Hiyakkie the Simipour

Hiyakkie is a Simipour from the Alola Region. He was given to Strider as an egg shortly before the 2019 World Championships. Strider is a Fire-type specialist and wasn’t sure what to do with a water-type monkey. Nonetheless, Strider’s ace Lizardon (Charizard) was more than willing to take the baby Panpour under its wing, and Windie the Arcanine showed its own acceptance of Hiyakkie by licking its face for 5 minutes nonstop.

The first thing Strider and his team did was figure out what a Panpour was capable of learning. Hiyakkie was already blessed with Nasty Plot, an extremely useful setup move for a special attacker like Simipour. Strider and Hiyakkie agreed that a Nasty Plot sweeper set would bring out the most potential, and they immediately began to learn the Scald, Ice Beam, and Grass Knot techniques.

Such training didn’t mean it was all work and no play for Strider and Hiyakkie. Strider’s Fire team made sure to show lots of love to the water simian, and Strider gave it plenty to eat. With photo shoots, bouncy houses, and fortune tellers, Strider and Hiyakkie became firm friends in no time.

The true challenge came at the Battle Royal arena. While Lizardon and Windie could hold their own, Hiyakkie just didn’t have enough strength as a Panpour. Not wanting to be a burden, and wanting to repay Strider’s teammates for the kind help they had given him, Hiyakkie expressed his desire to evolve. This meant a long trek to search for a Water Stone. After a weeklong search, Hiyakkie found one underwater off of Route 8. As soon as he reached the surface, he was a Simipour. The competition at the Battle Royal melted in the face of Hiyakkie’s newfound power, earning him the coveted Battle Royal Master ribbon!
