  1. Session Start: Thu Apr 25 22:04:07 2013
  2. 01[22:17] <bonygrunt> hmm, I had a completely different idea that I thought would be cool for a side agdq event, but it actually could work really well online too
  3. [22:18] <Blechy> what's that
  4. 01[22:18] <bonygrunt> it wouldn't be serious at all and would be significantly less work so we may not even stream it, but we could let whoever enter and not worry about time constraints
  5. 01[22:19] <bonygrunt> give like a list of consoles and force entrants to pick 1-2 games to enter into the game pool
  6. 01[22:19] <bonygrunt> so the entrants decide the game list
  7. 01[22:19] <bonygrunt> then we just draw a game from the list
  8. 01[22:19] <bonygrunt> we'd probably need like one moderator making sure the goals are fine, but that's really it
  9. 01[22:19] <bonygrunt> and if someone drew their own game, we'd just redraw
  10. [22:20] <Blechy> hmm kind of like a round robin that's well organized up front and then people do it on their own time sorta?
  11. [22:20] <Blechy> in duos or whatever
  12. 01[22:20] <bonygrunt> would be way less work, wouldn't have to worry about stream stuff, could do it over a week or something (no time constraints at all)
  13. 01[22:20] <bonygrunt> pretty much
  14. 01[22:20] <bonygrunt> we'd host it on challonge or something so people can just race when they're around
  15. 01[22:21] <bonygrunt> wow this is great
  16. [22:21] <Blechy> yeah that's pretty cool. like a hybrid between rr and mystery tourn
  17. 01[22:21] <bonygrunt> it's building itself in my mind as we speak
  18. 01[22:21] <bonygrunt> haha
  19. 01[22:21] <bonygrunt> I like this
  20. 01[22:21] <bonygrunt> alright, #blind op meeting tomorrow
  21. 01[22:22] <bonygrunt> we need some feedback
  22. [22:22] <Blechy> haha
  23. 01[22:22] <bonygrunt> because I think this can work
  24. [22:22] <Blechy> sounds good, I'll be around
  25. 01[22:22] <bonygrunt> only concern is making sure goals are alright (because I want to play this time, grr)
  26. 01[22:22] <bonygrunt> but if we decide a moderator's necessary then I'd just "run" it
  27. 01[22:23] <bonygrunt> I like how you mentioned the round robin thing, it is pretty similar to that in a way
  28. 01[22:23] <bonygrunt> I wouldn't have made that connection
  29. 01[22:24] <bonygrunt> this could be really cool
  30. [22:25] <Blechy> yeah it's got all the pluses of both the mystery tourn and round robin, the only negatives are 1) it's not specific times (unless it is?) so it wouldn't be as easy for a third party to join, and 2) good goals like you said
  31. 01[22:25] <bonygrunt> I really like the freedom of racing when you want
  32. [22:26] <Blechy> yeah I know some oot & sm64 tourns have done that in the past
  33. 01[22:26] <bonygrunt> when people matched up are both around, then they race and link someone who can moderate the brackets the results
  34. [22:26] <Blechy> we'd prob have to set a deadline though
  35. 01[22:26] <bonygrunt> yeah, for sure
  36. [22:26] <Blechy> we may want to organize seeds based on time zone just to make it easier
  37. 01[22:26] <bonygrunt> agreed
  38. 01[22:27] <bonygrunt> maybe 72 hours or something for an entire round to be completed
  39. 01[22:27] <bonygrunt> if people don't play we'll talk to them and see what's up
  40. 01[22:27] <bonygrunt> give the person who couldn't race a loss
  41. 01[22:27] <bonygrunt> (assuming the other person isn't lying but I really doubt that would happen)
  42. 01[22:28] <bonygrunt> it can take a month if it has to, that's the best part :)
  43. 01[22:28] <bonygrunt> ahhhhh I love this
  44. [22:29] <Blechy> would you do it same as last time, and just have people sign up on challonge if interested and cater to as many as possible?
  45. 01[22:30] <bonygrunt> yeah
  46. 01[22:30] <bonygrunt> we wouldn't have to worry about a max or min number of entrants really
