[01:29] <Saia> It's a cool autumn night, the warmth of the day has long since left the town you called home. The events of the previous day play back in your mind, the test you passed, your new Pokemon, and the excitement of the journey ahead. All of that have culminated in one thing....
[01:29] <Saia> You can't sleep.
[01:33] <Saia> You've been lying awake staring at the ceiling for a while now, the clock reads 12:14 AM. With a sigh you raise yourself from the bed and prepare to leave telling yourself it should be alright if you're early.
[01:37] <Saia> After you get dressed you leave the house, your family will be at the ceremony to see you off after all. The night air fills your lungs with each breath as you jog down the road towards the lab. The streets are dark and almost empty, the only other person you can see is jogging on the sidewalk across the road, though you don't know them the two of you seem to be heading in the same
[01:37] <Saia> direction.
[01:38] * Selena_Rose points out the other person to Mawile
[01:38] * ~Steven is to much in his own head to notice anyone, Cinder is currently on his head, while Eva runs beside him
[01:39] * Selena_Rose Mawile points, too and makes a crackling cry in the stranger's direction
[01:39] * ~Steven doesn't notice the cry, to many thoughts in his head
[01:42] <~Steven> Dew the budew is currently riding on Eva's head
[01:42] <Saia> (Pause while I get YY his info)

[01:48] <Saia> After some time you find yourself nearing the lab, the moon has begun to shine through the gaps in the clouds forming a natural spotlight on the property. It really is an odd sight, while being near the middle of the town it still has a large pasture and a lake to house all the Pokemon. In the front yard you can see a stage set up in front of some tables and chairs, unlit torches line

[01:48] * Editanon is now known as Luna
[01:50] <Saia> A light is shining in one of the first floor windows, the smell of something baking wafts through the air.
[01:50] * ~Steven snaps out of his reverie at the smell of baking, his stomach gives a soft rumble
[01:52] * Selena_Rose and Mawile are both drawn towards the smell of food
[01:52] * ~Steven is as well
[01:55] <Saia> As you approach the lab a trio of large burly men come into view. They're all wearing dark baggy clothes and hats, you see the edges of a red letter on the front of one of the shirts. They seem to be messing with the windows, but you can't tell exactly what they're doing.
[01:56] * ~Steven slowly moves closer
[01:56] * ~Steven is suspicous, but he wants to make sure they're doing what he thinks they are first
[01:57] * Selena_Rose Mawile makes quizzical, crackling, crying sound towards the men before Selena can stop her.
[01:57] * ~Steven cringes and looks sharply towards the sound
[01:58] <Saia> The men don't seem to notice either of you, laughing as they continue whatever they were doing.
[01:58] <Saia> Steven: Roll 1d20+Wis mod
[01:59] <~Steven> )roll 1d20+2
[01:59] * Demonbot --> "Steven rolls 1d20+2 and gets 16."
[02:00] <Saia> You notice a rag in each of their hands and a spray bottle in the other. They seem to be cleaning the windows while talking with each other.
[02:01] * ~Steven calms down and walks forward, no longer suspicous
[02:01] * Selena_Rose glances over to see the stranger walking casually and follows after, holding Mawile's hand reassuringly
[02:02] <Saia> Eventually the front door opens and the professor pops his head out, "Thanks for the hard work guys, you can grab some food in the kitchen then get some rest." As they file back into the lab one of them turns towards the two of you and points you out to the professor, a large red R is emblazed on the shirt's chest.
[02:03] <Saia> The Professor beckons the two of you over.
[02:03] * Selena_Rose and Mawile rush up to the professor
[02:04] * ~Steven heads over, eva following with Bud on it's head, while CInder rides on Stevens head
[02:05] <Saia> "Wow, you two are up early, you've still got another few hours till the ceremony was supposed to start."
[02:05] * Selena_Rose shrugs. "I couldn't really sleep."
[02:06] <~Steven> "Sorry Saya, couldn't sleep, hope I'm not bothering you"
[02:06] * Selena_Rose Mawile mimics Selena's shrug
[02:06] * ~Steven glances at Selena_Rose, while eva gives her a suspicous glance "Is she...?"
[02:06] <Saia> "Don't worry, I was the same way the night before I ran aw-.....before I started my journey."
[02:07] * Selena_Rose smiles politely at Steven. "Hi there. I'm Selena."
[02:07] * ~Steven nods hessitantly "...Steven"

[02:08] <Saia> "Anyway if you guys want some breakfast you can grab some from the kitchen, there are some extra beds on the second floor you could use if you wanna try sleeping again."
[02:08] * Selena_Rose nods in return. Mawile walks up to Steven's leg and tugs on his pant leg. "And this is my ickle widdle Nibbles the Mawile."
[02:09] * Alizarin runs towards the crowd, panting, with Lucca by her side, struggling to keep up.
[02:10] * ~Steven can't help but smile a little and pts the Nibbles. "Nice to meet you too Nibbles.This is CInder" he points to his head "This is eva," he points to eva, still glaring suspcously "And this is Dew" he says pointing at the buddew on eva's head, which is fast asleep
[02:10] <Saia> "Oh hey here's another one."
[02:10] * Luna is off on a midnight run with Torch when a sweet scent catches her and Torches nose'. Stopping in front of where its comming from they find themselves at the professors lab and walk up to the door
[02:10] * Alizarin says between breaths, "Sorry, heh, couldn't sleep."
[02:10] * ~Steven frowns, a little worried "How... many are there?"
[02:10] <Luna> "...Hellooo."
[02:11] <Saia> "Well, counting up everyone that's starting today? Ten."
[02:12] * ~Steven blanches
[02:12] <~Steven> "that's... a lot"
[02:12] <Saia> "But as for your team? There's only five."
[02:12] <Luna> "Ten what? I smell food!"
[02:12] * ~Steven gives a slightly releived sigh
[02:13] <Saia> "Hello Luna, your cookies are still in the oven."
[02:13] * Selena_Rose smiles at the newcomers, and brightens especially when she sees Luna
[02:13] * ~Steven s tummy rumbles at the mention of cookies
[02:13] * Luna grabs Torch by the paws and starts jumping around in circles "Yay cookies!!"
[02:14] * ~Steven boggles at the little girl
[02:14] <~Steven> "She's... starting hr journey too?"
[02:14] <Saia> "For the rest of you, you can have some crossants and boiled eggs."
[02:14] <Saia> "She is, though she's a bit closer to the normal starting age than you all."
[02:14] * Selena_Rose stares at the little girl hopping up and down, barely able to keep from smothering her with hugs
[02:15] <~Steven> "She's so... small"
[02:15] * Luna notices the stares an comes to a stop
[02:15] * Selena_Rose whispers, "I know! She's sooo cute."
[02:15] <Luna> "Uhh.. Hi! My names Luna and this here is Torch."
[02:15] * Luna and torch both do a quick bow
[02:15] * Selena_Rose steps in front of Steven. "Hi! I'm Selena, and this here is Nibbles"
[02:16] * ~Steven takes that opportunity to skedaddle inside the house, foo his excuse, though he just wants to get away
[02:17] <Luna> "Woww a Mawile, Ive never seen one in person before.. Shes cute!"
[02:18] <Saia> Steven: You pass by some of the people in Rocket uniform half asleep. They give you a small wave before retreating to their rooms on the first floor.
[02:18] * ~Steven tries to remember if Saya ever explained these people to him
[02:19] * Selena_Rose Mawile makes a her crackling sound in greeting to Luna
[02:19] <Saia> He's never really explained it in full, each time you asked he told you not to worry and would never say much more after reminding you that Team Rocket has been gone for well over a decade.
[02:20] * ~Steven still wishes he would have given him SOME sort of explanation
[02:23] * ~Steven servs himself a boiled egg and a croissant
[02:24] * Selena_Rose stretches and yawns. "Well, I guess my tiredness really caught up to me. Professor, if you don't mind, I'm gonna snag one of those beds upstairs."
[02:24] <Saia> "Go ahead, just uh try not to make too much noise. Yuuki's still sleeping."
[02:25] * Selena_Rose says good night to the newcomers, and gives Luna a big smile before heading upstair. /me glances through the rooms until she finds Yuuki, smiles at the sleeping figure(s?) and finds a bed of her own.
[02:25] <Luna> "Nighty night Sele! Ill try and save you a cookie, if Torch doesnt eat them all."
[02:26] * Selena_Rose says with a smile, "Thanks, Luna"
[02:26] <Saia> "Hmmmm, there should be one more person left."
[02:26] * Patrick comes up to the front door with a Swablu huddled on top of his head and knocks
[02:27] <Saia> "Ah, that's probably him."
[02:27] <Saia> Saya makes his way around you all to get to the door before opening it.

[02:28] * Alizarin blushes slightly before shaking her head.
[02:28] <Alizarin> "Oh, it's you. I was wondering when you'd be showing up."
[02:28] <Saia> "No, you're still a few hours early."
[02:28] <Luna> "Another new person!" Torch barks in kind.
[02:28] <Patrick> "Ah, good. Just making sure is a-"
[02:28] * Patrick jumps back a bit, disturbing the Swablu
[02:29] * ~Steven is hiding in the kitchen a bit while eating
[02:29] * Patrick looks to Aliza "Sorry, were you talking to me?"
[02:30] * Patrick adjusts his "hat" back into its original position
[02:30] <Alizarin> "Nothing."
[02:31] * Luna gasps "Thats not a hat! Its a Swablu! It looks so fluffyyy!!"
[02:32] <Patrick> "Nimbus, retreat!"
[02:32] * Patrick extracts Nimbus from his hair and practically tosses it behind him
[02:32] <Luna> "Aww.. I wasnt going to hurt it.."
[02:32] <Saia> Saya glances between the two before smiling a bit. "Anyway, the people you met tonight will be the people that you will be travelling with for the next year or so. I've been waiting for budding new trainers like yourselves to travel the region as my employees."
[02:34] * Patrick tries to remember if he saw a trainer with a budew anywhere and turns his head to look around
[02:34] <Saia> "Though I say employees, the world isn't like it was before. Most of the Pokemon have been catalogued by the time I left on my journey, and since then I've even completed the dex on my own....But I still believe there is merit in journeying."
[02:35] * Alizarin tilts her head, Lucca mirrors her actions perfectly.
[02:36] <~Steven> Patrick: you spot Steven hiding away in the kitchen eating slowly, Eva and CInder doing the same, budew is sleeping on eva's head
[02:36] <Saia> "All I'm asking of you is to travel this and the neighboring region, you will be paid after every milestone you hit in the Pokedex and all my crafting and forging skills will be available to you, though you'll need to pay for the materials."
[02:36] * Patrick having confirmed what he saw, returns his full attention to Saya
[02:38] <Saia> "As for what you'll be doing on the trip. That is up to you, whether it be taking on the league challenge, trying to complete the dex like only a few before you have, or even just to make new friends."
[02:39] * Luna is slowly edging towards the Swablu to try and pet it "So we just have to do something that lets us see lots of pokemon?"
[02:40] * Alizarin tilts her head the other way, Lucca does the same. "Wait, so you're paying us to go on a journey?"
[02:41] <Saia> The professor turns to Alizarin, "Essentially yes."
[02:41] <Saia> "You don't even need to see a lot of Pokemon, that's just what gets you paid."
[02:43] <Saia> "In the past decade or so I've made a small fortune, and I never really found a way to use much of it, so I choose to do this. To send trainers off to live their dreams just as I have in the past."
[02:45] <Saia> "So, what do you guys think. Good plan huh?"
[02:46] <Patrick> "Getting paid sounds nice."
[02:46] * ~Steven grunts from the kitchen
[02:46] * Patrick looks toward the kitchen where the guy with the Budew was
[02:47] <Saia> "Oh! There is one thing though."
[02:48] <Luna> "Going on an adventure and getting money to buy Torch treats? Already said yes!"
[02:49] <Saia> The professor digs through his pocket for a bit before producing a small black sphere. Though the top and bottom halves are seperate pieces there doesn't seem to be any way of opening it. "You will need to carry this with you. I can't tell you what it is, but you all need to promise to keep it around at all times."
[02:49] <Patrick> "Of course."
[02:49] * ~Steven frowns and finally speaks up "Why?"
[02:50] <Luna> "Is it food?"
[02:50] * Patrick wonders if it would kill these people to just take someone at their word
[02:51] <Saia> "It's a GPS device. If something happens I can find the exact place and time you're at to come find you."
[02:52] <Saia> "As for why it's so big, it has a lot of components so that it can transmit a signal even deep underground."
[02:52] <~Steven> "...you just told us you couldn't tell us what it was."
[02:53] <Saia> "And then you asked why. I'm a researcher at heart. What kind of scientist would I be if I withheld information?"
[02:53] <Luna> "Maybe the professor is hungry? I forget stuff when im hungry too."
[02:53] <Alizarin> "Yeah, I don't think I'll be needing one of those, professor."
[02:53] <~Steven> "...right, it's you I'm talking to" Steven smiles and chuckles
[02:54] <Patrick> "What reason is there to not take one? It's an added safety measure."
[02:54] <Saia> "Aliza, there's only one for the group, that way I'll know you stick together. And if you want to get paid....."
[02:55] * Luna walks up to Saya and holds out her hand "Can i keep it professor?"
[02:56] * Alizarin grumbles. "...fine, but can we get someone besides the little girl to hold onto it?"
[02:56] <Saia> The professor's face brightens up at this, "Sure Luna, of course you can hold onto it. As long as you remember to call me 'Saya' and not Professor."
[02:57] * Luna flashes a bright smile "Sure thing pro.. Saya!"
[02:58] <~Steven> m/e hesitates before pointing out to Alizarin  "Uh... you're not much older i think kid"
[02:58] <Saia> Luna: As he hands you the ball you realize it feels light in your hands. It's about the weight of a Pokeball, but the size is different.
[02:58] <~Steven> he doesnt say this in a mean way, just kinda... confusedly and hesistantly
[02:59] * Luna grabs the ball and lightly tosses it in her hands a few times "Yay! And i promise to not use it as a toy for Torch."
[03:00] * Patrick raises an eyebrow at the suspiciously specific denial
[03:00] <Saia> "Thank you for that." The professor seems to have taken your word for it.
[03:01] <Saia> "Now, we've still got a few hours to kill before the ceremony. Would you all like to try something fun in the meantime?"
[03:03] * Patrick takes a step outside and gives a sharp whistle, at which Nimbus darts to his head, then steps back inside
[03:03] <Alizarin> "What -kind- of fun?"
[03:04] <Saia> "Another small taste at the road ahead."
[03:04] * Luna squees "The fluffy pokemon is back!"
[03:04] * ~Steven sighs at being ignored
[03:04] <Patrick> "I love free samples."
[03:06] <Saia> "Well then, meet me in the back yard pasture. I'll be there in a sec so just take this, press and hold the button until you hear the beep then throw it." The professor forces a small ball with a large red button into your hand.
[03:06] * ~Steven gets up, and heads to the back pasture
[03:07] * Luna grabs the new ball "Push the button and hold the ball, got it!"
[03:07] <Saia> "Oh and make sure to keep that Po-..er GPS ball safe. All of you follow Steven. He knows where he's going."
[03:08] <Saia> Steven: It may be because you've known him for a while now, but you can't help but feel like there's something odd about the ball he insists is a GPS.
[03:08] * ~Steven decides to ask him about it later, he doesnt doubt he'll get the truth
[03:09] * Luna pockets the GPS ball and gets nice and close to Steven ready to follow him, excitement beaming from her eyes
[03:10] * ~Steven feels a bit uncomfortable, being followed so closely
[03:10] * Patrick follows the group
[03:11] * Alizarin follows as well, sticking her tongue out at Steven when he's not looking.
[03:11] <Saia> The five of you file out into the back pasture, within a few moments the surrounding area is lit up by some floodlights on the second floor.
[03:11] <Saia> (*four)
[03:12] * Patrick tenses up a bit
[03:13] * ~Steven blinks and covers his eyes until they adjust
[03:13] * Luna stares off into the pasture "Woahh.."
[03:13] <Saia> Saya flashes a thumbs up from a second story window.
[03:15] * Patrick isn't sure what's going on, but moves a hand to his other pokeball in anticipation
[03:15] <Luna> "Oh! Umm.. right.. push the button and hold the ball.."
[03:16] <Saia> The pasture is made up of many areas, a stream runs through the rolling plains with a small wooded section in the distance. Closeby you can see a small cave opening leading underground, past that seems to be a dessert section as well. The pastures are large and seem to run from the middle of the city to the coast. A high fence surrounds the entire compund to deter theives and Pokemon
[03:16] <Saia> from escaping.
[03:16] * ~Steven glances at the little girl "No, you throw it when it beeps
[03:16] <Alizarin> "I thought you pressed it until it beeps."
[03:16] <Patrick> "I take it we'll be playing a lot of miniature golf on our journey."
[03:17] * Luna pushes the button and waits "I do what?"
[03:17] <~Steven> "When it beeps, toss it"
[03:17] <Saia> You press the button and hold it down for a few seconds, but you notice something odd.
[03:17] <Saia> There is no beep.
[03:18] * Alizarin turns towards the balcony and yells out. "It's not beeping!"
[03:18] <Saia> Pink gas erupts from the ball enveloping the group. A sweet scent reminicent of flowers and honey fill your nostrils.
[03:18] * Luna drops the ball and kicks it away
[03:18] <Patrick> "Oh, no..."
[03:18] * ~Steven covers his nose and swears lightly
[03:19] * Patrick pulls up his bandana over his nose and mouth
[03:19] * Luna yells back at the window "That was a mean trick professor!"
[03:19] * Patrick makes his way to the center of the group
[03:19] <Saia> You hear the cries of several Pokemon as they begin to approach you, shadows advancing on the edge of the circle of light.
[03:20] * ~Steven glances at his pokemon and returns all of them but Eva, for safety
[03:20] * Alizarin turns toward Lucca, who nods.
[03:20] <Saia> Three shadows approach from the ground, and another two seem to fly through the air.
[03:21] <Patrick> "Who here has flying pokemon?"
[03:21] <Saia> With a shriek they all jump into the light.
[03:21] <Saia> END SESSION

[03:21] <Patrick> And there wasn't even a Cleffa.
[03:21] * Alizarin boos
[03:22] <Luna> it could be a flying cleffa?
[03:22] <Patrick> How terrifying.
