- Unemployed and newly-divorced Stephanie Plum lands a job at her cousin's bail-bond business, where her first assignment puts her on the trail of a wanted local cop from her romantic past.
- After losing her job, Jersey girl Stephanie Plum is broke. Needing a job she is told that her cousin, a bail bondsman, needs someone to help out in the office. But the only job openings he has are for skip tracers. She learns that Joe Morelli, a guy she knew intimately years ago, is one of the "skips". She eventually finds him but wasn't really prepared so he gets away. Another bounty hunter, Ranger, tries to teach her. Eventually she finds Morelli again, but he claims he is innocent of the crime he is accused of and he is trying to prove his innocence. Eventually Stephanie thinks he's telling the truth so she stakes out the person who can help him. She only finds herself in trouble and Morelli saves her. She tries to find someone who can prove his innocence, but the problem is that shortly after meeting with them they're killed or attacked.
- Having lost her job at Macy's Stephanie Plum (Katherine Heigl) takes a job in her cousin's bail-bond business. Her take would be $50,000 if she can bring in Joe Morelli (Jason O'Mara), a cop wanted in the shooting of an unarmed man.

Normally, I make sure I see the next Katherine Heigl movie. Usually, they are fun, witty, engaging, good one-liners, good dialogue and banter, great facial expressions, some good sight gags, and come on: look at her, she is beautiful and has a very infectious laugh. What's not to like? Well, this movie for one thing.

So what happened? A bland movie happened. Nothing interesting happened. Not witty, not engaging, no great facial expressions, no good one-liners, lame banter, no good sight gags, but KH is still beautiful and I saw the movie was going nowhere so I star gazed . I prefer her as a blonde, but the script called for brunette. Too bad the script didn't call for anything else like a good movie.

You know Stephanie is out of her league in a bounty hunter job. And, you just know this will bring into focus many things that will go wrong and you will laugh like you did with other KH movies. So you wait, and wait and wait some more. Didn't happen. I am reminded of the last Kentucky Derby race where I am still waiting for my horse to finish.

To be fair all actors did respectable jobs. It wasn't their fault. They went through their paces in fine fashion as in a trance. They didn't write the script, but maybe they should have had some input. And, also to be fair Jason O'Mara, as Joe, did his level best to make this a more animated movie as it all should have been. But, he had nothing to work against. OK, he did, but the script wouldn't allow anyone else to become animated or funny. Bummer. And, there I was star gazing at you know who. Very beautiful. Story? What story?

So now what? What do I do now? Why wait for then next Katherine Heigl movie, of course. What's not to like? And, maybe it will be a better movie. Hey, she is beautiful, has a nice laugh and can act but in here she was definitely in a slump with a bad script. Good athletes go into slumps, why not good actresses? Can happen.

Let's just say this was a very bland movie good enough as a made-for-TV movie, which is to say: watchable, nothing more. Well, except for the star gazing aspect. That's something. (5/10)

Violence: Yes. Sex: No. Nudity: No. Language: No.
- Utterly forgettable. What else do you expect when you base a movie off of a Janet Evanovich movie? She cranks out books as quickly as the publisher can crank out checks. Who else but Hollywood would think of making that trash into a movie? But they did. They realized there was a market to sell to: the people who have never read a classic novel in their life.

The first thing you will notice about this movie is Katherine Heigl's New Jersey accent. Let me rephrase. He attempt at a New Jersey accent. Heigl's voice is so distracting from the very start that it was difficult to ever get into the grove of the story. The story, by the way, doesn't start until you are about half an hour in. This movie has so much exposition that I recommend a good nap after the trailers finish (seriously, you get me all excited with the Hunger Games trailer and follow it up this this?).

When the story finally gets going, there is potential. All that potential, however, is utterly wasted. Characters are added and forgotten so many times that I can't help but wonder if it would be better to simply cut all the extras and other actors. That way Heigl could run around with a gun for two hours, trying to uncover a mystery that doesn't make sense and never will. Wait that was the storyline.

I'm going to give a criticism here that gives away a little. If you want to watch this awful movie, skip to the next paragraph. There is on scene where Heigl runs into a cop's office and gives a great speech about how she caused someone's death and how the police need to protect a couple other people. Literally ten minutes later she causes another death then proceeded to not care and even laugh immediately afterwards. Not only are the characters expendable in this movie, they have no set characteristics.

It goes without saying that you shouldn't see this movie. In fact, you should do whatever is in your power to make sure another Janet Evanovich movie is never made again. This movie is a waste of time and money. It is yet another example—alongside many other movies this year—I'm looking at you Underworld—that are cutting corners to sell to a market and make a quick buck.
- During a dinner with Stephanie's colorfully ethnic family, including a squandered Debbie Reynolds, the reaction shots arrive with bludgeoning regularity, and the soundtrack's burbling organ serves as an incessant reminder not to take anything seriously. Fortunately, there's no danger of that.
- Yes, this film is based on the worldwide best-selling 18-book mystery series by Janet Evanovic. a5c7b9f00b
