hinder him. And when the giant saw that he had lost his
sword, he became so angry that he almost lost his mind. He
ran King Arthur down on horseback and grabbed him by
the shoulders; he meant to take him down by raw strength,
and he would have done so if he could have, for he was very
strong.
When King Arthur felt the giant on him, he threw his
sword to the ground, because he was afraid that he might
take it away from him by force. Then he put both arms
around his horse’s neck, while the giant jerked and pulled,
but he could not take him out of the saddle. And King Ban
looked around and saw the bout between King Arthur and
King Rion, so he spurred to that side because he was very
much afraid for King Arthur.
