Taking a Breather Edition

Hey guys, how’s it goin?

Last week, I had something that could be called either a mental breakdown or an epiphany, depending on your perspective. I was not having fun playing video games and it was affecting my performance. I think I let the 4 1/2 hours I wasted making no progress on Tetrisphere on New Years Eve get to me. I thought I would be able to continue to find fun in playing Tetrisphere at the highest levels, but I can’t. The difficulty spike between the first half of each mode and the second half is frustrating and does not really give any opportunity to adapt and get better. I will end up struggling through a lot of that game in order to satisfy the donation incentive.

I’m doing two different things to pick up my spirits. I’m trying to get a lot more laughter in my life so I’m watching a lot of stand up comedy. The Comedy Central roasts are generally an effective means of getting lots of concentrated laughter. The other thing I’m distracting myself with is that I’ve finally taken the plunge and started playing the mobile version of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links. It’s an interesting take on the classic formula, but with as much support Konami is putting into it, I’m wondering if Konami is even endorsing a current game that’s a strict simulation of the card game. I feel like they’ve moved on from Legacy of the Duelist and Duel Generation. I think I would play one of those more if they were still active.

This week, I’m going to watch AGDQ and take it easy. Work is going to be stressful enough to deal with as it is while I continue to catch up from my vacation. I don’t think I’m going to be getting any Tetris Attack routing done.
