  12. <Bunton> I'm here.
  13. <Vivax> Put your character below deck please.
  14. <Gara> Alice is below deck, still, likely near Straal.
  15. <Bunton> Ninny is below deck, sitting on a curled up George.
  16. <Snowshoe> Straal is sitting against a wall behind a stack of barrels, waiting for someone to jump Alice.
  17. <Vivax> Everybody give me perception checks.
  18. <Vivax> (get above a 10)
  19. <Bunton> 1d20+4
  20. <CROM> Bunton: 8 (1d20+4=4)
  21. <Bunton> ...
  22. <Gara> d20+6 Okay.
  23. <CROM> Gara: Okay.: 10 (d20+6=4)
  24. <Snowshoe> Does the boost from nocturnal apply?
  25. <Vivax> This is auditory.
  26. <Vivax> (Buton roll for George too)
  27. <Snowshoe> d20+8
  28. <CROM> Snowshoe: 24 (d20+8=16)
  29. <Bunton> Does he get the same stats as me?
  30. <Bunton> 1d20
  31. <CROM> Bunton: 2 (1d20=2)
  32. <Vivax> Alright.
  33. <Vivax> Alice and Straal hear the sound of wood breaking. Somewhere deep in the cargo hold.
  34. <Vivax> George and Ninny are placidly sitting until George says he smells something "funny" coming from deeper in the ship.
  35. <Gara> Alice sighs. "Should I even bother investigating?"
  36. <Vivax> After the snap of broken wood Straal hears the sound of flowing water.
  37. <Snowshoe> Straal stands and heads towards the sound. "If there's a hole in the boat..."
  38. <Bunton> N: "What do you mean by "funny"?"
  39. <Gara> Alice follows Straal.
  40. <Vivax> G: "Funny weird? Funny like...the smell of a spring and anger"
  41. <Bunton> "Huh". Ninny notices everyone moving about, and gets up to follow them.
  42. <Snowshoe> Straal draws her bow, because it can't hurt to be prepared and ships don't break on their own.
  43. <Gara> Alice draws knives.
  44. <Bunton> Ninny moves in between Alice and Straal, so he's shielded on both sides.
  45. <Vivax> So you head deeper into the cargo hold. It is /dark/ down here. Lanterns hang against the walls but the cramped quarters obscure the light.
  46. <Vivax> You hear the creaking of the ship and the sound of boots above.
  47. <Vivax> You also hear the sound of dripping, flowing water. Those of you who are barefoot feel water underfoot.
  48. <Bunton> Ninny starts at the feeling, and climbs on Alice's head.
  49. <Gara> Alice isn't going to let that happen. "What the hell, stop."
  50. <Snowshoe> Straal continues moving towards the sound, ignoring the shenanigans behind her.
  51. <Bunton> "Uh... well, I know you might have trouble seeing, so I thought I'd... help."
  52. <Bunton> "I can be your eyes!"
  53. <Gara> "I can and will stab you."
  54. <Gara> Alice does not sound amused.
  55. <Bunton> "But... the floor's all wet..."
  56. <Vivax> Do you look at the floor?
  57. <Gara> "I don't care. Get off, or I'll make you." Sure?
  58. <Bunton> Yes.
  59. <Bunton> "...fine." Ninny gets down.
  60. <Vivax> Perception!!
  61. <Gara> Alice sighs.
  62. <Bunton> 1d20+4
  63. <CROM> Bunton: 16 (1d20+4=12)
  64. <Gara> d20+6
  65. <CROM> Gara: 17 (d20+6=11)
  66. <Vivax> The water isn't moving with the ship. It's not flowing down. It's moving towards the side of the ship.
  67. <Vivax> Do you taste the water?
  68. <Gara> No.
  69. <Bunton> No.
  70. <Bunton> In fact, yes.
  71. *** NachtRuine [Mibbit@synIRC-7027F3B8.hsd1.fl.comcast.net] has joined #New_World
  72. <Bunton> Let's say I land in it.
  73. <Vivax> It's fresh water. A little stale but it's fresh.
  74. <Vivax> What do you guys do?
  75. <Snowshoe> Straal is still looking for whatever wooden thing broke.
  76. <Gara> Alice keeps walking with Straal.
  77. <Bunton> Ninny jumps up.
  78. <Bunton> "Uh... I may not be used to sea, but isn't salt water supposed to be... salty?"
  79. <Gara> "Yes."
  80. <Bunton> "Funny. Because this isn't."
  81. <Gara> "... Huh."
  82. <Vivax> Straal locates the source of the sound. Several water barrels have cracked.
  83. <Vivax> Water is moving uncharacteristically slowly out of the barrels.
  84. <Bunton> "Okay, let me get this straight."
  85. <Snowshoe> Straal walks closer to the barrels and examines them.
  86. <Bunton> "Our fresh water supply has been damaged."
  87. <Gara> "Yes."
  88. <Bunton> "Is that a correct summary of the situation?"
  89. <Bunton> "Ah."
  90. <Vivax> SnowShoe: Perception.
  91. <Bunton> Ninny drops to the floor and desperately starts drinking the water.
  92. <Snowshoe> d20+10 applying nocturnal
  93. <CROM> Snowshoe: applying nocturnal: 14 (d20+10=4)
  94. <Gara> "So, uh. Fuck we're in trouble." Alice walks with Straal always.
  95. <NachtRuine> Toki approaches the large group, throwing axe in hand. "Wha's goin' on? Heard somethin'."
  96. <Bunton> "*Gurgly*"
  97. <Bunton> "*Gurgle*"
  98. <Gara> "Water barrel broke, from the look of it."
  99. <Vivax> Straal: You the water ripples when you get close, ripples /away/ from you.
  100. <Gara> Alice looks at Ninny. Then back at Straal.
  101. <Snowshoe> "There's something... wrong with the water."
  102. <Gara> "Wrong how?"
  103. <Bunton> Ninny lifts his head up to breathe.
  104. <Bunton> "Sorry, say again?"
  105. <Snowshoe> She moves closer to the broken barrels.
  106. <NachtRuine> Toki tries to see what's going on amidst the small crowd.
  107. <Vivax> Perceptions from Toki and Straal
  108. <Snowshoe> d20+10 applying nocturnal once more
  109. <CROM> Snowshoe: applying nocturnal once more: 12 (d20+10=2)
  110. <Gara> Alice looks at the water, trying to see what exactly broke the barrels.
  111. <NachtRuine> d20+8 wots dis
  112. <CROM> NachtRuine: wots dis: 23 (d20+8=15)
  113. <Vivax> Alice: perception
  114. <Gara> d20+6 Yup.
  115. <CROM> Gara: Yup.: 22 (d20+6=16)
  116. <Bunton> Ninny looks at Alice, then at the barrels.
  117. <Vivax> SnowShoe: You realize that the water is /not/ moving along with the ship. It's moving irrespective of anything else.
  118. <Snowshoe> "It's not flowing properly."
  119. <Vivax> Toki: Your keen craftsmen's eye deduces that the barrels broke from the inside.
  120. <Bunton> "Hey, uh... friends?"
  121. <Vivax> Gara (Alice) You see that the water avoids your feet, and is crawling away.
  122. <Gara> "... What."
  123. <Bunton> "What's going on?"
  124. <Gara> "This isn't how water works."
  125. <Gara> "Magic bullshit."
  126. <NachtRuine> Toki raises a bushy eyebrow. "These barrels ain't broke from a hit. They broke from somethin' tryin' to get out."
  127. <Bunton> Ninny looks down at the water he just drank from.
  128. <Gara> "Oh, thats good."
  129. <Bunton> "...uh."
  130. <Snowshoe> Straal looks around for anything else out of place.
  131. <Vivax> One last perception from Straal
  132. <Snowshoe> d20+10 apply moar nocturnal
  133. <CROM> Snowshoe: apply moar nocturnal: 19 (d20+10=9)
  134. <Vivax> Straal remembers the eyes in the deep from the night of the Sahgauin attack. They appear for a moment on the surface of the water. What's worse is they make eye contact with Straal.
  135. <Vivax> Reflex save from Straal please.
  136. <Snowshoe> d20+6 refleeexes
  137. <CROM> Snowshoe: refleeexes: 20 (d20+6=14)
  138. <Bunton> "...I feel a bit... funny."
  139. <Vivax> You expertly dodge out of the way as a nearby, unbroken barrel explodes, sending shrapnel past your face.
  140. <Vivax> Water comes galloping out of the barrel.
  141. <Vivax> Ninny: Fortitude.
  142. <Bunton> 1d20
  143. <CROM> Bunton: 17 (1d20=17)
  144. <Snowshoe> She yells, then points towards the eyes
  145. <Gara> "FLANK IT!"
  146. <NachtRuine> "What in the name of Moradin is goin' on?!"
  147. <Gara> d20+10 Alice tumbles into flanking position.
  148. <CROM> Gara: Alice tumbles into flanking position.: 14 (d20+10=4)
  149. <Vivax> Ninny manages not to throw up as the water he swallowed tries to punch out of his stomach.
  150. <Snowshoe> Can Straal take a shot at one of the eyes?
  151. <Bunton> Ninny dry retches and calls for George.
  152. <Gara> Wait. Actually. Redact.
  153. <Gara> 1d20+7 Alice throws knives like a pro.
  154. <CROM> Gara: Alice throws knives like a pro.: 25 (1d20+7=18)

  156. <Vivax> Damage?
  157. <Gara> d4+4 Of dagger.
  158. <CROM> Gara: Of dagger.: 6 (d4+4=2)
  159. <Vivax> All of you have drunk water in the past. You know it's not supposed to scream and boil when a knife touches it.
  160. <Snowshoe> "That's new."
  161. <Gara> "Huh."
  162. <NachtRuine> "This water ain't right."
  163. <Snowshoe> Straal takes aim at where she thinks the eyes are.
  164. <Bunton> "AaaaaaAAAARGH".
  165. <Snowshoe> d20+4 ptchew
  166. <CROM> Snowshoe: ptchew: 10 (d20+4=6)
  167. <Vivax> Straal hits a barrel.
  168. <Bunton> Ninny chokes and grunts as he rolls about the floor.
  169. <Bunton> He manages to get a clear phrase out amongst the sobbing.
  170. <Bunton> "w... water elementals..."
  171. <Bunton> "EEUAAAARGH"
  172. <Vivax> 1d20+19
  173. <CROM> Vivax: 22 (1d20+19=3)
  174. <Vivax> Alright here's what happenes.
  175. <Vivax> Alice and Ninny are hit by a wall of water as more barrels pop.
  176. <Vivax> They are pinned to cargo crates as it rushes past them. Straal and Toki manage to hold their shit together.
  177. <Snowshoe> Straal yells over the noise. "Maybe we could just go grab Julien?"
  178. <Vivax> The water appears to be trying to punch it's way out of the porthole.
  179. <Vivax> 1d20+19
  180. <CROM> Vivax: 38 (1d20+19=19)
  181. <Vivax> Straal is pinned to Alice.
  182. <Gara> "NOW ISN'T THE TIME!"
  183. <NachtRuine> "Aye, I ain't a mage, 'n this is a job fer a mage!"
  184. <Vivax> *Wooosh*
  185. <Vivax> You hear the sound of glass breaking.

  194. <CROM> Snowshoe: nocturnal is a fun trait: 29 (d20+10=19)
  195. <Snowshoe> Straal tries to shove herself away from the barrels and back in the direction they came from.
  196. <Gara> Alice holds on Straal, trying to follow.
  197. <Vivax> Straal: Roll a combat maneuver check
  198. <Bunton> Ninny's life flashes before his eyes. Midway, he becomes bored and remembers that he's drunk a water elemental.
  199. <Bunton> He then tries to use a ray of sickening on himself.
  200. <Snowshoe> d20+4 rollan
  201. <CROM> Snowshoe: rollan: 15 (d20+4=11)
  202. <Vivax> Straal sees this but nobody else: While pushing against the water Straal sees the eyes again but they aren't alone. There is something else in the water. Another pair of eyes. The new pair of eyes wink at you and you hear "Just wait this will be hilarious,"
  203. <Vivax> 1d20+19
  204. <CROM> Vivax: 31 (1d20+19=12)
  205. <Bunton> Ninny throws up into the flood.
  206. <Vivax> Ninny throws up! Yay!
  207. <NachtRuine> Toki is completely at a loss as of what is going on.
  208. <Vivax> When the water elemental gets about half way out the porthole you hear a long, low wolf howl followed by...yapping? Like an excited dog?
  209. <Vivax> The water elemental is split in half.
  210. <Snowshoe> Combat maneuver failed?
  211. <Vivax> And the part left behind is shaped into ice sculptures of middle fingers.
  212. <Gara> ~What the hell, it's like water me.~
  213. <Bunton> Ninny cries.
  214. <Vivax> The barrels stop breaking. You are free to be confused.
  215. <Gara> "What the fuck is going on."
  216. <Bunton> "I don't /know/."
  217. <Bunton> "I... I;m going to go find George and just... hold him for a while."
  218. <Snowshoe> Straal shoves herself off the wall and shakes herself, trying to dry off. "How many mages do we have on this boat?"
  219. <Gara> "I don't know."
  220. <Gara> "Fuck magic."
  221. <NachtRuine> "Aye, I wholly agree."
  222. <Bunton> Ninny stops at the door.
  223. <Bunton> 1d20+8 religion
  224. <CROM> Bunton: religion: 17 (1d20+8=9)
  225. <Snowshoe> "I'm going to go and have a word with either the wizard or the captain. Losing half our water supply is probably bad."
  226. <Bunton> Ninny turns around.
  227. <Gara> "Yes, it is."
  228. <Vivax> Ninny looks back. The wreckage of the barrels is arraigned in the holy symbol of the Sea Mother.
  229. <Bunton> "...guys."
  230. <Gara> "What?"
  231. <Bunton> "The, uh... the debris of this whole... thing is a bit interesting."
  232. <Gara> "Why?"
  233. <Bunton> "Well, because, and I could be wrong on this, it's arranged into a tribute to the Sea Mother."
  234. <Gara> "... Meaning?"
  235. <Bunton> "I'm not sure."
  236. <Bunton> "But I think it means this isn't the last time we're going to have problems with water."
  237. <Vivax> Arcana or planes!! Or another religion!
  238. <NachtRuine> "It means we gotta get rid of it, that's what."
  239. <Vivax> Nature works too!!
  240. <Bunton> 1d20+8 arcana
  241. <CROM> Bunton: arcana: 12 (1d20+8=4)
  242. <Bunton> Ninny thinks back to his apprenticing days.
  243. <Bunton> 1d20+8 planes
  244. <CROM> Bunton: planes: 9 (1d20+8=1)

  250. <FlameShirt> d20+7 He sees the wreckage. What's that all about?
  251. <CROM> FlameShirt: He sees the wreckage. What's that all about?: 21 (d20+7=14)
  252. <Bunton> Ninny realises his education in arcana was really, really poor.
  253. <Bunton> "Oh well. Maybe we should go back to the cabin."
  254. <Bunton> "But before that..."
  255. <Bunton> Ninny goes over the wreckage and kicks a few barrel pieces around.
  256. <Bunton> "Right. Let's go."
  257. <Bunton> Ninny looks at Maon.
  258. <Bunton> "I don't think we've met."
  259. <Bunton> "And I'd just like to say, this wasn't my fault."
  260. <Bunton> Ninny points at eveyone else.
  261. <Gara> Alice looks for her knife.
  262. <NachtRuine> "Ain't anyone sayin' it was."
  263. <Snowshoe> Straal heads for the upper decks.
  264. <Vivax> Alice finds her knife.
  265. <Bunton> Ninny follows.
  266. <FlameShirt> Maon quints at the barrels. "Sea Mother...? She's a nasty one.
  267. <Gara> She takes it. She puts it back where is belongs.
  268. <Snowshoe> Er, straal grabs her arrow, /then/ heads for the upper deck
  269. <FlameShirt> "
  270. <Bunton> Ninny snaps round.
  271. <Gara> Alice follows Straal.
  272. <Bunton> "You know? You know what happened?"
  273. <FlameShirt> Maon shrugs. "Heard she's a bit of a meanie. Dunno what she's up to though."
  274. <Vivax> Ninny gets a splinter from kicking the wreckagd.
  275. <Vivax> *wreckage
  276. <Bunton> "Ow. Right. Okay. I don't know what happened, or who's to blame, but I'm going to blame the priest."
  277. <Bunton> "Anyone up for a bit of mobbing?"
  278. <Vivax> You all know that the priest is still unconsious.
  279. <Vivax> He has yet to wake.
  280. <NachtRuine> "Priest ain't castin' spells asleep. I'm thinkin' wizards."
  281. <Bunton> "How do you know he's asleep?"
  282. <Gara> "[Straal, do you think it was him?]"
  283. <FlameShirt> "I wouldn't go bothering Wulf about the priest just yet." Maon yawns. He's been up late working with the wounded.
  284. <Gara> That was in Oroo, by the way.
  285. <Bunton> Ninny remembers that the priest is comatose.
  286. <Bunton> He also remembers that he understands Oroo.
  287. <Snowshoe> "[I'm having a bit of a voice in my head at the moment, one second please.]"
  288. <Bunton> "[Think it was who?]"
  289. <Gara> Alice and Straal are going to the top deck.
  290. <Gara> Did Ninny follow?
  291. <Bunton> Sure.
  292. <NachtRuine> Toki follows as well.
  293. <Bunton> Er... no, then.
  294. <Bunton> Okay, at this point, Ninny goes up to the top deck.
  295. <Gara> "[What do you mean by that?]"
  296. <Bunton> Ninny looks around.
  297. <Bunton> He is at this point on his own in a corridor leading to wherever he was to start with.
  298. <Bunton> "It's mothcake. And have we met before?"
  299. <Vivax> Ninny is on the right path to get back to the upper deck should he choose to go there.
  300. <Snowshoe> "[Whatever froze that water back there is talking to me.]"
  301. <Gara> "[... That isn't good.]"
  302. <Snowshoe> "[It seems friendly enough.]"
  303. <Bunton> Ninny listens for a moment, and keeps walking to the upper deck.
  304. <FlameShirt> Maon heads out to the top deck to stare at the sea, suspiciously.
  305. <Gara> "[Oh, thats good, then. Why don't we invite him over for a drink?]"
  306. <Bunton> Ninny catches up with Alice and Straal.
  307. <Snowshoe> "[I don't think he's on the boat.]"
  308. <Gara> "Hello, Ninny."
  309. <Bunton> "Really? You should, they're the delicious."
  310. <Bunton> "The moon? No, can't say I have."
  311. <Bunton> "What does it taste like?"
  312. <Gara> "... What?"
  313. <Snowshoe> "It's telepathic, Ninny."
  314. <Gara> "Ah, him too."
  315. <Bunton> "Does spousal betrayal taste anything like bread?"
  316. <Snowshoe> "Unless he's found another demon from wherever his worm came from."
  317. <Bunton> "Because if not, I wouldn't know."
  318. <FlameShirt> Gilleas is gibbering about in the rigging.
  319. <Bunton> "Bread is... a fantastic delicacy, which I can, with some difficulty, get my hands on."
  320. <Gara> Alice sighs.
  321. <Bunton> "It's something you really must try. The most delicious thing in any plane, really. Why, it's so fantastic, the cost of obtaining it really doesn't cover it."
  322. <Bunton> "I'm practically /giving/ it away."
  323. <Bunton> "Only 50 gold for a piece. Trust me, you won't regret it."
  324. <Snowshoe> Straal moves away from Ninny and continues towards wherever the captain usually is found.
  325. <Bunton> "Hang on..."
  326. <Vivax> You get up on deck. Ninny draws the curious glances of sailors.
  327. <Bunton> Ninny turns to Straal.
  328. <Gara> Alice follows Straal.
  329. <Bunton> "[You said, "me too"]".
  330. <Bunton> "[Are you hearing a voice as well?"]"
  331. <Snowshoe> She continues walking. "[Whatever froze the water back there, yes.]"
  332. <Bunton> "[It told you that?]"?

  338. <Bunton> "Um."
  339. <Bunton> "So you're the person that froze the water back there?"
  340. <Gara> ~You wouldn't survive as a thief.~
  341. <Snowshoe> "Could you possibly think words without speaking them, Ninny?"
  342. <Bunton> "Might I ask, who and where exactly are you?"
  343. <Bunton> Ninny looks at Straal.

  346. <Gara> "..."
  347. <Gara> "Ninny..."
  348. <Snowshoe> Straal stares at him, then looks around for the captain.
  349. <Gara> Alice just... She sighs.
  350. <Bunton> "You know, I don't think we've met. After I stop talking to the voice in my head, we'll have to have a chat."
  351. <Gara> "[Isn't too bright, is he?]" Oroo!
  352. <Bunton> "[You know I can understand you, right?]"
  353. <Gara> "[I do now, but I don't care either way.]"
  354. <NachtRuine> "There's a damn voice in my head." He says this with a slight amount of urgency.
  355. <Bunton> "[...]"
  356. <Snowshoe> "I think we're all hearing it, Toki."
  357. <Gara> "I'm not."
  358. <Bunton> Ninyn blushes.
  359. <Bunton> *Ninny
  360. <Gara> "Maybe it doesn't llie me because I threw a knife at it."
  361. <FlameShirt> Maon suspects the sea of being up to something. He hasn't figured out what.
  362. <Snowshoe> "No, it doesn't like the sea goddess. I'd think it would be all over you for stabbing something she did."
  363. <Gara> "Huh."
  364. <NachtRuine> "Looks more like a fox."
  365. <Gara> "Unless it's lying."
  366. <Vivax> Ninny you have heard that Alice likes to rub her bear chest in Straal's feathers.
  367. <Snowshoe> Straal shrugs. "It seems like more of a... trickster, a trickster god than anything else. I don't think it would have a reason to lie."
  368. <Bunton> "It's gone silent."
  369. <Bunton> "...George?"
  370. <Bunton> "/George/".
  371. <Vivax> George is weirdly silent
  372. <NachtRuine> "It's from the new world, 'pparently."
  373. <Snowshoe> "I got that impression, though it didn't say so directly."
  374. <Snowshoe> Straal is still looking for either the captain or Julien.
  375. <Gara> Alice is helping.
  376. <Snowshoe> With the entire party following her around as she does so.
  377. <Vivax> Those of you who've been talking to the laughing dog get the same message, "Now you can talk about me to each other...but well...lets keep me a surprise. Surprises are the most fun. We'll be squarsies then"
  378. <Bunton> Ninny wanders off to George, and begins shaking him violently.
  379. <Bunton> "WAKE UP YOU LAZY BASTARD."
  380. <FlameShirt> Maon looks over, sees the group acting nutty, shrugs, and goes back to sea watching.
  381. <Bunton> Ninny looks round. "Okay, who else of you heard a dog talk to you in your head?"
  382. <NachtRuine> Toki raises his hand.
  383. <Snowshoe> "Me."
  384. <Bunton> "...huh. I don't suppose he told any of /you/ his name."
  385. <Snowshoe> "I asked, but he said names were... I believe he said "tricky business"."
  386. <FlameShirt> Maon overhears. "Yeah, he sounds like a freak.", he shouts to the group and walks over.
  387. <NachtRuine> "Aye, same."
  388. <Bunton> "He does seem a bit... damaged."
  389. <FlameShirt> "We're not to make Grandfather angry, apparently."
  390. <Bunton> "God, I hope he's not still listening."
  391. <Bunton> "Grandfather?"
  392. <FlameShirt> Maon swipes at his ear. "Fuck off, you twat." He makes an annoyed face at the air.
  393. <FlameShirt> Maon shrugs at Ninny.
  394. <Bunton> "hm. Odd."
  395. <Bunton> "Excuse me a moment. I think I need to reset George."
  396. <Bunton> Ninny dimisses George, and sets about resummoning him.
  397. <Vivax> -----Loading----Loading----George sequence commencing----
  398. <FlameShirt> "Yeah, that's what I thought." Maon looks slightly triumphant.
  399. <Vivax> Right: I'm going to handwave you telling the Captain that the water was stolen by a sea goddess unless you want to have that conversation.
  400. <FlameShirt> Maon sniffs the air. "Smelly fuck."
  401. <Vivax> Gilleas looks hurt emotionally by your words.
  402. <Bunton> Ninny finishes.
  403. <Bunton> "George? You okay, friend?"
  404. <Vivax> (I choose you! George) George appears in a flash of silken tapestries.
  405. <FlameShirt> "No! Not you, man. You smell distinguished." Maon rubs Gilleas's head.
  406. <Vivax> G: "I think so?"
  407. <Gara> After they tell the Captain, Alice begins to head back down below deck.
  408. <Bunton> "What happened to you back there?"
  409. <Gara> She stops to look for fishhooks.
  410. <Vivax> G: "Um...music"

  419. <Vivax> G: "And more stuff like that!"
  420. <Gara> Alice takes her newly found fishhooks to where she slept last night. It occurs to her she's going to need to undress to put fishhooks in without hurting herself.
  421. <Vivax> FlameShirt: Gilleas grooms you contentedly.
  422. <Bunton> "Are you... feeling okay?"
  423. <Vivax> G: "I feel /alive/!"
  424. <Bunton> "God, I haven't seen you like this since before Expy started bullying you."
  425. <Bunton> *N:
  426. <FlameShirt> Maon reciprocates the the grooming.
  427. <Snowshoe> Straal heads back belowdecks to her comfortable hole behind some crates.

  452. <Vivax> :|
  453. <Vivax> We just went over that earlier.
  454. <Gara> Oh. Well.
  455. <FlameShirt> Maon is now on the shore, because he did that.
  456. <NachtRuine> Toki has examined the land and determined water will be more inland and this shore has bad dirt.
  457. <Vivax> http://www.thetrustees.org/assets/images/prop/cape-cod--the-islands/Photo%20Gallery/I_Wasque_road_TKates.jpg
  458. <Vivax> The sun is bright.

  460. <Gara> Then alice is on shore, totally you guys.
  461. <Vivax> The sun is bright and moral is bittersweet.
  462. <NachtRuine> Toki stares inland, to see if anything lies in wait.
  463. <Vivax> The crew eagerly organizes into parties to explore the surrounding wilderness and make camp.
  464. <Pixeltasim> The figure sits down next to the nearest person, completely silently
  465. <Bunton> Ninny is sitting on an extremely placated George.
  466. <Vivax> "Fak that bitch Sea Mother!" you hear a random sailor yell.
  467. <Vivax> You (all of you) are called over to Captain Wyatt.
  468. <Bunton> Ninny rides over.
  469. <Pixeltasim> The figure silently and speedily makes his way over
  470. <NachtRuine> Toki marches over to Wyatt.
  471. <FlameShirt> Maon is yelling at random sailors, helping with the marshalling. "No, you don't put that crate there, fuckknuckle. Over /there/."
  472. <Snowshoe> Straal heads over to Wyatt.
  473. <FlameShirt> Maon notices the Captain and walks over.
  474. <Vivax> "Shat up you git! You dunnae have any authority over me!" The sailors respond in eerie unison at Maon.
  475. <Vivax> Captain Wyatt "As you and everybody else are aware we are running short on water."
  476. <FlameShirt> Maon makes some magical sparks flit about the sailors, dangerously close to their heads.
  477. <Bunton> Ninny looks at Captain Wyatt.

  489. <Pixeltasim> A raspy voice comes from the hooded/cloaked figure "What kind of wildlife have you seen?"
  490. <Ninny|Bunton> "She's /the/ /sea/".
  491. <Vivax> "Irrelevant Ninny. She is not the Sun."
  492. <FlameShirt> "We could set up a still, boil sea water for now?"
  493. <Ninny|Bunton> "Hell, more than one of us are wizards."
  494. <Ninny|Bunton> "Doing that shouldn't be too difficult."
  495. <Vivax> "We have heard strange animal calls, odd bird-song coming from the trees. One of the men claims to have seen a mermaid...I blame his libido"
  496. <Vivax> "More likely there are seals, good eating."
  497. <Ninny|Bunton> "Alright. When would you have us start?"
  498. <Vivax> "We /could/ set up a still. But I don't think we are going to boil enough water to quench 500 people."
  499. <Vivax> "You should get going as soon as possible."
  500. <NachtRuine> "Aye, go while the day is young."
  501. <FlameShirt> "No reason why we couldn't..." Maon shrugs.
  502. <Ninny|Bunton> "I suppose so. But tell me... there aren't any known dangers inland, are there?"
  503. <Vivax> Bunton: Wyatt tosses you a leather bound book. "It's empty. Record your progress in it."
  504. <Vivax> "We don't know. Julien's expertise is limited to the far inland. It is not known what may be out there so be careful"
  505. <Pixeltasim> Out of the cloak suddenly a scaly tail appears, with a nasty looking metal attachment
  506. <Ninny|Bunton> Ninny catches the book, looks at it, and puts it away.
  507. <Pixeltasim> The figure goes and picks up a bundle and straps it to their back
  508. <Vivax> "Right...so keep stuff like that" Wyatt points to Draz's tail, "Handy"
  509. <Ninny|Bunton> Ninny looks round at the figure interestedly.
  510. <NachtRuine> Toki takes two bundles. "If ain't anyone else lookin' to carry, I can take the third."
  511. <FlameShirt> [Oh, hey dude!], Maon says to the figure in Scale-Tongue.
  512. <Pixeltasim> [Good to know I'm not the only thing on this god-forsaken ship that can speak the tongue.]

  521. <FlameShirt> [Do whatever you need to, dude. S'all cool here.]

  637. <Vivax> Bunton: No magic. Just an arrowhead.
  638. <Bunton> Right-o.
  639. <Bunton> "Right-o. Shall we go on then?"
  640. <Vivax> Pixeltasim: You get this nagging sense that you are being watched but you don't know where it's coming from.
  641. <Pixeltasim> "Hold up a moment, I believe we are not alone."
  642. <Bunton> "Eh?
  643. <Bunton> *"
  644. <Bunton> "Dear. George, have a sniff round."
  645. <FlameShirt> Maon runs in front of the group and holds out his arms.
  646. <Bunton> "See if you can smell anything off."
  647. <FlameShirt> "Eyes, over there." Maon nods towards a treeline.
  648. <Pixeltasim> "I'll go check it out quietly, everyone stay put."
  649. <Vivax> George: "I smell animals! New animals! An' I smell...weird pollen...and sailors..."
  650. <Bunton> "New animals?"
  651. <NachtRuine> Toki nods. He keeps put, readying his greataxe, just in case.
  652. <Vivax> G: "I dunno what they are!"

  657. <Bunton> "Heh... heehee... whooo".
  658. <Vivax> If you want to you may attempt to approach where you were being watched from...
  659. <Bunton> "Heheh, whee, whaa... wh... oh. Sorry."
  660. <Vivax> But you all know you have been seen.
  661. <Bunton> "Fish."
  662. <Bunton> "Huh."
  663. <Snowshoe> Straal moves towards the treeline.
  664. <Pixeltasim> Draahzin stays put instead
  665. <NachtRuine> Toki whispers, "Wha's so funny, Ninny?"
  666. <Bunton> "Sorry, just... George's sense of smell does that."
  667. <Bunton> "I had a look in his head to see what he was sensing."
  668. <FlameShirt> "Gilleas, go check it out." Maon points towards the treeline. Gilleas runs towards the forest.
  669. <Bunton> "Fish. There was a distinctive smell of fish."
  670. <FlameShirt> "Sea Mother sent her lizards again?"
  671. <Pixeltasim> "Everyone else hunker down. Be careful and quiet." said quietly, almost a whisper
  672. <Bunton> "I'm not-"
  673. <Bunton> Ninny quitens down.
  674. <FlameShirt> Gilleas stops running towards the trees and lies down, giggling.
  675. <FlameShirt> "Hey dude! Come back here!", yells Maon. Gilleas reluctantly starts heading back.
  676. <Pixeltasim> "I volunteer to try to find out what is, I can get out quickly if things get nasty."
  677. <Vivax> All of you see a flock of crows take to the sky.
  678. <Bunton> "No, no, no. You might still get yourself hurt."
  679. <NachtRuine> "We've already someone headed. She c'n fly."
  680. <FlameShirt> Gilleas rolls around in the grass. He's flipping up rocks and all that, just for the hell of it.
  681. <Bunton> "None of you are expendable."
  682. <Bunton> "George, go have a look."
  683. <Pixeltasim> "Fair enough. But the birds are leaving, that isn't a good sign."
  684. <NachtRuine> "Birds see what we can't." Toki tightens his grip on his greataxe.
  685. <Bunton> "It doesn't mean there's some sort of boogle. Maybe they're just..."
  686. <Bunton> "...uh."
  687. <Bunton> "Maybe some fruit dropped off the trees."
  688. <Bunton> "Really, really loudly."
  689. <FlameShirt> "Going for an evening flit...?"
  690. <Pixeltasim> "The fish leave when there is a shark in the area."
  691. <Bunton> "They also leave when it's mating season."
  692. <Vivax> (Guys it's afternoon)
  693. <FlameShirt> Maon gently wipes at Gilleas. "You idiot", he says laughing.
  694. <Pixeltasim> "We should move as a group, it is likely it won't attack us if we stick together."
  695. <Bunton> "Good idea."
  696. <Snowshoe> Straal emerges from the treeline and heads back towards the group.
  697. <Pixeltasim> "Staying here isn't going to help anything."
  698. <NachtRuine> Toki watches Straal emerging. "What'd ya see?"
  699. <FlameShirt> "I think you're all getting worried over nothing." Maon and Gilleas and mucking about in the grass.
  700. <NachtRuine> "Worried over nothin's better'n dead over somethin'."
  701. <Vivax> George reemerges from a nearby swampy pool with a frog dangling from his mouth, "I found a friend!!!!!"
  702. <Snowshoe> "Not much. Some birds flew off when I entered, found a weird flower I might take a look at later."
  703. <Bunton> "Oh, that's nice."
  704. <NachtRuine> "Nothin' tryin' t' kill us, then?"
  705. <Bunton> "And what's his name?"
  706. <Pixeltasim> "Then we should get moving then."
  707. <Vivax> G:
  708. <Vivax> G" "Shalua Jarquizibrar!"
  709. <FlameShirt> "Tooooold you."
  710. <Bunton> "That's a nice name, George. But we need to get going."
  711. <Bunton> "Give him here, and I'll look after him."
  712. <Vivax> G: "Okay!" he spits the frog into a nearby pool.
  713. <Vivax> "Oops!"
  714. <Vivax> Anyway do you all begin walking toward the hills?
  715. <Bunton> Sure.
  716. <Pixeltasim> Yeah
  717. <NachtRuine> Yes.
  718. <Snowshoe> of course
  719. <FlameShirt> aye aye
  720. <Vivax> Alright! So you hike upwards, away from the estuary.
  721. <Vivax> The trees here are larger and the soil is loamy and nice.
  722. <Vivax> You hear tree frogs croaking in the canopy.

  754. 01:49 Snowshoe Straal calls from somewhere near the hill. "Something over here."
  755. 01:49 Bunton "I though druids were supposed to be able to commune with the animals, or something."
  756. 01:49 NachtRuine Toki hobbles towards Straal. "What's it?"

  777. 01:54 Snowshoe "There's an old Strix burial ritual that is carried out when a hero dies. A tree is planted over his corpse. This seems... similar."

  820. <Vivax> Alright all of you, now that Straal and Ninny have shown you the truth of the trees keep seeing bones. Bones in the roots, bones sticking out of branches, skulls where knotholes should be, most of them covered by bark or just vague impressions in the shapes of the branches.
  821. <Vivax> You keep hiking upward.
  822. <FlameShirt> "We're walking on a graveyard. I can tell."
  823. <Bunton> "You know, when I was about two, one of my grand-uncles died."
  824. <Bunton> "We were on a camping trip into a different part of the family sewer. One day, he fell in the water and drowned."
  825. <Bunton> "I think it was about three hours before anyone came to help. I didn't know where we were, so I was afraid to leave. Three hours, I sat there, while his dead body floated in the water."
  826. <Bunton> "Might have been more."
  827. <Bunton> "I don't think I like this forest very much."
  828. <Vivax> You all hear the chirping of tree frogs.

  840. <Vivax> The trees do not answer.
  841. <Vivax> The wind whistles ominously.
  842. <FlameShirt> "Fine, be like that."
  843. <Vivax> Your footfalls are quieted by a thick carpet of moss.
  844. <Snowshoe> Straal looks at the tombs. Are they changing, or are they all similar?
  845. <NachtRuine> Toki looks at the moss. He is not fond of moss very much.
  846. <Bunton> Ninny seems lost in thought.
  847. <Vivax> They are similar, all large trees with vague outlines of bodies within. Sometimes there are symbols carved in the trees.
  848. <Snowshoe> Does she recognize those symbols?
  849. <Pixeltasim> Draahzin seems to be muttering something unrecognizable
  850. <Vivax> The are primitive pictographs.

  859. <Bunton> "There was a name for this place. Why can't I remember the name?"
  860. <NachtRuine> "Hol' up." Toki kneels to look at something on the ground, which is fairly difficult for him. "Prints. Wolf. Ice, somehow."

  872. <FlameShirt> [Eh, they always are.] Maon looks around the forest for wolfs and bad guys.
  873. <Vivax> You also see deer tracks. Lots of them
  874. <Bunton> "I think we should probably get out out of here!"
  875. <Vivax> The wolf may be following the deer...or may have been heading in that general direction. Hard to say.
  876. <NachtRuine> "Quit yer panic, Ninny. Animals know where t' find water."
  877. <Bunton> "Yeah, yeah..."
  878. <Bunton> "Wait..."
  879. <Bunton> "George, can't you smell water when it's near?"
  880. <FlameShirt> "That they do. Herd animals centre around the watering holes. So the predators will too."

  907. <FlameShirt> "There's the game the Captain asked for."
  908. <Bunton> "[If you would.]"

  910. <NachtRuine> "This hill shouldn't be flat at the top. Somethin' is off."
  911. <Bunton> Ninny looks about for the water source.
  912. <Pixeltasim> "Possibly we should surround them, make sure the don't escape?"
