2017 review and what I want to do in 2018

Here were the goals and things I wanted to do or try from my previous pastebin about 8 months ago

1) Finally beat Tales of Berseria
Done. Enjoyed the game overall.

2) Non custom GX Racing League competition: Try to win it while using different machines for every track
I managed to win the entire competition under this condition

3) Beat Stella Glow
Yes, but man such a lengthy game. It was fun and a decent challeng though, and the story was decent enough. Reading through the dialogue I missed online was neat.

4) Pick up Kirby’s Planet Robobot once again and beat it
Took me a while but I beat the final boss early this year. Still haven’t collected all of the cubes and I haven’t really tried the other modes

5) Finally finish Divinity Original Sin Enhanced edition (both solo and co-op with friend campaigns)
Never got to that because I ended up getting D:OS 2. My co op playthrough with my friend is still on going. Currently on hiatus though.

6) Start playing Breath of the Wild and Redout. And try to become competitive with Redout
Only played BotW for a handful of hours. I played Redout close to a month fairly often before getting back to GX. I’m okay I suppose. Played it enough to learn the tracks fairly well (that I have downloaded at least)

7) Eventually start with the rest of my backlog of games bit by bit: Golden Sun, Trails in the Skies, finish Wonderful 101, start Rayman Legends, A Link Between Time, X-Com…

8) For GX max speed, just try to get more runs that I will be content with and would be very difficult to improve upon (meaning the final PB I set on the course ever hopefully). The next major milestones are passing Chrizzle, Stiff, and JKLoser and sub 41 minutes. I’m not in much of a rush to do that. I am certain I will be able to do all of those things.
The sub 41 milestone wasn’t a 2017 goal. By the end of 2017 I passed Chrizzle and my total at the end of the year was at around 41:19

9) Unleashed: Release version 2.0
Released it back in November

10) Try new games and actually beat them. Maybe get into ARMS?
I recently beat Mario+Rabbids Kingdom battle. I probably won’t get ARMS, but Splatoon 2 perhaps…?

11) Get Super Mario Odyssey and maybe a couple other Switch games
Got Odyssey. Recently spent a lot of time with it and beat the final challenge. Great game, and now I can finally watch all of the speedruns without spoiling anything major. Probably won’t ever bother trying to collect all of the Moons.

12) Git gud with Redout. I’m hoping this game fulfills my desire to play a highly competitive online, skillful arcade racing game.
Not sure how good I am with Redout. Stopped playing it months ago to get back into GX and to wait for the update that fixed the wall grinding exploit. Right now I don’t have a strong urge to get back into Redout even though that update is now out.

Regarding AGDQ, well I never really expected to have been selected to run GX. I really wanted to run GX for a GDQ one day but I didn’t think it’d happen this soon. But I’m glad it happened and the AGDQ 2018 experience was awesome. I had pretty high expectations for the run, challenging myself to use difficult and risky starts, but not everything panned out. I’m still proud of how I performed regardless.

Current 2018 Goals and plans
1) Sub 41 minute total time for the GX max speed ladder, and hopefully rank 5. I might need to fend off one or a few players to snatch that position for myself though
2) Attend either SGDQ or NASA. Leaning towards NASA at the moment but many things can make me change my mind. If I decide on going to NASA I’ll submit one of the mods of GX. I will likely not submit GX for SGDQ or perhaps any future GDQ. Running at a GDQ once is enough for me.
3) Beat Odyssey (Done!) and BotW, in that order (really want to watch some speedruns of both games)
4) Get Mario Tennis Aces. Very hyped for the game and I hope it turns out great.
5) Write up a detailed machine stats document for F-Zero GX with more accurate grades
6) Beat the staff ghosts in superSANIC’s GXTREME GX mod
7) Maybe one last update for GX Unleashed. Hopefully I or someone discovers out how to modify the AI racers handicapping and default machine setting
