You (the speaker), one of the cute maids of the house, wakes up in the middle of the night only to find your favourite person, the seemingly strict chef, still working. You decide to keep them company in the kitchen while they finish their work. After they finish up, you make them a little midnight snack and offer some comforting words of appreciation for all they do for the house and its staff.

What are you doing here so late? The rest of the house staff all went to bed.

You're still working?

Well, that's no fun. What are you making?

[playful] What, rude! Don't tell me to get out! I'm only looking~

I just want to see what you're cooking up. Maybe even steal a little taster~?

If you give me a taste, I'll be out of your hair!

[giggle] Thank you!

Mmm~ What is this?

Ooh, fancy. But why are you doing all this prep work *now*? And why are you alone? It looks like you still have a lot to do.

You let them take the rest of the night off?

[sympathetic] But now you're doing all this work by yourself. Are you sure that was wise?

Wow. You're always like that, you know? You act all tough in front of the rest of them, but I can see right through that!

Nice try. You're just a big softy, aren't you~

"You thought I was going to leave"? [playful] Again, rude. Suddenly I don't feel like it~

What, I just want to keep you company!

[giggle] You say that, but I know you like me here~

Fine. I'll just sit down and wait until you're finished, ok?


So...do you really have to get this done tonight?

Oh, right, big important party. I kind of forgot about that, honestly. Whoops [laughs]

I know it's my job to wait on the guests, but I can't help it! I just forget these things!

But all of this tonight, really?

I see. Schedule's pretty full tomorrow as well, huh?

Do you maybe want some help?

[teasing] Wow. If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were trying to get rid of me.

Ok *wow*.

[laughs] See? You *are* just a big softy~


[yawn] Mhm. It's super late. I didn't think anybody would be up still.

I know I shouldn't be up either, but here we find ourselves. [sigh]

[whiny] I just wanted some water, don't scold me!

It was still bright in the kitchen, so I came to see why. Maybe someone was stealing food or something.

Yeah it's usually me doing all the stealing~ [giggle]

But aren't you tired?

Hmm. I guess you *do* have to finish this.

[sympathetic] You work so hard, I hope the rest of them can see that.

I know that's just who you are, but they should understand how much you do for them. I hope you know that *I* do.

Yeah you're always making food for me! [laughs] [soft] But you know what I mean, don't you?

[yawn] Do you still have much more to get through? I'm kind of...fading...a bit...-no wait, I'm still awake!

I think...I'm just going to put my head on the table. Keep talking, ok? I'll be...listening...

[groggy] -Hmm? Oh hey, you~

Wait, was I sleeping? Oh my goodness I am so sorry I left you like that!

Did you manage to finish up your prep work?

Oh, that's good, at least. Sit with me for a while then.

Just for a teeny tiny little bit. Just a bit. Come on.

I know we should both be asleep, but I didn't see you much today. I won't keep you long.

Great~ So aside from all this late night-

Wait, are you ok?

No, don't say that. You kind of just crumpled in your chair.

I guess all of this took it out of you, huh?

Umm, ok, umm...oh, let me make you some tea or something! And have you had anything to eat?

Ok! I'll make something for you as well!

No, let me do this! I'm always stealing *from* you, now let me steal something *for* you.

I am just *fine* in the kitchen, thank you very much. That was one time.

Just once.

[SFX: crockery rattling or other such kitchen sounds] Now let me just find...hey, no, sit down. I can get this stuff myself. You just sit there and relax.

Umm...so...I'm actually going to stick with something simple. I hope that's ok?

Ok great, I won't be too long.


[soft] [teasing] Hey, you know it's unbecoming of the chef to sleep at the table~

[giggle] Those glares don't have the same effect when you're this tired.

Here you go. I made your tea sweet.

It's what you always do for me when I'm feeling down, so I figured I'd do the same.

[nervous] And, um, here's your little midnight snack. I'm obviously not as good as our esteemed head chef here, but I hope you like it.

I, uh...I'm just going to sit next to you and cover my eyes until you're finished eating. Please don't hate me if it's bad!


[surprised] Oh...ok! Acceptable is good enough for me! With your taste, I'd consider that a victory!

[giggle] I know you were only joking. Are you feeling a bit better?

That's good. With how hard you've been working, a little bit of a reward is the least I could do.

I mean, some tea and a snack isn't much of a reward, but I guess it's the thought that counts? Maybe?

I don't know, I just wanted to do something nice for you.

Mhm. You always do what you need to without complaining or anything like that. And you put on such a strict front, but I know how much you care about every one of us.

[teasing] No no no, drop the act. It's just me here, and you're *always* softer with me.

[smug] Mhmm. Sure. But like I was saying, you put so much into helping everyone else, you need to be sure to show yourself some of that same kindness. Especially after today.

No, come on! You sent everybody out early and did all this work by yourself! Even though it might have been a tad reckless, you did so much and now it's time to take a break! You deserve it.

You're hearing me, right? A *b r e a k*.

You can start thinking about all of that tomorrow. Stay strong, work hard and power through all of that stuff *then*, but now, it's time to stay here and just *sit*.

If you don't do that, the next time you need to work you won't be able to do anything properly.

[exasperated sigh] It's *fine*! You know what, let me just rest my head on your shoulder, ok? That should keep you here and force you to relax.

[playfully threatening] If you don't, I'm going to come and *find* you.

But this can be a part of that first break. As long as you relax.

I know *that*, but who's going to kick us out? Nobody should even be awake now. We can just sit here for a while. [yawn]

Yeah I am tired. I guess I forgot that I just woke up for some water.

No, it was no problem at all. I'm glad I was able to help you out.

Mhmm. [yawn] Anytime, anytime. As long as you keep letting me swipe food from your kitchen~

Ouch! Is that what we're doing now? Flicking the cute maid on the head?

[jokingly] Rude. [giggle] At least it woke me up.

[whiny] I *know* we can't sleep in the kitchen! I'm the one that said that earlier!

But if you're going to wake me up like that, then you also need to head to bed.

Come on, get up. You are going to your room right now and taking a much-deserved rest.

Nope! I'm going to make you leave this kitchen first.
