  1. GOD Last time on godbound: Anuman, Kyrios, and Zoltan joined forces, Isolde got her ass kicked but gave about as good as she got, and Samael committed high-velocity regicide and decided to consider the merits of peace... after kicking Isolde's ass.
  2. GOD Isolde: What are you doing?
  3. GOD Anyone else doing anything?
  4. Isolde_Argyris has trekked for days trying to reach the city of healers. Her wounds have slowed her down, but her supernatural vitality has kept her moving.
  5. Zoltan is drawing up plans for the rebuilding of Troklios. He has not yet decided if the city should still remain with that name, or if it should don another, as a sign of a new rebirth for this city and its inhabitants, old and new.
  6. Anuman_Davi and his group of labors spends days working on the two major breaches of the city walls though the 'new' structure may not look like it's original architecture, it will serve it's function.
  7. Kyrios Kyrios has spent his godly powers providing for the people of Troklios. Food, tools, weapons, where needed. No shortages are permissible during this time of initial rebuilding. He gets to know the guild leaders and elders not of the Agathean tribe, learning the traditions and ways of the city's people.
  8. GOD One of your priests, Hadju, walks in. He is old, and originally of aristocratic birth. Before your birth, he was expected to become the next high priest of the temple-library. He suggests that you name the city after what the people have begun to call themselves: Bibliocians.
  9. Kyrios His guardians are told to train the able-bodied among the populace, with patrols keeping a watchful eye on the city.
  10. GOD You meet with the head of the guard, Halasaz, and the head of the general guilds, Csonka. There are not enough craftsmen left to form individual guilds.
  11. GOD A stranger woman, tall and well-muscled, walks up to the front gate.
  12. GOD Isolde, what do you do?
  13. Zoltan "This effort would not be possible without our new friends and allies. I would not name our new city after just us, though I'll definitely put it forward." Zoltan ponders for a moment before going back over his map, muttering to himself. "Bibliocia has a ring to it, yes, it does."
  14. GOD Perhaps a hyphen? Or a general name, like 'union' or 'commonwealth'?
  15. GOD Of course, though, names have great power.
  16. Kyrios Kyrios hears the calls of the Guardians at the gates, and calmly makes his way to see the new arrival.
  17. Kyrios """""""""""""""""""""
  18. GOD What does he say?
  19. Zoltan "We shall decide, as a council, as we agreed with Kyrios and Anuman."
  20. GOD "very well"
  21. GOD Isolde, what does he see?
  22. Isolde_Argyris waits, silently. In wide eyed wonder she gazes up at the walls, tracing her eyes over the contours of the stonework. She has never seen anything quite like it; her ancestors had stories of man made mountains, but never in her widlest dreams did she pictures these walls to be this tall.
  23. Kyrios orders the gates be opened, as he approaches.
  24. GOD Though obviously having seen better days, being patched in places, the walls stretch away to either side, curving out of sight
  25. Anuman_Davi wipes his hands on some old rags.
  26. Isolde_Argyris The woman standing before the gate is dressed in a ragged, weather beaten leather. The leather sandals wrapped around her feet are ratty and worn, nearly destroyed by the walk over. Clearly they are valuable possesion; otherwise she would have thrown them away already. She stiffens her back as the gates open, and she calls out into the opening void.
  27. GOD Inside, Isolde sees more buildings than are in her entire home village proper; almost as an afterthought, she notices that there is a conspicous absence of people to fill those buildings
  28. Anuman_Davi looks at the wall he build and compared it to the rest of it. "Well, I didn't do any justice to the original creator, but it will work for now."
  29. Isolde_Argyris "Hello! Hail! This daughter of the Mochthonians seeks healing!"
  30. Kyrios "You, there," Kyrios addresses one of the Guardians. "Send word for Zoltan."
  31. Kyrios Kyrios approaches the opening gates, dressed in his robes and unarmed, as welcoming to the ragged creature in front of him.
  32. Kyrios "Come, young woman. Enter, and be welcomed. The city's greatest healer will see you."
  33. Isolde_Argyris sheepishly glances around before following the man's order. "Uh...thanks, m'lord."
  34. GOD As soon as Zoltan lies down, a runner bursts into his tent, informing him of the stranger at the gate. After delivering the news, he seems somewhat confused as to why this was important enough to merit HIM disturbing YOUR rest.
  35. Anuman_Davi makes his way down the wall and. Davi himself a tent in one of the labor camps to lay down and take a rest.
  36. Kyrios "Whatever has happened to you, know that in these walls you will find shelter, warmth, and protection."
  37. Zoltan "A man of my learning never rests until those who seek aid receive it. Now bring me to this newly arrived person."
  38. GOD Yes sir!
  39. GOD He hurries off, just barely letting you keep pace
  40. GOD You arrive
  41. Zoltan "By the heavens," he comments while looking Isolde up and down. She looks like she's wrestled in the dirt with various animals and fended off bandits for more than a week. Zoltan nods a short greeting to Kyrios before introducing himself to the weary-beaten traveler.
  42. Kyrios "You are in good hands now, young lady," he nods.
  43. Zoltan "Lady?" He squints at the bedraggled traveler before realizing that it is in fact a woman. "You are in such bad shape I never even realized."
  44. GOD (BUUUUUUUUUUURN)
  45. GOD (DIRT BURRRRRRRRRRRRRN)
  46. Kyrios "Forgive him. What he lacks in etiquette he more than makes up for in his abilities as a healer," Kyrios says with a smile.
  47. Isolde_Argyris limps over, staring at the strange men about her. "For his sake, I hope that's the case. Because right now, I have half a mind to- ah, forget it. It's been a long journey, and I have much on my mind."
  48. Zoltan "Yes, well," he clears his throat, "if you'll follow me we'll see to your wounds. Do you require assistance to walk further? You look as if you've been traveling for weeks without rest."
  49. Isolde_Argyris blinks. "I...have? You see, there's another reason I came here. Something strange has been happening to me. Something I can't explain for the life of me. I have these...powers. They developed slowly at first, but with some effort I was able to hone them into abilities that defy common sense."
  50. Kyrios raises an eyebrow at Zoltan
  51. Isolde_Argyris "For instance, I walked straight here. I didn't sleep, eat, drink...or take a breathe. My wounds, they...they...they almost healed themselves."
  52. Kyrios "Interesting... most interesting."
  53. Zoltan returns the look to Kyrios, before looking back to Isolde. "Follow me if you please, we have much to talk about, that is, if you don't need my healing touch?"
  54. GOD #godbound2
  55. Kyrios "Anuman's studies on the subject will be enhanced by this... he will want to meet you, erm... what is your name, young lady?"
  56. Isolde_Argyris "Isolde. I take it this means you know what's happening to me? I would appreciate answers. Now, preferably." Seems like the impatience of youth is starting ot get to our young heroine.
  57. Isolde_Argyris does as she is told, following Zoltan as he walks to...whever he's going. "Speaking of answers, where in the name of the Lash is everybody? My people's tales claimed this place was a metropolis. I know it was sacked but...even with that in mind, this place is unnervingly still."
  58. Kyrios "Anuman, the greatest scholar I have yet known, will have more answers than I can ever provide. But it appears as though the world is changing... and people such as we have been chosen to fill the void left by the neglectful gods."
  59. Kyrios motions for a citizen to fetch Anuman.
  60. Isolde_Argyris "I- What? No no, you must be mistaken. I'm a Mochthonian. I..." Her face sours, and her eyes droop. Her cultural heritage haunts her still, and dogs her confidence. "I'm so confused."
  61. Zoltan The healer nods, "yes. Troklios was once a shining jewel for leagues around, a great city of trade and learning, alas." He motions around him, "we are a but a few thousand, picking at what's left. The arrival of Kyrios and Anuman has made it that we can rebuild now."
  62. GOD A runner bursts into Anuman's tent. Inexplicably, it's the same runner. He proclaims that Anuman's presence is needed at a meeting of the other city leaders and a mysterious lady-hobo
  63. Kyrios puts a hand on her shoulder "Yes. You. You will change the world. And the freedom to decide how the world will change is yours. Ours..." he looks up at Zoltan.
  64. Zoltan "Ours, indeed. A most curious thing to be sure."
  65. Zoltan "If what you say is true, I find it amazing that you have such endurance and health."
  66. Anuman_Davi wakes in a confused and sleep deviated state. He follows the messenger back to Zoltan and group.
  67. Zoltan Once inside the Pyrthion, directs everyone to sit down and wait for Anuman to arrive.
  68. GOD Anuman arrives
  69. Anuman_Davi says "Greetings." and still smells of sweat and mortar from the mundane labor.
  70. Isolde_Argyris sits. "So...you are like me, then? This must be fate. Our meeting, I mean. Perhaps...perhaps you can all help me."
  71. Isolde_Argyris "I-if you're all so inclined, of course."
  72. Zoltan Zoltan nods in greeting to Anuman.
  73. Kyrios "Master Anuman, good to see you join us. There has been a development which will surely be of importance to you and your studies. As you have now heard, the young lady before us, Isolde, possesses gifts not unlike our own."
  74. Anuman_Davi "Of course... I will gladly help in matter I can."
  75. Zoltan "Indeed. I am starting to believe that since this calamity struck more and more of....us, are coming about. A strange thing to ponder."
  76. Anuman_Davi "According to some legends, It is suppose for Mortal to inherit God-like gifts. The causes of these gifts is a mystery, Some say it is inheritance of divine blood, other says an omen of things to comes by mystic forces."
  77. Isolde_Argyris "So...you have no answers, then? Well, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised."
  78. GOD (BURRRRRRRRRN)
  79. Zoltan "Try and understand, we are grasping at smoke here, what exactly are you looking for?"
  80. Anuman_Davi "The knowledge is based on stories, legends, and old poems so information on this subject is very limited because of..." Davi collapses from the exhaustion.
  81. Kyrios "We must create meaning, whatever the cause for these... gifts. What matters is what sort of world we shape with them. At the hands of unthinking barbarians, it is a dreadful thought to ponder what these powers can do. But an enlightened group of quadi-deities can begin to rebuild civilization."
  82. Isolde_Argyris "Anything. Anything that'll help put my life back together. Anything that could tell me how to BEAT someone like me. You see, I'm not the only...gifted individual in my villages. There is another. A Peskanavian. He tried to raze my village." The words contort her mouth like they taste bitter. The hatred about her is palpable.
  83. Kyrios "Raiders? With powers such as these?"
  84. Kyrios shakes his head in concern
  85. Isolde_Argyris stands up from her seat and begins to pace, her rough sandals clapping against the floor. "Yes. He was powerful man, too. He usurped rulership of his tribe. Their depredations will only grow, I think."
  86. Zoltan "I have heard of these Peskanavians, a band of dirty savages who have been known to eat infants and...try to mate with their own horses." He has a disgusted look on his face. "I'm surprised Periclosios was able to write about them some decades ago."
  87. Anuman_Davi snores.
  88. Kyrios "Civilization is just a hatchling now... fighting for rebirth. I will not let it fall, that I swear to you young Isolde. How far is your village?"
  89. Isolde_Argyris struts behind Anuman's chair and gives it a swift kick, one strong enough to buckle it out from underneath him. "A week's travel from here, on foot. If you could destroy the Peskanavians, you would be freeing my people from an eternity of depredation. We would be in debt to you, m'lord."
  90. Anuman_Davi falls down and says "Uncle, I am awake. I am awake!"
  91. Zoltan "Isolde!" He says in a scolding tone, "is that how you treat your hosts?"
  92. GOD (OOOOOOOHHHHHHH)
  93. Anuman_Davi looked confused for a moment. "Where am I?... Oh, right."
  94. Isolde_Argyris "Only when they sleep during an audience. I have no patience for louts."
  95. Zoltan "I apologize for my friend's lax attitude, but you must understand he has been working non-stop to help rebuild this city, you'll notice the walls outside still stand, thanks to his effort." He frowns.
  96. GOD (Check your not-sleeping privilege, Isolde!)
  97. GOD Half a week later:
  98. GOD -----
  99. GOD A week later: Samael and horde show up
  100. GOD They are arrayed before the walls. However, they lack any siege equipment. Or infantry.
  101. GOD It's just, like, 1000 horsemen.
  102. Samael sits staring at the wall, planning
  103. Zoltan looks down at the horde, from atop the wall. He clings to his staff, a look of worry plastered on his face. He mutters to himself, in thought.
  104. Kyrios "Damosios!" Kyrios calls for the head of the Agathean Guardians.
  105. Samael "COME OUT HERE YOU COWARDS." he shouts at a earsplitting volume
  106. GOD Several of the guards snicker
  107. Anuman_Davi investigates the commission near the gate.
  108. Zoltan Realizing that he and his fellows and tribes are, for the most part, safe behind the walls, clears his throat.
  109. Zoltan "Who are you to scream at the wall of this city?"
  110. Zoltan He sort of yells, but not as loud of Samael.
  111. Samael is drenched in burning oil, angrily he pulls out his bow and takes aim at the guards
  112. Zoltan watches the barbarian nearly drown in burning oil. He has a look of disgust as he watches.
  113. Isolde_Argyris Hearing the commotion, Isolde rushes for the walls. She doesn't take the stairs, choosing instead to run straight up the earthen barrier at a sprint. After this incredible feat of agility, she leaps to the lip of the wall and stares at the Peskanavian horde. Anger, hot and insistent, begins to course through her veins.
  114. Isolde_Argyris "Even here they follow me! A POX ON YOUR TRIBE, YOU ACCUSRED FIENDS!"
  115. Anuman_Davi climbs up the walls of the gate to see the invading Horde.
  116. Anuman_Davi "Well... we have company."
  117. Kyrios paces along the wall, the head of the Agathean Guardians by his side. Damosios and he talk about the perceived ineptitude of the attempt at a siege.
  118. Samael looses the arrow and domes one of the guards, before turning to Zoltan
  119. Samael "I... AM SAMAEl." he growls at the man "Surrender yourselves and we will spare you, or I will come in and take what you want."
  120. GOD The barbarians syntax is terrible
  121. Kyrios comes to a stop on a segment of the wall just above the aggressor barbarian, and calmly looks down at him.
  122. Isolde_Argyris knocks a crenallation right off the wall with a single enraged blow. "It's him," She hisses.
  123. Zoltan "We have suffered at the hands of raiders before, I will not allow another band of barbarians to destroy what we have left. Begone, savage!" He sweeps his staff dramatically as he says this.
  124. Kyrios "We have supplies enough to forever outlast whatever provisions your camp could ever possibly hold. We will die of old age before we surrender," he projects his voice down.
  125. Samael turns and strides back to his camp
  126. Kyrios "Halt, Barbarian!"
  127. Isolde_Argyris joins the other Godbound, huffing and puffing, nearly frothing at the mouth. "It's him!" She growls. "It's their king. The one who attacked my village!"
  128. Samael continues, calling for a shovel
  129. Isolde_Argyris "I'm going down there," She says, filled with grim resolve. "I won't make the same mistake I did last time. I'm going to kill. Them. All!"
  130. Kyrios "Wait, Isolde."
  131. Kyrios "You say he's their king. If I know anything about barbarians, it is that their leadership is narrow. The mortals among them needn't be annihilated, simply subdued. Able bodies useful to rebuilding."
  132. Kyrios "Defeat their king. I will sway the rest."
  133. GOD Vines ensnare the majority of the horses of the horde
  134. Isolde_Argyris spits, snarling in rage...but relents. "You had better be telling the truth."
  135. Zoltan The healer feels an anger overwhelm him, a memory of the cataclysm wells up in his mind. He focuses his efforts, and feels the very plants leap to his command. He watches as the wild grasses that the enemy tribe and their horses stand in wraps and constrain the very horses the warriors ride on. He is amazed at this, he did not know that he could make the very plants leap at his command.
  136. Zoltan "Fascinating," he rubs his chin in excitement.
  137. Kyrios "Earth herself bends to your will, Zoltan," Kyrios says with a smile forming on his face.
  138. Zoltan "I guess I have a few surprises myself, Kyrios, what other secrets do my new powers hold for me, or for any of us?"
  139. Kyrios "I suspect this will be a test of our gifts," he nods.
  140. GOD A guard lazily starts shooting arrows into the horde
  141. Samael shoots back
  142. Isolde_Argyris "That was indeed impressive, but they are not broken yet. Leave the thinking for later."
  143. GOD The horde slowly begins to break, clawing their way through the grass till they reach the edge of the effect
  144. GOD They stand there, sadly staring at their horses
  145. Samael calls for all the animals in the general region to attack the city and harass the defenders relentlessly
  146. Samael also calls for a large swarm of mice to chew out the horses
  147. Samael Commands the horses to calm themselves and try to eat themselves out of the vines
  148. GOD Rats swarm up the walls and onto the defenders, moles and badgers tunnel beneath the walls, birds and flying insects swarm the citizens, termites, spiders, ants, all manner of horrible crawling things, all swarming within the city
  149. GOD Whales beach themselves in the harbor, confusing and exciting the citizens. They immediately begin to make strange whale noises
  150. Anuman_Davi starts casting and preparing Kiss of the Crane.
  151. Zoltan "Strange....does he control animals...?"
  152. Samael " I AM THE KING OF THESE LANDS AND IT'S BEASTS SERVE ME!"
  153. GOD The horses begin to move away through the grass
  154. Isolde_Argyris scratches her chin, her eyes following the myriad animals invading the city. "He'll have to do better than this if he wants to stop me."
  155. GOD A blade flies out from the walls, striking Samael
  156. Zoltan "Barbarians." He mutters to himself. "Did you encounter such peoples in your travels, Kyrios?"
  157. Kyrios "Aligned with traitors from withing, they brought the ruin of Agathos, in fact."
  158. Anuman_Davi "I think that spell didn't do much."
  159. GOD (OOOOOOHHHHH)
  160. GOD (SPELL BURN)
  161. Isolde_Argyris "I should go down and finish the job, then."
  162. Zoltan "Not this time." He promises to himself and to everyone within the city.
  163. Samael calls off the attack, seemingly having a new idea
  164. Zoltan "Can you beat this savage?" He asks Isolde.
  165. Samael takes a white cloth from a nearby horse and talks forward, holding it
  166. GOD The animals leave, as strangely as they came
  167. Isolde_Argyris "What is this...? A trick?"
  168. Kyrios "Perhaps they're not as inane as we thought," Kyrios says, making his way towards the gate.
  169. Zoltan "He does not seem like the type for surrender, or negotiations."
  170. Samael strides right up to the gate and knocks
  171. GOD (amway calling!)
  172. Zoltan "I'll remain up here." He continues to look out over the wall.
  173. Isolde_Argyris hops off the wall, guiding her fall down the verticle surface until she hits the dirt with a thud. Thanks to her powers, she is unharmed.
  174. Samael gives her a sideways glance, before ignoring her
  175. Kyrios Kyrios reaches the gate, coming to a stop just behind it.
  176. Samael "I mean you no harm...." he says, the words seem to come out painfully
  177. Kyrios "Patience, Isolde," he comments in a tone just loud enough for her to hear.
  178. Samael "You must understand that this is not the usual way of my people."
  179. Kyrios "Speak, and join a new world with new ways."
  180. Samael "We need craftsman."
  181. Samael he says this like a command, rather than a plea
  182. Samael MEN
  183. Isolde_Argyris "You...YOU! You have a lot of nerve to make such requests, you bastard!"
  184. Samael "Hush."
  185. Kyrios hold a hand up, urging patience.
  186. Kyrios "And we need warriors."
  187. Isolde_Argyris ignores both men and gets in Samael's face. "Hush me again, barbarian."
  188. Samael "Obviously."
  189. Isolde_Argyris "I. Dare. You."
  190. Samael His chest heaves and he straightens himself, but then relaxes and returns his attention to Kyrios
  191. Anuman_Davi asks Kyrios "What does he need skilled labor for?"
  192. Kyrios "You are proud, I can see that. Your gifts give you power beyond any of your fellows. But if it is craftsmen you seek, then you also have a vision far beyond that of your people."
  193. Isolde_Argyris Not wanting to be the one to throw the first punch, Isolde relents. "He simply seeks more efficient means to oppress my kith and kin!"
  194. Samael "We will not bow to any of you, but we cannot sustain forever like this."
  195. Kyrios "There are healers, here, craftsmen, people of many trades. And you have warriors. Fierce and dutiful. I know somewhere in there, you understand that there is a natural order that can form from our differences."
  196. Isolde_Argyris "You can't be serious, m'lord! You are courting a monster!"
  197. Samael "I demand a section of the city far from other inhabitants."
  198. Samael "And pasture for our horses."
  199. Kyrios "You will demand nothing. We will do no such thing in return. Instead, we will stand as equals. That is my proposal. An invitation for us to speak, and decide on matters as one. We all posses gifts," Kyrios looks around to the mortals in the city, and those beyond the wall, "gifts which also burden us with the responsibility to better the lives of our peoples."
  200. Samael "I will not have my people share bed with the weak." he snarls
  201. Anuman_Davi whispers to Kyrios "The separation might be good at first. If his people and the 'townsfolk' doesn't speak or interact, it might create contempt for each other."
  202. Kyrios "The city is vast, and largely empty. Entire districts are but awaiting new arrivals to habitate them, and bring life within our walls."
  203. Samael "Walls...." he says to himself, before walking to the wall and laying his hands on it
  204. Samael "This is different....Strange."
  205. Samael looks back at his camp "They won't like it."
  206. Anuman_Davi "It might be as glorious as it once was, but it does its job."
  207. Kyrios "It is progress. You know this to be true. A new pace of life, yet preserving your own traditions. There are fields just outside, empty."
  208. Isolde_Argyris sulks, hanging back and putting some distance between her and the Peskanavian.
  209. Isolde_Argyris "You would offer all of these things to his people rather than a more deserving one? Like, say, mine?"
  210. Kyrios "Only Zoltan and his people are natives to this city. We understand the challenges of bringing different people together. We have craftsmen, sure, but you have warriors. Isolde has people with a knowledge of agriculture. I know you can see what I see. The strength in unity."
  211. Samael "The Mockthonians make good tools and work hard, they would be...Helpful?"
  212. Kyrios "Even you, barbarian, have seen the dangers in the world. Dangers beyond your own fierce nature. Sustainability is what we all need."
  213. Isolde_Argyris "My people are not tools you disgusting cur!"
  214. Isolde_Argyris stomps her feet hard enough to leave a noticable dent.
  215. Samael "Make, as in create."
  216. Samael "I will gather my people, leave the gate open."
  217. Kyrios nods to the guards
  218. Samael nods to Kyrios before turning and walking back to his people
  219. GOD +2 xp for fucking everyone
  220. GOD Fucking awesome
  221. Zoltan watches man leave, and after a short while rejoins Kyrios and Anuman.
  222. Isolde_Argyris "I can't believe this. Is anybody listening to me? Ah, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, I *am* a Mochthonian, right? We are less than dirt to you people, even now..."
  223. GOD A passing guard pats your shoulder
  224. Kyrios "Your people will receive the same welcome, Isolde. There are fields to be tended, their knowledge of agriculture and animal husbandry essential."
  225. Zoltan "So?" He asks Kyrios.
  226. GOD "Cheer up, dirt-lady; not too many people died today"
  227. Isolde_Argyris shoves the guard hard enough to put him several feet away from her. "My people will be citizens, no servants, and not slaves. Promise me this."
  228. Kyrios "They will be equals. Agathean tradition compels me so guarantee their status as such. I so promise."
  229. Kyrios to*
  230. Isolde_Argyris nods. "The Mochthonians are still a disparate people. I will have to unite them first."
  231. Kyrios turns to Zoltan. "They will join us. I'm sure integration won't be easy, but they bring warrior traditions we do not have. I have welcomed their king to our council. I hope Isolde will accept the same, bringing her people to us."
  232. Isolde_Argyris slides inbetween the two men, her fist raised in anger. "My people are meek, and they will bow. *I* take issue with sharing a bed with those peskanavian fiends."
  233. Zoltan "Interesting. I should hope he will see reason. You, as well, Isolde. I would agree with you about how to treat that barbarian, but we will need all the..."
  234. Zoltan He pauses in thought, "what would we call ourselves, we are not gods, yet our powers suggest we have small powers that are somewhat godlike."
  235. GOD The Palace, The barracks, the farms, and the craftsmen's district were all restored, by the power of the new, godlike consuls. They did it as such:
  236. Zoltan With the combined words of Knowledge, Health, and Fertility, Zoltan with the god-council, works towards restoring certain districts of the city. Zoltan and Kyrios develop a super food that strengthens workers, allowing those who eat the ability work long hours, days even, something akin to what Isolde has in her own powers. Zoltan and Anuman put their heads together and plan the most...
  237. Zoltan ...efficient ways to direct the repairs and revisions of the districts to be rebuilt. Zoltan puts forth what knowledge he has to heal the salted fields.
