  1. So first thoughts were wow this is a total RTD homage, the characters, situation, way it’s shot all feels 2007. Good but wow tonal whiplash from week to week.
  2.
  3. Companions just asking questions all the time. The end was laughable with the companions in their own shot just asking questions. I liked Doc saying “you don’t have a clue” and Yaz “don’t speak to him like that” lol err they really don’t though and I was hoping they would just go and find the Master, but feared it was going to be The Scene Where Doc Says The Arc Can Wait and it was lol. Put the arc off for a few weeks there we go, like clockwork. LOL at Yaz asking “what happened in the rest of the episode Doc?” And her just explaining it all, very clunky.
  4.
  5. Speaking of arcs, I had a feeing it was Gallifrey-y cos the glass panel had the symbols on it.
  6.
  7. How weak. Well I loved that Doctor she was great. But the chameleon arc has not been mentioned in 13 years!!! Or maybe since then but you know, no setup in this new reboot era. Rushed rushed rushed and more nostalgia with an old Tardis. I wish the show would just embrace the history and be a totally Chasing the Master story instead of going from nothing last week to this total RTD homage with TWO big canon moments, Jack and another Doctor. It feels like nostalgia a bit too soon after the Moffat years but at least go all out instead of dripfeeding it as special moments, it was special but it still felt like “oh they’re getting their money’s worth out of that 2013 An Adventure in Time and Space set.

  9. Jack. Cool but LOL at the yellow lens flares on his ship to amp up the scenes, his ship looked pretty budget and pathetic. Also blue flares on the other Doc’s Tardis. John Barrowman felt a bit like he was straining to bring the same energy as before, don’t think it was his age or whatever just a bit of a crap setup for him to work with, passing by. Love the way he says regeneration, good with him thinking Graham is the Doc.
  10.
  11. Bit weird at the end where Doc says “Captain Jack Harkness” twice, it just felt like, even though she’d just called him Jack, like why the full name? Again feels like Jodie hasn’t watched it all properly. But also seemed to be Chibnall spelling it out for us, here are the big three things, The Master, Captain Jack Harkness, Ruth.
  12.
  13. Pulling off the horn seemed too easy, surely there’d be more of a struggle, it was like ripping off a party hat or something!
  14.
  15. So theory atm is I dunno early Time Lords were warriors and there was a Time War before the First Doc that made he/she forget their past. Maybe controversial, probably whatever it is will be.
  16.
  17. Doc still had so much wordy dialogue and there was a scene when Doc was talking to Ruth after she fought the Judoon… where Jodie looked like she’d just had enough of al the jargon and had run out of steam lol.
  18.
  19. I wish there was just a few more sides to the Doc, she just feels too action figure stagnant, always with a chip on her shoulder and out of breath.
  20.
  21. Watching it back, John going “he needs to know the future of the universe is at stake” he just seems like here we go again, his heart isn’t really in it :P It’s a bit of a vague statement, what universe?
  22.
  23. Just weird dumb bits like Jack tells the trio he is going to set the scoop to send them back to near where they came from… he disappears and Yaz goes “are we just stuck here now?” Errr no Jack just told you what’s going to happen! Something like Yaz saying “How long’s it going to take then?” or something, but just idiotic simple dialogue makes Yaz look stupid.
  24.
  25. The Cybermen in ruins brought down to nothing would be a bit cooler if their arc was intact and not f’d up by Moffat to be nothing.
  26.
  27. Loved the other Doc’s glasses and ooh her Tardis floor is metal grills like 9/10’s :D
  28.
  29. Even the shots of the Tardis being tractor beamed and flying were SO RTD Journey’s End.
