  1. Last night Newsnight featured yet another item on GIDS - England's Gender Identity Development Service.
  2.
  3. I believe that yet again you are platforming people who have an axe to grind rather than examining the issues in a balanced, dispassionate way. The same reporter and producer are given space to air their view time and again - views which have been addressed by independent inquiries and found wanting.
  4.
  5. This time they rehashed the same complaints which were raised in 2018. It was claimed that "evidence exclusively seen by Newsnight" ... yet it turned out this is the same evidence which was examined by Dr Sinha and formed the basis of his report to the Tavistock and Portman board of governors and the resulting action plan in March 2019.
  6.
  7. Voice was given to insinuations like safeguarding concerns is the reason why "more than 40 clinicians decided to leave in 3 years" - yet a simple FoI request shows that most of these individuals had genuine reasons for leaving unrelated to the standard of care - promotion, caring for dependents, retirement, promotion or better rewards elsewhere.
  8.
  9. This was just one concrete example where claims were reported at face value without further analysis.
  10.
  11. Another is the characterisation of the NHS Review: the implication that it relates to these reports / concerns rather than that, in reality, it is part of the usual process of NHS reviews.
  12.
  13. Yet again a biased report has been aired; the timing of which is suspicious coming less than a week after a government leaked document suggests that reforms to the GRA (which doesn't affect children or adolescents in any case) have been substantially rolled back if not dropped completely.
  14.
  15. The atmosphere of the report was telling too: the dramatic, foreboding music and generally decision on graphics portraying something nefarious; instead of professionals working in a complex area of therapy which requires nuance and decision making on an individual basis.
