A brief history: Krystal is the last surviving member of the Topaz Soulstone's holder line. There were initially 9 Soulstones created. However only 8 were needed to contain the Beast. The ninth Soulstone was kept as it was the most powerful. It's soulbound Pokemon being none other than Thundurus. (Zerus was able to call upon Thundurus but he couldn't control it fully)
Krystal can harvest electricity.
She joined the Republican Government because she saw its corruption and planned to take it down from the inside.
After learning of the Argent Revolution she allied herself with them and the game's events started. The Revolution views her as a spy for them. She doesn't reveal her true nature until well into the post-game because she knows the powers of Topaz Soulstone are dangerous and could very well destroy her.
