Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain

Alexithymiaa: -Steph was lying in bed with her notebook in her lap, a pen held loosely between her fingers. She'd spent a good majority of her day today writing since Felix had gotten the book for her so between her naps, she'd had her nose in the notebook.-
Covet: Felix was doing something bad and was outside smoking. He'd taken that back up a little bit over the weekend because of the stress. But he'd switched up to using a vape pen because the smell wasn't as noticeable, and he could get a lower dose nicotine. // Cadence walked into Steph's room, bringing Trick in his stroller. She brought him over to Steph's bed, and then went and flopped onto the couch. "Oh my god, I need a fucking massage."

Alexithymiaa: -She lifted her eyes from her book when she heard the door opening, expecting to see Felix on his way back in only to find Cadence instead. She sent her a smile, happy to see her and Trick as she leaned her hand out to wiggle her fingers into his tummy. "Am I supposed to have some sort of reasonable response to that?' She asked, taking a deep breath.-
Covet: "I don't know, maybe?" Cadence said. "I'm just sore. and tired. I feel like all I've been doing is sleeping." She said hearing her phone go off, she gave a whine. " And I'm having the stupidest arguement with Remy over this next weekend." She got up and walked over to the stroller to get her phone out of her bag.
Alexithymiaa: "I know the feeling." She said with a sigh, moving her hand to adjust the oxygen that had been bothering her. "What are you guys arguing about?"-
Covet: "Oh right... Sorry Dick." Cadence said as she read the message with a grumble and responded. "I'm supposed to bring Trick to go see him this weekend. Okay fine, no big deal right. But I told him I'm not staying at the house, I'll get a hotel room and now he's having a fit about it because he says that's stupid." She explained, then spoke out while typing. "I don't care. That's what I'm doing. Deal. with. it."
Alexithymiaa: "Does he not understand what separated means?" She asked with a roll of her eyes, settling backward into her pillow.-
Covet: "Apparently not. I already told him we could go out for breakfast and talk. Not that I'm changing anything, but I don't want to be that kind of asshole parent who can't co-parent." Cadence said with a sigh putting her phone back. "I'm just glad that Trick is little enough to not be able to understand any of this."
Alexithymiaa: "Yeah... if he were older this would be so much harder on him. Even a little older and he'd be just old enough to be confused about it and want to know more." She pushed her hair back out of her face, sucking in a deep breath.-
Covet: "Mhhm. But.. We'll cross that bridge when we get there." Cadence said then looked at Steph, "So how much longer are you stuck in here? Cause I want to go look at the fun wedding stuff with you." // Felix came in, chewing some gum, and a smile on his face, his vape pen tucked away in his jeep hiding. He walked over to go steal Trick because he knew it would distract Steph from any questions as to what he was doing. "And how's my Godson doing today huh?" He said holding him in his lap.
Alexithymiaa: (You know shes going to find that eventually you asshole.)
Covet: [he is but he's going to hide it for as long as he can XD because he never learns.]
Alexithymiaa: -She gave a little shrug. "No idea. No one tells me anything, and you know how much I just loveeeee that." She rolled her eyes, her attention jumping to Felix when eh came in and scooped up Trick. "Did you see the doctor out there?"-
Covet: "I'm sorry. Hopefully it is soon. I don't care if we have to take you in a wheelchair. I'm looking forward to this distraction." Cadence said. // Felix shook his head, "Um, No but I also wasn't really paying attention either." He said with a guilty shrug. "Why do you ask?" He asked making faces at Trick who was smiling away, clearly entertained.
Alexithymiaa: "Better be soon..." She mumbled, unable to take her eyes off of Felix with Trick. He would get away with it for now. "Because I want to talk to him about when I'm going to be released. I want to go home and sleep in my own bed."-
Covet: "No joke. But I understand their concern. I mean, you had a freakin heart attack Dick." Cadence said looking at her concerned. // Felix looked at Steph. "You've asked him every day, they want to make sure you're not going to end back up in here hours after they realease you."
Alexithymiaa: "I know. I don't need to be reminded. That doesn't mean I don't want to go home though. I know what I have to do and now I just have to be given the opportunity to do it. I need to get back to feeling like myself." She moved her hands up to push through her hair, letting out a sigh. "Bruce, I'd actually like it if you helped me dye my hair back."-
Covet: "Oh, okay so long as we're not doing anything with amonia or bleach I can probably be okay to do that." Cadence said with a nod of her head. // Felix looked up and over at her, "Wait, what!? I was finally used to the silver... Tin Man." he said with a pout, that also made Trick get a little sad and he started to make the little sad baby noises.
Alexithymiaa: "Nope, light to dark should be fine. It's just easier to do with an extra set of hands." She looked over to Trick starting to fuss, putting her hands out. "It's not me and you're making my nephew fussy. Like I said, I need to get back to feeling like myself if I'm going to move in a good direction. Now give me him."-
Covet: Cadence looked over at Felix, "What are you doing to him? He was just happy." She said furrowing her brow at him. // "But but.. Fine.. I guess it will make sense for me to call you Red again." He said with a bit of a shrug, getting up to bring Trick back over to Steph.
Alexithymiaa: -She brought Trick in to her chest, giving him a little bounce. "Why do you smell weird, kid?" She asked, making it more of a cutesy question in a high voice to Trick than accusatory in any real way. "You don't have a choice. It's my hair and I need it to be my hair again."-
Covet: "Rude, why do you got to make him feel awkward for smelling weird? He might be do for a diaper change here before too much longer." Cadence said. // Felix looked at Steph. " I said Fine!" He said all defensively.
Alexithymiaa: "He's fine, stop it." She lifted him up a bit so she could smell his diaper, shaking her head. "I don't smell a dirty diaper. I think he's okay for now." She brought him back down, craddling him to herself as she looked at Felix. "Hey... watch your tone."-
Covet: "You stop it. You're bullying my kid." Cadence said being all fake dramatic. "Okay, well if that changes let me know and I'll ask Felix to do it." // Felix threw up his hands, then looked at the two of them, "What the hell why am I being shit on all of a sudden?"
Alexithymiaa: "Am not." She said quickly, stroking her hand over Trick's head. "Who's shitting on you? I asked you not to raise your voice at me, and she asked you to change his diaper soon. No one's shitting on you. You really need to take a deep breath right now."-
Covet: "It's okay She's an asshole to everyone she loves, Trick." She said to him, then looked at Felix, "Nobody is shitting on you....yet." Cadence said, "And I'm pregnant, and she's you know a patient in the fucking hospital, so that leaves you delegated to diaper duty." // Felix glared at the two of them. " Trick... you see this.. this is how they control us... protect your balls while you can."
Alexithymiaa: -She sucked in a deep breath, narrowing her eyes on Felix because she wanted to punch him right now. "Excuse you. You and your balls aren't forced to do anything you don't want to do. You chose this life. Don't brainwash my nephew against the women who love him."-
Covet: Cadence just pursed her lips as Steph got after Felix for his smart ass remarks. // Felix crossed his arms and rolled his eyes with a huff, " I'm not brainwashing him, I'm giving him the sad facts of life. Better he learns it now."
Alexithymiaa: "Well I'm sorry that your life is just so tragic." She said with a frown, clearly getting offended and taking all the shit personally. She leaned over to set Trick in his stroller beside her bed, avoiding eye contact with Felix and falling into silence.-
Covet: Cadence cleared her throat and went to get Trick buckled in and all that. " Well, I think Trick and I are going to head back to the house and check on the animals." She said. // Felix sighed looking at Steph, he got up and went to climb into bed with her, "Hey, I didn't mean it so personally, it was just a joke."
Alexithymiaa: "Thank you for coming, Bruce. It was good to see you guys." She forced a smile despite feeling shitty in the moment, not looking into Felix's face as she grumbled. "Didn't seem like a joke..."-
Covet: "I promise it was." He told her, pressing a kiss to the side of her head. "Besides, it's not like I didn't willingly put my balls in your hands when I proposed. So I don't exactly get to complain." He said. // Cadence started for the door, "Yeah, of course. Happy to come see you, and I'm going to leave before I have to hear anymore about his balls."
Alexithymiaa: -She sent a wave to Cadence and Trick on their way out before turning her head to Felix. "Not something I really want to hold captive."-
Covet: "But, you can if you want them. They're all yours Red." He said with a grin, wrapping his arms around her. "Later Cadence. Drive safe and give Nugget a few extra treats for me." // "Yeah, yeah, I'll take care of him and the other furballs too." Cadence said, having added at least her dog to the mix because her cats were fine on their own.
Alexithymiaa: -She gave a little shrug, tipping her head into him to rest on his shoulder, still not altogether shaking that dwelling feeling she'd just taken on. "It should be equal."-
Covet: "It is, Red. I'm just being dramatic. I love you. And there's nothing I wouldn't do for you. Whether I do it willingly or because you told me to." He said giving her another kiss on the cheek.
Alexithymiaa: "I know.... I know that. I don't know why that bothered me, I'm sorry. I'm just not feeling like myself." She pushed her hands up over her face, pushing her glasses out of the way to rub at her eyes.-
Covet: "It's okay, We'll get you there soon, Red." He told her, looking at her. " For what it's worth I think you're closer to being yourself than you might think."
Alexithymiaa: "But if I don't think I'm myself, how close could I really be?" She asked, reaching for his hand.-
Covet: "Think of it like... you're behind a curtain, getting ready for a show. You're close.. but still need to get the rest of the things into place." He said to her rubbing her back.
Alexithymiaa: "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain..." She said softly, wrinkling her nose and then leaning in to rest her head on him again. She closed her eyes, giving in to the battle of sleepiness. "You're going to stay right here, right?"-
Covet: Felix chuckled and pulled her in close, "Yep, I'll be here all night, Red." He told her laying his head on the pillow, relaxing with her and eventually falling asleep.
