  1. "Hey, wake up!"
  2.
  3. A loud knock yanks me out of my sleep. I look around my room trying to pull myself together. The sun was shining brightly through my window, how long was I asleep? I go to look at my phone to check the time, but I'm met with a battery logo, I forgot to charge my phone again, great. My scattered thoughts were interrupted by another loud knock, enough to knock any out sleepiness I had left in me.
  4.
  5. "C'mon Anon! Wake up!"
  6.
  7. The familiar voiced cried out on the other side of the door.
  8.
  9. "Sayori? What is she doing here?" I think to myself before my thoughts finally organized themselves, "Shit, I was suppose to hang out with her today!" I fumble out of bed, nearly tripping over my blanket as I rush to the door, "I must've slept in!"
  10.
  11. I quickly open the door to see Sayori, giggling slightly.
  12.
  13. "Good afternoon, sleepy head!" she says happily, "I was worried you went out somewhere, but I see you just slept in." She starts giggling even more.
  14.
  15. "What's so funny?" I ask her, frustrated and slightly embarrassed.
  16.
  17. "Oh nothing, it's just that you always get mad at me for sleeping in but here you are sleeping in longer than I've ever slept in." She says in a teasing tone.
  18.
  19. "Huh? What do you mean? How late is it?" The amount of times Sayori slept well into the afternoon makes me pretty worried about how late it is.
  20.
  21. "Oh you really must've just woken up then." She says with a surprised look, "It's nearly five, Anon."
  22.
  23. I look at her with disbelief, "What? You're kidding! It can't be five!"
  24.
  25. Sayori pulls out her phone to show me the time, sure it enough she wasn't lying, "4:56 PM" her phone read.
  26.
  27. "You've been up all night reading manga again haven't you?" she crosses her arms, "How many times do I have to tell you you still need to go to bed early, otherwise you'll sleep in!".
  28.
  29. I can't argue that, she's right, my sleep scheduled has been a mess lately because of it.
  30.
  31. That's not even the worst part!" she exclaims to me as she starts unlocking her phone, showing me her message log. "You didn't answer any of my messages! I've been trying to get a hold of you all day, you big meanie!" She pouts.
  32.
  33. She actually looks a bit upset saying that, did that really hurt her feelings? Before I could ask if that bothered her she speaks up softly, with a hint of insecurity behind her voice.
  34.
  35. "You weren't trying to avoid me today, were you Anon?". Before I could process why she would think that, I had already started talking.
  36.
  37. "Of course not! You know I'd never avoid seeing you, Sayori." She always had a way of getting me to speak before I think, "Why would you even think that?" I add.
  38.
  39. She looks away dejectedly, her voice speaking weakly, "It's just after what happened last week, I felt like I'd be a huge burden on you, and that maybe you'd like to get a break away from me, I mean I wouldn't blame you if you did, ehehe" She tried to forge a giggle through a faint smile.
  40.
  41. Suddenly, the memory of last week jolted through my sleep riddled mind.
  42.
  43.
  44. Sayori had confessed to me about her depression and mental state, something she had been hiding throughout our whole friendship. Sayori had so much built up she became a huge mess before she could finish telling me, all she could do was plead for the feeling to stop and how bad she wanted it stop.
  45.
  46. I had no idea what to do, how could I have helped someone I care for so deeply with something I barely understand? I was at a complete loss for words, all I could do was comfort her, and promised her I would help her get through it, no matter what it takes.
  47.
  48. She was completely hopeless, and even worse now that I knew and would worry about her. She kept begging me to forget about it and her and to just be happy with the Literature Club, how could I do that even if I wanted to?
  49.
  50. We made a promise that I would spend more time with her this week as long as she didn't do anything serious, which after some convincing she hesitantly agreed. We even made a pinky promise, just like when we were kids, something I felt like would help.
  51.
  52. That whole event sat in my mind all day, so much that I couldn't focus on anything I had to do that day, I ended up having to cut short the preparations for the festival. We managed to make due, so I guess it wasn't all bad, it's not like we would of gotten anyone new anyway.
  53.
  54. Sayori had told me her hardest days are the weekends, since she isn't around anyone to help her get out of her own head, which made me feel guilty; we had hung out every weekend when we were younger, but I started drifting away to watch anime and read manga. I told her we'd hang out all day on Saturday, no matter what.
  55.
  56. I feel horrible, how could I have broken that promise?
  57.
  58.
  59. "Sayori.." I utter out, the I struggle to make out the words I want to say.
  60.
  61. "It's okay" Sayori tells me, tears forming around her eyes. "I know how hard it is to deal with me, so I understand if you just wanna get away from me."
  62.
  63. Before she could say anything else I wrap my arms around her, holding her tightly.
  64.
  65. "No, it's not that Sayori, you were right, I was up all night, I forgot charge my phone so it's been dead all day. I've been looking forward to spending the day with you since I told you. I want to make it up to you for being late." I tell her softly.
  66.
  67. She speaks out through small sobs, "Well there is something you could do, Anon..".
  68.
  69. "What is it?" I ask, I'm ready to do anything to help her feel better.
  70.
  71.
  72. "Could you maybe...get some food?" she says as she looks away shyly.
  73.
  74. I let out a small relieved laugh,"I thought it was something serious!".
  75.
  76. "It is! Food helps me feel better and I'm hungry." She says, wiping the tears from her eyes.
  77.
  78. "Sayori, you did eat before you came over, right? " I let her go so she could breath, I was practically squeezing the life out of her.
  79.
  80. " Well yeah! I had a nice breakfast, brunch, and...lunch."
  81.
  82. I look at her with a deadpan expression, "Brunch is both breakfast and lunch, Sayori." .
  83.
  84. " I know that!" she replies as her face turns a light shade of red," I just thought that maybe we could, eat something together" She says softly as she plays with her fingers.
  85.
  86. I give her a stern look before giving her a soft smile, I could never say no to her, not when she acts cute like that.
  87.
  88. "Fine, what would you like to eat? I don't think we have much here" We never have time to cook at my house, so we just buy stuff to eat on the way home.
  89.
  90. "Maybe some pizza? " Sayori asks me with an optimistic tone in her voice.
  91.
  92. "Good idea, some pizza would hit the spot, I am pretty hungry myself." my stomach growls to remind me of the fact that I slept in.
  93.
  94. "You need to eat too, Anon! You can't just take care of me, I worry about you too." She exclaims with a worried expression.
  95.
  96. She was always making sure I was taking care of myself growing up, while I did the same, albeit more sternly, we really did take great care of each other, and I see now it hasn't gone away a bit.
  97.
  98. "Don't worry I'm gonna eat right now with you." I tell her with a reassuring smile.
  99.
  100. I can see her mood improving from the hasty wake up call she gave me. I ask to use Sayori's phone since mine was still dead, and after I made the order, I go to give the phone back to her. I see her sitting on my bed, looking around my room.
  101.
  102. "Yeah, I know it's a mess, I didn't have a chance to clean up." I tell her defensively.
  103.
  104. "Ehehe, it's not that, Anon" she laughs, "It's just that it's been so long since I've been in your room and yet it hasn't changed at all."
  105.
  106. Now that I think about she's right, how long has it been since she's been in my room? I haven't done any changes to my room at all except put some stuff I don't use anymore in my closet.
  107.
  108. "It's actually kind of nice." She says with a happy tone, "It's like you haven't changed either."
  109.
  110. Sayori gets up to walk to my dresser, and picks up a small cow key chain I've honestly almost forgotten about.
  111.
  112. "You still have that key chain I gave you!" Her voice lights up and she has the brightest look on her face.
  113.
  114. "Well I didn't want to throw it away, and I didn't know anywhere else to put it so I thought the dresser would be the best place."
  115.
  116. I can see that really touched her, because she kept staring at it for a small while longer.
  117.
  118.
  119. Eventually she turns to me and asks me
  120.
  121. "Do you remember when I gave it to you? It was such a long time ago." She laughs.
  122.
  123. "Of course I do, I haven't forgotten at all." I reply back.
  124.
  125. "It was around 6 years ago at the arcade. You wanted the stuffed animal, but you couldn't get enough tickets for it, I remember you were so sad, you almost started crying right then and there."
  126.
  127. Sayori looks at me a bit embarrassed, "I really wanted it! It was so cute! But I was so bad at the games I couldn't get enough tickets before we could leave."
  128.
  129. I add on to the story
  130.
  131. "I couldn't stand to see how sad you looked, so I went and used the rest of my quarters on as many games as I could, and I used them with the tickets I was saving up to get you the animal, I barely had enough to get it." I laugh.
  132.
  133. "I still remember how your face lit up when I gave it to you, you almost squeezed me to death with how excited you were."
  134.
  135. "I didn't think you'd get it for me!" she says with a serious face. " I was ready to accept that I wouldn't get it and you went and surprised me with it, I didn't know what else to do!" She calms down a bit and finishes the story up for me.
  136.
  137. "I asked if you had to use your tickets but you told me not to worry about, but you had done something so nice for me that I wanted make sure you got something nice too. I wasn't as good as you, but I tried my hardest and used the rest my quarters on the easier machines and managed to save up just enough for this. "
  138.
  139. She holds the key chain up in front of her.
  140.
  141. " You never smiled as big as I did, but I could tell the smile you had would of been bigger than me if you did!" She says walking towards me.
  142.
  143. "Well yeah, of course it would of been." I laugh with a smile forming on my face. "It was a gift from you, Sayori." I tell her without realizing what that sounded like.
  144.
  145. I can see she thought the same thing as both of our faces turn a a shade of red.
  146.
  147. "Do you..do you really mean that?" Sayori asks me softly, her eyes looking away before meeting with mine.
  148.
  149. "I do, why do you think the key chain has been there for so long?" I was embarrassed saying that but I was already speaking without thinking so I might as well go the full mile.
  150.
  151. "That key chain meant a lot for me, I would stare at it every morning when I would get ready for school, and whenever I would have a bad day it would be there to remind me you care about me, it really helped me."
  152.
  153. Sayori tried to say something, but she was taken back by what I said, tears started forming before she had a huge smile on her face.
  154.
  155. "Anon.." was all she could utter out before wrapping her arms around me.
  156.
  157. "I slept with the stuffed animal for years. Even now it still sits on my bed when I go to sleep. I hold on to it when ever I'm having a really bad day and it always makes me feel better."
  158.
  159. I wrap my arms around her and rub the back of her head.
  160.
  161. "I'm glad it does, Sayori."
  162.
  163. We stand there for a moment embracing each other before Sayori looks up at me.
  164.
  165. "Hey Anon, can we do something we use to do back then? All these talks of memories make me wanna act like kids again. " She says with a small hint of embarrassment on her face.
  166.
  167. I give her a reassuring smile and tell her it's okay, "Yeah sure, that would be really nice."
  168. Our eyes lock and we give each other soft smiles.
  169.
  170. "What would you like to do?" I ask her.
  171.
  172. She thinks for a bit, giving me a cute puzzled face before it lights up.
  173.
  174. "Oh I know! How about we play a game? Do you still have any of the games we'd play together?"
  175.
  176. "A game? Uh, I should still have it, let me look to see if I put it away."
  177.
  178.
  179.
  180. I go through my closet, moving aside old clothes I don't wear anymore and find the old system in a box collecting dust, I take the box out and place it on my bed. I take out the system and wires while Sayori reaches for the games underneath, looking to see what we could play. As I set the system up, she goes through each game telling me her favorite part about each one. Finally after I finish setting up everything, Sayori decides on a game.
  181.
  182. "This one!" She says as she holds the game up to me. "Can we play this one? We played this one lots as kids!"
  183.
  184. I take the game and look at for a few seconds to look at the game, it was probably the game we played the most because it was easy for both of us to play at the time.
  185.
  186. "Yeah, let's play this one, I wonder if I'm still any good."
  187.
  188. Sayori's face beams with excitement, "Yay! I'm sure you're still good Anon!"
  189.
  190. I put the game in and after a few attempts I'm met with the start screen, and Sayori is practically bouncing with on my bed, I haven't seen her that happy in ages, it's heartwarming to see her that way.
  191.
  192. "Hey Anon." she says, when I turn to look at her she's pulled out another controller.
  193.
  194. "How about we play together?" She says shyly.
  195.
  196. I reply back with a warm smile and take the controller and plug it in.
  197.
  198.
  199. We play what's basically a race to the finish, with Sayori having a hard time keeping up. We play for a small while before the game tallys up the score and claims me the victor.
  200.
  201. "Better luck next time." I tell Sayori in a teasing tone."
  202.
  203. She pouts at me and crosses her arms.
  204.
  205. "No fair! You know I'm not as good as you!"
  206.
  207. I can't help but laugh at how cute she's being right now.
  208.
  209. "Did you at least have fun?" I ask her.
  210.
  211. She nods her head, "Ahuh! I might not be as good as you but I still had fun looking at all the cute animals in the level, hehe."
  212.
  213. Typical Sayori, well as long as she had fun that's what mattered to me.
  214.
  215. "Do you think I could just watch you this time Anon?" She asks, "I don't feel like playing but I'm still having a lot of fun, and besides that's usually what we did back then since I wasn't so good." She says with a small embarrassed tone in her voice.
  216.
  217. That's usually how it was when we we're kids, she'd like seeing me play and still have just as much fun as I did playing it, and she was really supportive as well, as supportive as your best friend would be in a game.
  218.
  219. "As long as you have fun Sayori." I tell her as I load up the regular game mode.
  220.
  221. She gives me a warm smile and a nod, that's all I needed. I play through the first couple of levels with Sayori cheering me on and telling me to avoid the hazards, she even acts surprised when I find secrets in the level too. I've played this game a hundred times by myself, so much that it became boring, but now that I'm playing with Sayori again and she's cheering me on and congratulating me on beating the levels, I can't help but have a blast with this game. I'm nearing the end of the game when I notice Sayori shimmies herself closer to me, and rests her head on my shoulder. I beat the game after a couple of tries and reassuring encouragement from Sayori, to which she congratulates me by giving me a hug, I can't help but smile and laugh with her.
  222.
  223. "You weren't bored were you?" I ask her a bit concerned.
  224.
  225. She shakes her head quickly, "Not at all! I had a lot of fun! Why would I be bored?".
  226.
  227. "Well it's just that you got sleepy and put your head on me."
  228.
  229. Her face turns a bit red but she laughs it off.
  230.
  231. "I wasn't bored, silly! I was just really comfy, playing these old games with you really does feel like old times. It didn't bother you did it? I know you played this game before so it must of been boring."
  232.
  233. "No! I actually had the most fun I've had playing with you, doing stuff like this with you makes me really happy , Sayori."
  234.
  235. Her face turns red. "It makes me really happy too, Anon." she says softly as she tries her hardest to maintain eye contact with me.
  236.
  237. I hadn't realized how close we were, but once I do, my head starts getting dizzy. Sayori doesn't seem to mind either, as she keeps staring deeper in my eyes. It feels like time's slowed down, and my head keeps getting fuzzier and fuzzier.
  238.
  239.
  240. Suddenly, a loud ring scares both of us out of the moment and my head clears up. We try to collect ourselves as another ring echos through the house.
  241.
  242. "The pizza!" I shout as I get up and rush to the door.
  243.
  244. We payed so much that we completely lost track of time. I come back into the room with pizza and set it on the bed. Sayori's face lights up when she sees the food and happily digs in before I even got a chance to sit down.
  245.
  246. "I take it you're pretty hungry?" I tell her jokingly.
  247.
  248. She happily nods her head with a muffled "Mhmm".
  249.
  250. I can't help but smile at her. I sit down next to her and take a slice for myself. Sayori goes though most of the pizza before I touch my third slice, she's getting ready to go for another piece before she stops and lays back on my bed. I look over at her.
  251.
  252. "Why'd you stop? Don't you want more?".
  253. She shakes her head, "No it's okay, I ate too much and you still have to eat!" she says worryingly.
  254.
  255. "I'm fine with what I have Sayori." I reassure her, "You always ate more than me anyway, its fine."
  256. She looks at the pizza before pouting a bit.
  257.
  258. "I'd still feel bad if I ate it, I already ate today and this is the first time you've eaten all day."
  259.
  260. I can't really deny that, I think about it for a moment.
  261.
  262. "Tell you what?" I say as i close the box. "How about we save it for later and if either of us gets hungry again we'll grab a slice, how's that sound?"
  263.
  264. Sayori happily nods her head. "That sounds like a good idea!"
  265.
  266. I give her a soft smile. "In the mean time how about we play something else?" I suggest, grabbing the controller. She shoots up and nods her head, jumping a bit on my bed.
  267.
  268. "Please! I was having a lot of fun!"
  269.
  270. How can I say no to that?
  271.
  272. "Well pick out another game, I'll let you choose!"
  273.
  274. Sayori rummages through the box looking for another game, she comes across an old RPG styled game, we never played much of it because it was too complicated for us at the time, but we both thought the person on the cover was really cool.
  275.
  276.
  277. "You sure you wanna play that one? It might be kind of boring." I ask her.
  278.
  279.
  280. "Yeah! I wanna see who the guy on the picture is! Besides we'll make it fun!" She tells me with a happy tone.
  281.
  282. "Well if you insist."
  283. I put the game in and I'm met with a menu with the same guy on the cover photo. I hit new game and the introduction starts. I read the intro to myself, it's nothing special, just your usual "great evil threatening to take over a kingdom and you're the only one who can stop it" styled story.
  284. "Aren't you going to read, Anon?" Sayori asks me
  285. Confused, I ask her. "Huh? Read? What do you mean?"
  286. "Usually stories like these are fun when you read the words out loud!"
  287. "Er, okay"
  288.
  289. I read the text out loud, but Sayori stops me before I get past one line.
  290.
  291. "Not like that silly!"
  292. "Well what do you mean!" I tell her even more confused
  293. "Like this!"
  294. Sayori reads the text in a deep voice, well, her attempt at a deep voice. She sounds like she's reading to a group of kids, but I can't help but laugh.
  295. "Now you try it! It's fun!"
  296.
  297. I let out a sigh, "Alright I'll try"
  298.
  299. I attempt the same style of speaking she did, I didn't do it as enthusiastically as she did but Sayori giggled none the less. The game started and we created a character together,a pink shirted hero wasn't something I've done before, but Sayori left her mark on my character, not that I mind.
  300.
  301. When my character goes to town to talk to people, Sayori insists I still voice people. It was pretty difficult trying to come up with different voices for everyone but Sayori kept reassuring me that I was doing a good job, to help she voiced any of the female characters we came across, which helped me get use to voicing the characters.
  302. When we got to select our equipment, Sayori picked out the cute looking clothing the game gives you. Playing this game with her influence made it a lot more interesting that I was expecting and honestly it made it a lot more fun.
  303. She would tell me to watch out for enemies sneaking up on me, and where I should go. We even found some secrets with her help, and she'd give me a big hug whenever we'd complete a quest. We didn't get much of the main story done, but honestly I just had more fun exploring with her by my side.
  304. After a small while of playing Sayori gets up to grab another slice of pizza, while I continued to keep playing, expecting her to come back and sit next to me. Suddenly, Sayori wraps her arms around me from behind.
  305.
  306. "Sayori?" I ask, her hug catching me off guard.
  307.
  308. "Thanks, Anon" She tells me in a sweet voice.
  309.
  310. "Thanks? For what?"
  311.
  312. "For going through all this effort to make me feel better, I know you'd probably be doing something for fun, but I can't tell you how happy playing games with you makes me feel."
  313.
  314. Sayori hugs me a bit tighter, resting her head on my should. I place my hand on hers.
  315.
  316. "I'd rather be doing this than anything else, Sayori." I tell her with a happy tone. "This is the most fun I've had on a weekend in a really long time, and I have you to thank for it."
  317.
  318. She gives me a tight squeeze and sits down next to me again, this time already close enough to be should to shoulder with her.
  319.
  320.
  321. "You have a monster to beat!" She yells as she points to the screen.
  322.
  323. I look back at the screen and see that I'm in still in a battle that I hadn't finished, I continue the fight, only barely succeeding. We dwelve into a dungeon, which got harder as we kept exploring, Sayori would comment on how some of the monsters we're scary and wanted me to beat them fast, and other times she'd say a monster was cute and wish I didn't have to fight them. I could easily of beaten the cute ones, but for her sake, anytime I'd encounter one I'd run away, something she seems to appreciate. We ended up defeating the main monster of the dungeon, Sayori congratulates me with another hug.
  324.
  325. I hug her back and go to get another slice of pizza, after I take a bite I look outside and notice that it's already dark. I'm not use to waking up so late in the day so this caught me off guard.
  326.
  327. "Huh it's dark already"
  328.
  329. "Oh yeah, it is. I was having so much fun I lost track of time."
  330.
  331. "Yeah me too." I laugh. "What time is it exactly?" I ask Sayori
  332.
  333. Sayori looks at her phone and a small surprised look forms on her face.
  334.
  335. "It's 10:30!"
  336.
  337. "Really? We've been playing for that long?" I ask in disbelief.
  338.
  339. Sayori nods her head in agreement
  340.
  341. "It feels like we only just started playing" She says before looking outside with a worried look on her face.
  342.
  343. "What's wrong?" I ask her.
  344.
  345. "I always hated this time of the night."
  346.
  347. She looks down a bit, and her voice has a hint of sadness in it.
  348.
  349. "My mom usually works around this time of night, so I don't really have anyone to talk to. I usually feel really alone then."
  350.
  351. That's right, both of our parents usually worked around the same hours, so we never had anyone to see but each other.
  352.
  353. I go to sit down next to Sayori and put my arm around her. We sit there for a minute through the gloomy atmosphere, when an idea pops in my head.
  354.
  355. "Hey Sayori." I ask quietly through the silence of the room.
  356.
  357. She looks up at me.
  358.
  359. "How would you like to spend the night? Remember how we'd spend almost every weekend having sleep overs? Maybe we can try it again as well."
  360.
  361. Sayoris face beams up, before she tries to hide her smile through a blushed face. She looks away and mutters
  362.
  363. "Would that be okay? You don't have to, you've done enough already." She says dimly.
  364.
  365. I place my hand under her chin and lightly push her head up so she looks at me.
  366.
  367. "I'm not doing this because I have to Sayori, I'm doing it because I want to." I say warmly.
  368.
  369. At this point I don't know if I'm speaking without thinking, but I really don't care.
  370.
  371. Sayoris eyes tear up a bit before she gives a bright smile and hugs me.
  372.
  373. "Thank you so much, Anon" She says happily.
  374.
  375. "Don't worry about it." I assure her, hugging her back.
  376.
  377. "Do you think we can at least go back to my house so I can grab clothes?" She says embarrassed
  378.
  379. "I didn't think I'd be staying the night, you should've let me know!" She jokes, playfully poking my cheek.
  380.
  381. "I didn't plan it either!" I reply back as I poke her cheek back.
  382.
  383. "C'mon, let's go before it get's too late"
  384.
  385. Me and Sayori walk to her house, I spend a little bit of time near the front door waiting for her to grab her things. After a few minutes Sayori comes out with a small pink backpack.
  386.
  387. "I didn't keep you waiting long did I?" she asks with a concerned tone.
  388.
  389. "Nah, you we're pretty fast actually."
  390.
  391. "Well I wanted to be fast! I'm really excited!" She jumps a bit.
  392.
  393. I smile at how cute she's being.
  394.
  395. "I'm pretty excited too, ready?"
  396.
  397. Sayori nods
  398.
  399. "I just had to message my mom that I would spend the night at your house."
  400.
  401. "Good idea, I don't want her to freak out." I laugh
  402.
  403. Sayori giggles and we walk back to my house.
  404.
  405. We get back home and settle back into my room. Not expecting to play anymore, I change the tv to show regular shows. Sayori sits down next to me and we skim through the channels a bit, watching a little of everything. After a small while Sayori lays her head against me, followed by me right after. I day dream for a little bit, thinking about how comforting it is having her this close to me. My train of though is broken when I hear Sayori yawn.
  406.
  407. "Getting sleepy?" I ask her.
  408.
  409. She nods, rubbing her eyes.
  410.
  411. "It is getting pretty late. Wanna sleep?"
  412.
  413. "Yeah, let me just wear my pajamas." She says sleepily
  414.
  415. Sayori gets up and grabs her backpack and steps out to go change in the bathroom. I get up to turn the tv off and turn off the light, turning on the lamp next to my bed, I haven't changed out of my own pajamas from sleeping in, so I just lay back down on the bed. Sayori comes back in, but she's still in her outfit from today.
  416.
  417. "Um, Anon" She asks embarrasingly. Her face is reddening more and more by the second.
  418.
  419. "I forgot to grab a shirt, and I want to wear something comfy.." she stutters for a moment before speaking again.
  420.
  421. "Can I borrow one of your shirts?" she asks quietly.
  422.
  423. How can I say no to something that cute?
  424.
  425. "Sure Sayori." I tell her as I get up and go through my dresser.
  426.
  427. I try to look for the shirts that have a soft feel to it, after rummaging I pull out a two colored t shirt, and hand it to her. She thanks me and goes off to change.
  428.
  429. I go to lay back down and wait for Sayori, after a couple of minutes I hear the door open, and look to see Sayori, wearing the shirt I gave her and pink pajama pants with cows dotted all over them. The shirt is a bit too big and hangs a bit lower than it should, but she defenitly looks comfortable. Sayori quietly places her headband on my dresser and lays down on the bed, her face a shade of red.
  430.
  431. "How's the shirt fit?" I ask her.
  432.
  433. "It fits pefect anon! " she breaks through her shyness to give me a happy reply.
  434.
  435. "I'm glad! I wanted to find the softest shirt I had." I laugh
  436.
  437. "It's really soft! It's like I'm wearing a blanket all the time!" She says as she rubs the shirt on the sleeves.
  438.
  439. How can a girl be this adorable all the time?
  440.
  441. "Maybe you won't hog the blanket then?" I jokingly say
  442.
  443. "I never hog the blanket! You always did !" She says back defensivly.
  444.
  445. "Nu uh! Once you fell asleep you'd steal all the blankets and let me freeze!" I say as I poke her cheek.
  446.
  447. "I like to be comfy and warm!" She pouts at me.
  448.
  449. "Doesn't mean I you can have all the blankets! Besides, we only have one here." I tell her.
  450.
  451. Sayori looks at the realization that there is only one blanket, and a flustered look comes across her face.
  452.
  453. "Does that mean we have to.."
  454.
  455. "Share the blanket?" I finish the question for her.
  456.
  457. She shyly nods.
  458.
  459. "Are you okay with that? I can sleep without it and you can use it." I reassure her
  460.
  461. "No! It's okay!" she objects.
  462.
  463. "I think it would be nice if we could share it. " She says before a yawn sneaks up on her.
  464.
  465.
  466. I laugh soflty and pat her head.
  467.
  468. "Alright sleepy head, ready for bed?" I ask her.
  469.
  470. Sayori nods, her eyes slightly fighting sleep.
  471.
  472. I turn off the lamp and turn to face Sayori, who's nearly already asleep.
  473.
  474. "Goodnight Sayori." I tell her softly.
  475.
  476. "Goodnight..Anon. Thank you.." she replies, even more soflty before drifitng off to sleep.
  477.
  478. It takes me a couple of minutes to fall asleep, but I spend those minutes looking at Sayori sleeping, thinking about the great time we had today. I fall asleep with a small smile on my face knowing I made her happy.
  479.
  480.
  481.
  482.
  483. I wake up to the sound of something, the moonlight outside illuminates my room a small bit. I try to figure out what it was that woke me up. That's when I hear it again, a whimper. Is Sayori whimpering?
  484.
  485. I look over at Sayori, who's still asleep, but she has a pained expression on her face, every now and again she'd let out a muffled whimper. She must be having a nightmare.
  486.
  487. "Sayori.." I whisper, trying to wake her up.
  488.
  489. She doesn't react, I try again and place my hand on her shoulder, lightly moving her.
  490.
  491. "Sayori, wake up!" I whisper again.
  492.
  493. Sayori wakes up in a gasp and wide eyed expression, she catchers her breath before staring around the room, trying to collect herself, she stops looking when she stares at me.
  494.
  495. "Anon?" She says in a sobbing tone.
  496.
  497. "You were having a a bad dream, I was trying to wake you up" I say in a soft concerned tone.
  498.
  499. Before Sayori could say anything she breaks down into tears, and I immedietly put my arm around her and pull her close.
  500.
  501. "I'm really sorry Anon!" she cries out.
  502.
  503. "It's okay Sayori, it's okay" I tell her as I slide my arm under and pull her closer to me.
  504.
  505. Sayori continues to cry into my chest for a small while, before slowly stopping.
  506.
  507. "I'm sorry, I usually have nightmares and I don't know how to react once I wake up." she tells me in between sobs.
  508.
  509. Usually? This is a normal thing?
  510.
  511. "It's okay" I tell her in a soft voice. "The nightmares over"
  512.
  513.
  514. "But what if it comes back, Anon?" She asks me in a scared tone.
  515.
  516. "Then I'll hold you like this all night, that way when you wake up you'll already be in my arms and you'll know it'll be okay.
  517.
  518. Sayori looks up at me, her eyes glistening in the light from the tears.
  519.
  520. "Anon.." she says soflty.
  521.
  522. "Shhh. It's okay , I don't mind. It'll help me feel better too"
  523.
  524. Sayori tears up a bit.
  525.
  526. "Thank you so much, for everything."
  527.
  528. "Anything for you Sayori."
  529.
  530. She smiles as her sleepiness catches up to her, her eyes start closing slowly.
  531.
  532. "I'll be right here when you wake up." I tell her with a smile.
  533.
  534. Sayori smiles and thanks me one more time.
  535.
  536. "Goodnight, Anon" she says again.
  537.
  538. "Goodnight Sayori" I whisper as I kiss her forehead
  539.
  540. "Sweet dreams."
  541.
  542. She smiles softly as she drifts off back to sleep.
  543.
  544. I stay awake for the next 10 minutes or so, making sure she doesn't wake up again. Occasionally she'd make a small noise but I'd rub her head and the noise would go away soon after. Once I noticed the noises stopped entirely, I felt relaxed enough to fall asleep myself.
