  1. [11:11 AM] Leafia_Barrett: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzS96auqau0 hello, I'm 13 years late to the party on finding this, oops
  2. [11:11 AM] Leo: A classic
  3. [11:18 AM] Leafia_Barrett: 15 consecutive 6-10 frame inputs
  4. [11:18 AM] Leafia_Barrett: maybe it's for the best that it took me this long to find the video, because I can actually appreciate that kind of precision now
  5. [11:19 AM] Leafia_Barrett: I get frame data now, I didn't back before... I dunno, 2015?
  6. [11:19 AM] Leafia_Barrett: I mean actually understand it, not "I know what the term means"
  7. [11:28 AM] Acrox Shadow: the HD Re-release of SF3TS actually has a tutorial for parrying that
  8. [11:29 AM] Leafia_Barrett: considering human reaction time, as far as has been recorded, caps at about 0.15 seconds (~9 frames)
  9. [11:29 AM] MilesTheFox 🐭: you should watch Bl00dyBizkitz Data Org run from last GDQ, one of the fights he had to input a fuckton of 3-frame input windows, and he has to hit all of them for the strat to work, it's insane
  10. [11:30 AM] Leafia_Barrett: KHII run?
  11. [11:30 AM] MilesTheFox 🐭: yeah, lemme find the specific fight
  12. [11:32 AM] MilesTheFox 🐭: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4TEk8zW50M&t=23m59s
  13. [11:39 AM] Leafia_Barrett: someone wanna count that chain of inputs for me? because jesus fuck
  14. [11:39 AM] Leafia_Barrett: you were not kidding when you said fuckton
  15. [11:41 AM] Leafia_Barrett: that said, it's not quite the same. I recognize the skill, believe me I do, good god
  16. [11:41 AM] Leo: Wait, the battletoads are in KI?(edited)
  17. [11:42 AM] Leo: What in the goddamn
  18. [11:42 AM] Leafia_Barrett: but... let me try to figure out how to word this
  19. [11:42 AM] Leafia_Barrett: it's something you can set up, it's a consistent event that you can practice and anticipate without other variables (aside from the occasional Donald apparently) getting in the way
  20. [11:42 AM] Leafia_Barrett: and it's something you have more than one try on
  21. [11:43 AM] Leafia_Barrett: the exact timing is far stricter and the chain is a lot longer, but he went into it knowing exactly what would happen
  22. [11:43 AM] Acrox Shadow: well, Rash is
  23. [11:44 AM] Acrox Shadow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xzwafCJ28I
  24. [11:46 AM] Leafia_Barrett: in the case of #37, that was... not on the spot, he very clearly planned it (on the spot, but... you know what I mean) but certainly not rehearsed, he had one shot, he had the human element to factor in so he had to read and bait it
  25. [11:49 AM] Leafia_Barrett: like, whenever frame data is involved, speedrunners generally have stricter timing but fighters have to think on their feet against a learning and changing opponent unlike any other opponent in subtle and occasionally not-so-subtle ways
  26. [11:50 AM] Leafia_Barrett: you can't rehearse a tournament fight against a person because even if you've fought them a million times before, assuming both players are at the top of their class, he won't be the exact same person you fought the previous million times, and human variance is, always has been, and always will be a factor, so even if he was the exact same person, the match still wouldn't play out the exact same way
  27. [11:51 AM] Leafia_Barrett: does that make sense?
