOS: You find yourself staring face-to-face at a red-headed girl, roughly 5'11", wearing a weird red outfit with an obnoxiously long hood
  206.
  207. Brian_Carter: "Lucy, I assume."
  208.
  209. DM_TZIVOS: "Well hiya!"
  210.
  211. DM_TZIVOS: "I told you we'd meet!"
  212.
  213. Brian_Carter: "Hitching a ride?"
  214.
  215. DM_TZIVOS: "I just.... had some time to spare"
  216.
  217. DM_TZIVOS: "I thought I may as well pop in and maybe even tag along"
  218.
  219. Brian_Carter: "I guess you already know, but in regards to listening to your puns, I just... don't have the time."
  220.
  221. DM_TZIVOS: "Depends on what uh..... happens in the next few minutes"
  222.
  223. Brian_Carter: You make double pistols at her and laugh a bit.
  224.
  225. DM_TZIVOS: 3:30
  226.
  227. DM_TZIVOS: 3:29
  228.
  229. DM_TZIVOS: 3:28
  230.
  231. DM_TZIVOS: 3:27
  232.
  233. DM_TZIVOS: 3:26
  234.
  235. Brian_Carter: You throw the dowel on the alchemiter and press the button.
  236.
  237. DM_TZIVOS: "Oh, looks like you have a sense of humor after all! Haha!"
  238.
  239. Brian_Carter: "Shh, don't tell anyone, I'll hear about it for... all of time."
  240.
  241. DM_TZIVOS: The alchemiter flashes with a blinding light and there's an 18th century pocketwatch sitting where the dowel used to be
  242.
  243. DM_TZIVOS: you can hear its gears ticking and tocking
  244.
  245. Brian_Carter: I inspect the clock on it.
  246.
  247. DM_TZIVOS: It's counting down from 3 minutes
  248.
  249. Brian_Carter: I try to snap it.
  250.
  251. DM_TZIVOS: 3:25 | 2:59
  252.
  253. Brian_Carter: Wait.
  254.
  255. DM_TZIVOS: You fail to damage this clock in any way
  256.
  257. Brian_Carter: The timers on the clocks are different, I realize.
  258.
  259. DM_TZIVOS: in the middle of the clock is a small arrow pointing towards your kitchen
  260.
  261. Brian_Carter: "Wanna... watch?"
  262.
  263. DM_TZIVOS: "Hehe! You're good!" Lucy giggles
  264.
  265. DM_TZIVOS: the timer on the pocket watch keeps ticking, and the small arrow in the center of the clock keeps pointing to your kitchen
  266.
  267. Brian_Carter: "Let's go." I lead her towards the kitchen, following the arrow.
  268.
  269. DM_TZIVOS: In the kitchen you find a series of cruxite blocks with various angled lines and targets
  270.
  271. DM_TZIVOS: "Huh, looks like you got some side-objectives"
  272.
  273. Brian_Carter: "Any idea?"
  274.
  275. DM_TZIVOS: "I'll hang out in the living room, I guess. Don't wanna get in your way. Maybe you gotta break these. What else are the targets for?"
  276.
  277. Brian_Carter: "Fair enough."
  278.
  279. Brian_Carter: You walk up to a target and punch it.
  280.
  281. DM_TZIVOS: Your fist impacts with some really fuckin' hard cruxite
  282.
  283. DM_TZIVOS: ouch
  284.
  285. Brian_Carter: Ow.
  286.
  287. Brian_Carter: I inspect the blocks closer.
  288.
  289. DM_TZIVOS: They almost look made out of the kinda stuff you see on those sword demonstration videos, ~somehow~
  290.
  291. Brian_Carter: Okay, that makes sense. I pull out my sword and slice it on the line.
  292.
  293. Brian_Carter rolls 1d20+4 = 12
  294.
  295. DM_TZIVOS: You slice through the first line with minor ease
  296.
  297. DM_TZIVOS: Roll Athletics to slice and stab everything else
  298.
  299. Brian_Carter rolls 1d20+5 = 9
  300.
  301. DM_TZIVOS: You manage to hack and slash all the targets, but not very quickly
  302.
  303. Brian_Carter: You check the watch.
  304.
  305. DM_TZIVOS: 2:50 | 2:24
  306.
  307. DM_TZIVOS: 2:49 | 2:23
  308.
  309. Brian_Carter: Where's it pointing?
  310.
  311. DM_TZIVOS: It's pointing towards your front door
  312.
  313. Brian_Carter: You head to the front door.
  314.
  315. DM_TZIVOS: it's still pointing in that direction
  316.
  317. Brian_Carter: You head... outside?
  318.
  319. DM_TZIVOS: Once outside, you see a ring of cruxite surrounded by small cannon-looking things. The arrow points to the circle's center
  320.
  321. DM_TZIVOS: 2:48 | 2:22
  322.
  323. DM_TZIVOS: 2:47 | 2:21
  324.
  325. Brian_Carter: You fire the cannon-looking things
  326.
  327. DM_TZIVOS: 2:46 | 2:20
  328.
  329. DM_TZIVOS: You can't interact with any of the cannon-thingies
  330.
  331. DM_TZIVOS: 2:45 | 2:19
  332.
  333. DM_TZIVOS: 2:44 | 2:18
  334.
  335. Brian_Carter: You look closer.
  336.
  337. DM_TZIVOS: They look like they're attached to the ring, as if it were a railing for them to slide across
  338.
  339. Brian_Carter: You push them all towards the center
  340.
  341. Brian_Carter: Along the ring.
  342.
  343. DM_TZIVOS: The cannon-thingies don't budge
  344.
  345. DM_TZIVOS: The arrow on the pocket watch is still pointing at the circle's center,
  346.
  347. Brian_Carter: You go to the circle's center.
  348.
  349. DM_TZIVOS: 2:43 | 2:17
  350.
  351. Brian_Carter: You prepare to block objects flying at you.
  352.
  353. DM_TZIVOS: Once you step in the center, the cannon-thingies come to life, moving from side to side at increasingly rapid paces
  354.
  355. DM_TZIVOS: Roll athletics three times to deflect or Acrobatics three times to dodge
  356.
  357. Brian_Carter rolls 1d20+5 = 7
  358.
  359. Brian_Carter rolls 1d20+5 = 9
  360.
  361. Brian_Carter rolls 1d20+5 = 18
  362.
  363. DM_TZIVOS: You're bombarded with a plethora of small cruxite projectiles, each one letting out a buzezr sound until you deflect a few, each *dinging* as you hit them
  364.
  365. DM_TZIVOS: 2:26 | 2:00
  366.
  367. DM_TZIVOS: Roll athletics to keep it up
  368.
  369. Brian_Carter rolls 1d20+5 = 8
  370.
  371. DM_TZIVOS: once more, I'll be nice
  372.
  373. Brian_Carter rolls 1d20+5 = 14
  374.
  375. DM_TZIVOS: The cannon-thingies keep moving and shooting, and you keep deflecting until the dinging sounds, as well as the cannons' movement, finally stops
  376.
  377. DM_TZIVOS: 2:00 | 1:34
  378.
  379. Brian_Carter: Where to, watch?
  380.
  381. DM_TZIVOS: The arrow points back inside, in what you think is the basement's direction
  382.
  383. Brian_Carter: You return to the basement.
  384.
  385. DM_TZIVOS: Your bro's still standing there, staring at the sprite, but more importantly, you see much thinner and fragile looking targets in the sparring arena, which somehow is still unoccupied by anything
  386.
  387. Brian_Carter: You go break the shit out of them.
  388.
  389. DM_TZIVOS: as soon as you step into the ring, the targets start spinning around.
  390.
  391. DM_TZIVOS: Roll athletics with advantage to break them all
  392.
  393. Brian_Carter rolls 1d20+5 = 15
  394.
  395. Brian_Carter rolls 1d20+5 = 15
  396.
  397. DM_TZIVOS: You spend a moderate amount of time punching and kicking away at the targets, but you manage to fell every last one
  398.
  399. DM_TZIVOS: 1:30 | 1:04
  400.
  401. Brian_Carter: Next?
  402.
  403. DM_TZIVOS: "Hey bro, can the sprite hold anything more? Aside from potentially humans"
  404.
  405. DM_TZIVOS: "It intrigues me"
  406.
  407. Brian_Carter: "Only two prototypings."
  408.
  409. DM_TZIVOS: "really?"
  410.
  411. Brian_Carter: "Yeah."
  412.
  413. DM_TZIVOS: "Have we tested that"
  414.
  415. Brian_Carter: "HEY, LUCY"
  416.
  417. DM_TZIVOS: "Lucy suddenly appears behind you, tapping on your shoulder, "yes?"
  418.
  419. Brian_Carter: "Two prototypings?"
  420.
  421. DM_TZIVOS: "Usually yea, but sometimes there were extra prototypings involved for certain people"
  422.
  423. Brian_Carter: "Why?"
  424.
  425. DM_TZIVOS: "Good enough for me to try it out," Bro says as he starts unfastening his watch before chucking it at the sprite
  426.
  427. Brian_Carter: "NO"
  428.
  429. DM_TZIVOS: it absorbs it unceremoniously, and now there's a clock in the background behind the gloves
  430.
  431. Brian_Carter: You punch your Bro in the face.
  432.
  433. Brian_Carter rolls 1d20+4 = 16
  434.
  435. DM_TZIVOS: you give him a solid punch to the face
  436.
  437. Brian_Carter: And again.
  438.
  439. Brian_Carter rolls 1d20+4 = 17
  440.
  441. DM_TZIVOS: "Dude, we're testing the game! It's only logical to try something like this!"
  442.
  443. Brian_Carter: You give him another.
  444.
  445. DM_TZIVOS: Your bro prepared to dodge a second strike, so roll once more for disadvantage
  446.
  447. Brian_Carter rolls 1d20+4 = 17
  448.
  449. DM_TZIVOS: but you still manage to hit him anyways
  450.
  451. Brian_Carter: "This."
  452.
  453. Brian_Carter: "Is why."
  454.
  455. Brian_Carter: "I'm the fucking player."
  456.
  457. Brian_Carter: You check the watch again.
  458.
  459. DM_TZIVOS: Lucy decides to step in after the second hit and moves between you and your bro
  460.
  461. DM_TZIVOS: "Hey, not that I don't understand the sentiment of what's going on, but your pocket watch is getting close to zero"
  462.
  463. DM_TZIVOS: "and it's..... pointing at the sprite?"
  464.
  465. DM_TZIVOS: "huh, so this is one of those cases"
  466.
  467. Brian_Carter: "Fuck it."
  468.
  469. Brian_Carter: "I seem to get fucking infinite prototypings!"
  470.
  471. Brian_Carter: "This game is going to fucking kill me."
  472.
  473. Brian_Carter: I throw the pocketwatch at the sprite.
  474.
  475. Brian_Carter: "You may as well get in there too, Lucy. Everything vaguely associated with time."
  476.
  477. Brian_Carter: "Fuck, lets just throw the cruxtruder in there while we're at it."
  478.
  479. DM_TZIVOS: The sprite absorbs the pocket watch, and the clock background gets more clock-ier, while also displaying a clearly visible time matching that on the cruxtruder

  502.
  503. DM_TZIVOS: Did someone turn the heat on? You feel it getting hotter
  504.
  505. DM_TZIVOS: "Yea, yea, I got it. Go turn the heat off, why don'tcha" your bro says
  506.
  507. DM_TZIVOS: "Surprisingly hot down here"
  508.
  509. Brian_Carter: "Lucy, you're quicker."
  510.
  511. DM_TZIVOS: "Nah, I'm with your bro. I don't know how your heating works"
  512.
  513. Brian_Carter: "I can wait."

  541. DM_TZIVOS: "I guess I'll go see what the problem is, (as if I don't already know)," says Lucy
  542.
  543. DM_TZIVOS: She pops upstairs and calls to you, "Hey come check this out! Something really cool's heading our way!"
  544.
  545. Brian_Carter: "Look, I want to be here with you when this hits zero."
  546.
  547. DM_TZIVOS: "Also I need help with the heating"
  548.
  549. Brian_Carter: "We cool, bro?"
  550.
  551. DM_TZIVOS: Your bro reluctantly nods. "But turn the fucking heat down, alright?"
