  1. Greg Malivuk
  2. http://www.pastebin.com/u/gmalivuk - Notes from all my classes
  3. ---
  4. Writing Section:
  5. - last section (directly after speaking)
  6. - 2 essays:
  7. - Integrated = read (3 minutes), listen, write (20 minutes)
  8. - Independent = read a prompt and write about it (30 minutes)
  9. ---
  10. The first thing to do when you see a prompt is brainstorm: write down all the ideas you can think of which are related to the prompt (don’t worry yet if they’re good or bad ideas)
  11. ---
  12. Handout p. 228 - Take one minute to write down as many reasons as you can think of to agree and to disagree with statement 1.
  13. ---
  14. For 2, the person on the left in each pair has to agree, and on the right has to disagree. Take 1 minute to write as many reasons as you can think of. Then explain your reasons to your partner and, as a pair, decide whether “agree” or “disagree” is the easier topic to write about.
  15. - To disagree, you have a couple of different options:
  16. 1 Science is unimportant.
  17. 2 Many subjects are equally important.
  18. 3 Another specific subject is more important than science.
  19. ---
  20. Do the same for 3, but switch roles. Is the option you chose (the easier to write about) also the option you personally agree with? Why or why not?
  21. ---
  22. Homework: p. 234 (last page of the handout) - Write a few sentences to complete each paragraph prompt.
