Magical Burst Session 1: School is fun!

[20:45] <@Downystram> Feburary the 12th in the town of Uenohara: It's a small sleepy town that's close enough to the city to not be completely in the middle of nowhere. You're all attending Miharu High for reasons. It's the beginning of the lesson just before lunch and usually your home room teacher Ayaka Natsuko takes this lesson. It appears that today she's at a record 10 minutes late to class and the other students are just lazing around.
[20:47] * Ophelia is sitting at her desk, paging through the workbook ahead of time and muttering something indistinct and vaguely french to herself under her breath.
[20:47] * _Chiyo sits back in her chair, reading a small book she found while snooping around town one day. She looks up, seeing the clock and shakes her head, smiling to herself. "Hmm, Sensei's late again."
[20:48] <_Chiyo> She turns for a moment to look out of the window. "I wonder if she got lost again..." she mumbles absently, enjoying the view of the school grounds.
[20:48] <_Chiyo> She tilts her head, placing the book face down onto the desk as she surveys the classroom.
[20:48] * Tsumiki looks out the window, bored.
[20:50] <_Chiyo> She grins slightly as she hears something from the exchange student's desk. She studies the girl, wondering if she was frustrated with something to be working ahead before the teacher even arrives.
[20:51] * Midoriha glares at the transfer student, annoyed by her incoherent mumbling but holding back her words because starting a fight would not be graceful
[20:52] <Ophelia> "...japonais est un langue infernal..."
[20:53] <_Chiyo> She looks around the classroom once more, taking in the contented murmerings so unique to a classroom with no teacher in it... and then stands up, coming over to Ran-chan's desk. "Ohayo, Ran-chan," she says with a grin. "Do you know where Natsuko-sensei is?"
[20:54] * Tsumiki glances at Chiyo, before resuming my window watching.
[20:54] <_Chiyo> She looks over at the wall clock again, giggling. "This is pretty late, even for her. She's gonna get in trouble with the principal again, ehehe."
[20:54] * Midoriha gives a small derisive laugh while quietly saying to herself "It's easy, it's nothing but your small foreign brain who can't handle it"
[20:55] <Ophelia> It's probably for the best that Ophelia isn't listening too hard.
[20:55] <@Downystram> Ran fiddles with her hat. "Nope! But I'm sure she'll arrive any second now! I mean I am the class genius." Ran grins and nearby students have to steady themselves from dying of laughter.
[20:56] * Tsumiki is now known as Tsumugi
[20:57] * Tsumugi glances at Ran, who apparently said something funny?
[20:57] * Tsumugi wasn't paying attention, though.
[20:58] * Midoriha can't stand the classroom noise anymore and decided to go search for Ayaka. She grabs Tsumugi, the first person she saw, by her arm while saying "Help me me to go search for Ayaka"
[20:58] * _Chiyo chuckles and then gives Ran a pat on the head. "Hehe, oh you." She catches sight of a girl on the other side of the class looking towards the two of them and raises a hand, smiling in greeting. "Ohayou Tsumugi-san. Long night last night? You look pretty tired."
[20:59] <Ophelia> "Has she ever been this late?" Ophelia finally looks up.
[20:59] * Tsumugi lets out a shout of surprised as she's dragged along by Midoriha.
[20:59] <Tsumugi> "Um, I wouldn't even know where to start looking..."
[21:00] <@Downystram> Eventually the door to the classroom swings open and your teacher finally scurries in. In her rush she trips over and falls behind her desk, appearing once again a few moments later with a nervous laugh. "Ehehehe...am I late?"
[21:00] <Ophelia> "Oui."
[21:00] <Midoriha> "It's fine, I just don't want to go alo-" "Oh, there she is"
[21:01] * Tsumugi hurries back to her seat, nodding to Midoriha.
[21:01] * _Chiyo chuckles as Midoriha-san drags Tsumugi out of the class- only as the door opens to reveal Natsuko-sensei. "Welp, gotta get back to my seat. See you in a bit, Ran-chan." She waves and scurries back.
[21:01] <@Downystram> Ran slams her fist into her desk a little too hard. "Aha! I told you she would arrive any second now!"
[21:02] * Midoriha says "About time you are here, Ayaka" "You just set a new record" while going back to her seat, while also looking at Tsugumi with a curious gaze
[21:03] <_Chiyo> She calls over her shoulder to Ran. "Haha, as expected of you, Ran-chan." She shakes her head, wondering where the girl got all that energy from as she takes her seat, looking up to Natsuko-sensei as the Midoriha-san speaks up. She leans backwards, listening curiously.
[21:05] * Tsumugi jumps from her seat a bit when Ran hits the desk, before settling back down and doing her best not to stand out too much.
[21:05] <@Downystram> Ayaka tugs at her collar. "Sorry! It's just that I was robbed on the way here." The class goes more silent than usual and some of the boys who think themselves jrpg protags get SUPER SERIOUS faces.
[21:05] * _Chiyo sits up straight, her expression mirroring those same boys.
[21:05] * Ophelia 's eyebrows raise slightly.
[21:06] <_Chiyo> "Robbed? Sensei, did you get hurt? Did you report it? Who'd do such a thing!"
[21:06] * Tsumugi stares in disbelief.
[21:07] * Midoriha ([email protected]) Quit ( Quit: Leaving )
[21:08] * Midoriha ([email protected]) has joined #Miharuhigh
[21:08] * Midoriha puts on a scary scowl
[21:09] <Midoriha> "How did it happen, Ayako?" "Are you okay?" "Did they hurt you?"
[21:09] <@Downystram> "I know it's terrible! Why would a fox steal my lunch?!" Ayaka throws her arms up in defeat and the sound of a boy slamming his head into a desk rings through the class. Ran almost falls out of her chair laughing.
[21:10] * Ophelia tries to at least pretend to look surprised. Nope, that seems about right. At least she won't have to mention this, ah, 'robbery' to her father...
[21:10] * Tsumugi simply puts her head on her desk.
[21:11] * _Chiyo shakes her head in confusion. "Fox...? Sensei, er... ah, no no, nevermind." She grins in defeat, knowing that pursuing this would be a lost cause.
[21:12] <_Chiyo> She looks over to Midoriha-san, smiling approvingly at her reaction to something so ostensibly serious and wondering what kind of person she was.
[21:13] * Midoriha quickly goes over to Ayaka's table and starts pinching her cheeks while saying "How dare you make us worry about you like this?!" while putting on a scary face while secretly feeling nothing but relief that it was nothing serious
[21:13] <@Downystram> Ayaka flails. "Hey quit it! I'm sorry! AND ALSO A TEACHER."
[21:14] <Ophelia> "Putting salt on the teacher?" She probably meant to say 'assaulting'.
[21:14] <Midoriha> "You are also a dummy"
[21:15] * Midoriha stops while slightly blushing and saying "Be more careful from now on, don't worry your students like this again"
[21:15] * Midoriha goes back to her seat
[21:15] <_Chiyo> "Ah-" Chiyo crosses her arms and chuckles quietly at their antics. "It's always like this in Natsuko-sensei's class," she mentions to the transfer student, explaining. "She's kind of an airhead."
[21:16] <_Chiyo> She doesn't mention the wrong use of Japanese, overlooking it rather than getting into it. She wasn't sure how to explain grammar...
[21:17] <Ophelia> "You don't say. In my country, such things are not happening."
[21:18] * Tsumugi wonders what kind of teachers they have in,,, France?
[21:18] <@Downystram> Ayaka sighs. "Well I suppose I should teach you things!" And then she began to do JUST THAT. The lesson continues as it normally does for the most part. This day is special though. You each recieve a note from a secret admirer who wishes to meet you on the roof at lunch. The handwriting is TERRIBLE and the colour of the crayon it was obviously written in changes almost every few words. You're not entirely sure what Ayaka is meant to be teaching today but it seems to cross multiple subjects as she forgot her bag at home again.
[21:18] <_Chiyo> "Really, never? Hmm, I suppose maybe this class is a bit of an exception, but..." She looks towards the front of the class. "Sensei is nice, even if she tends to be a bit on the weird side, hehe."
[21:19] <@Downystram> You'renot entirely sure what Ayaka is meant to be teaching today but it seems to cross multiple subjects as she forgot her bag at home again.
[21:20] <_Chiyo> "Ah, time to get started. Good luck, Transferstudent-san." She pulls out her notebook and begins to take notes as best she can make sense of it.
[21:20] * Ophelia staaaares at the note, trying to decipher it.
[21:20] * Tsumugi looks at the note, trembling a bit. What is this, a blackmail letter? She looks around, wondering if anyone else got one.
[21:21] * _Chiyo frowns at the lesson on the board, wondering how Natsuko-sensei passed highschool.
[21:22] <_Chiyo> She looks at the note, unfolding it and wondering where it came from and why it was in her desk. She whispers, squinting at it. "What... meet me on t-the roof?" Her cheeks go a bit crimson.
[21:22] * Midoriha looks at the note in complete confusion but also noticing Tsumugi's trembling. She leans a bit closer to ask her what is wrong but stops when she notices she also got one of those weirdo notes
[21:23] <_Chiyo> She closes the note, stashing it into her pocket and looking at her notebook.
[21:23] * Ophelia will wait until class nears its end to ask, say, Chiyo, just what the damned thing says, as she can't make heads or tails of it.
[21:24] * Tsumugi notices Midoriha standing behind her, staring at the note in her hand. "Um... did you get one of these too?"
[21:25] * Midoriha answers to Tsumugi "Yeah... This is no normal secret admiror... Otherwise why would the two of us get the same note...? I mean, we are not exactly close or anything..."
[21:25] <_Chiyo> She gazes around the class, wondering if someone here left it for her... Near the end of class when the transfer student approaches her, she looks up from her reverie. "Hmm? Oh, you got one to- wait, what... this is pretty much the same handwriting as the one I got... and huh... it's really bad, come to think of it..."
[21:26] <_Chiyo> "What sort of admirer puts so little effort into appearances?" She squints down, comparing the two. "It's a love letter... supposedly. It says we should meet the person on the roof."
[21:26] <Midoriha> "This is weird... It's probably a pervert or something... You'd do better to not go meet this person
[21:26] <_Chiyo> She hands the letter back to Ophelia. "It's a bit suspicious... but I /am/ curious."
[21:26] <Ophelia> "The sort of person who sends love letters to two girls in the same class?" Ophelia tches. "L'amour is not there! It is a sham at best."
[21:27] * Tsumugi looks at the note again, and turns back to Midoriha. "Yeah, I got the same idea too..."
[21:27] <_Chiyo> "It's probably someone playing a weak prank, yeah." She puts a hand to her chin, then grins up at the other girl. "You want to try and catch out the fiend before he breaks some poor girl's heart?"
[21:28] <_Chiyo> "I don't like it when girl's hearts are broken."
[21:28] <Ophelia> "I don't particularly care for that, but yes, let's have him explain himself."
[21:29] <@Downystram> Ayaka finishes writing on the blackboard for a second and spins back round to face the class. "Annnnd that's how you pilot a submarine! Any questions?"
[21:30] * _Chiyo blinks at the lesson's conclusion. "Wait... that was what we were learning?" She looks around in confusion. "I thought it was about ocean bacteria..."
[21:30] * Midoriha sighs at Ayaka's lesson
[21:30] <Ophelia> "It was. At one point."
[21:31] <Ophelia> "At least this time, a connection can be made, oui?"
[21:32] * _Chiyo grins to Ophelia. "Ah, I just hope this isn't in the test... So, we'll check out the roof? Hm... I wonder if anyone else got one as well."
[21:33] <Ophelia> "I don't think even our saboteur de l'amour would be dumb enough to send one to the entire clas..."
[21:33] * Midoriha hears what Chiyo and Ophelia are saying
[21:33] * _Chiyo looks about the class, wondering if this means the lesson was over. "It would be a pretty stupid move... though with that handwriting we can't be too sure we're not dealing with a grade schooler."
[21:34] <Midoriha> "Wait, you two got a strange note too? I got one too, and so did Tsugumi..."
[21:34] * Tsumugi turns to the others. "Yeah..."
[21:34] <Ophelia> "Grade schooler or not..." Ophelia scowls.
[21:34] * _Chiyo tilts her head to them, surprised. "You two, too, Midoriha-san, Tsumugi-san...?|
[21:35] <_Chiyo> "*
[21:35] <_Chiyo> she frowns, scratching the back of her head... "I'm curious..." She looks to the front of the class. "Sensei~? Is the lesson over?"
[21:36] <@Downystram> "Over? I wonder..." Ayaka stares intently at the clock until the second the lesson ends and quickly scurries away again.. "YESIT'SOVEROKLUNCHTIMEI'MGOINGTOTHESTOREBYE."
[21:37] * Midoriha sighs at Ayako's shameful behaviour
[21:37] <Midoriha> "How unladylike..."
[21:37] * Midoriha looks back at Chiyo and Ophelia
[21:37] * _Chiyo watches as she veritably zooms out of the classroom, scratching her head again. "Aaaah..." She calls out after her. "No running in the halls, Sensei!"
[21:38] <_Chiyo> She lowers her hand and resumes her seat proper, leaning back a little and regarding the others. "So... this prankster thinks he can just toy with people's emotions, huh..."
[21:38] <Midoriha> "Yeah, each of us got a weird note too"
[21:39] * _Chiyo nods, then proclaims: "I'm going up there. Whoever did this should be told plainly that it is rude."
[21:39] <Ophelia> "I admit to some curiosity, at least." Ophelia doesn't shrug, since she is a lady, but she moves to follow Chiyo.
[21:40] * Tsumugi looks at Chiyo and Ophelia. "Are you sure that you should go? This is kind of creepy, maybe we should tell a teacher..."
[21:40] <Midoriha> "They all are eating right now, they won't have time to deal with us students"
[21:40] <Ophelia> "Why call a teacher to deal with a child?"
[21:41] <Midoriha> "What will you do, Tsumugi?" "I'm going to go with them, I'll give this pervert what he deserves but you'd probably would prefer to stay here"
[21:42] * _Chiyo looks between Kirei and Tsumugi, smiling confidently. "Don't worry, it'll be on the roof, so it's not like it'll be in a dark alley or something after school. And if it's all four of us there's no reason to be afraid." She looks at Tsumugi-san, curious as to her answer.
[21:43] * Tsumugi looks at everyone else and sighs. "I guess that if the rest of you are going too, it'll be safer..."
[21:44] * _Chiyo smiles warmly after the sigh. "Don't worry, Tsumugi-san... I won't let anything happen to you."
[21:44] <Ophelia> "You do not have to go, of course."
[21:44] * _Chiyo nods to that as well.
[21:45] <_Chiyo> She then presses her hands onto the sides of her desk and pushes herself into her full height. "I just want to get to the bottom of this." She mumbles something about false hope.
[21:46] * Tsumugi nods to the others and stands up.
[21:46] <@Downystram> Ran has taken to having swordfights with some of the other students using rulers. Ran Risk Level is currently at 2.
[21:46] * Ophelia glances over at Ran's technique with a critical eye for a few moments before looking away, bored. "Let's go."
[21:47] <_Chiyo> "Midoriha-san, did yours have terrible handwriting as well in alternating colours?" She says as she begins to siphon out of the classroom. She looks over towards Ran-chan, but thinks better of disturbing her when she seems to be having fun. She smiles before leaving out into the corridors and looking back to the others over her shoulder as they head for the roof.
[21:47] <Midoriha> "Let's go then" "Don't worry Tsumugi, I won't let anything happen to you"
[21:48] * _Chiyo smiles at Midoriha-san's words, still trying to make up her mind about the girl
[21:48] * Ophelia follows!
[21:48] * Tsumugi nods to Midoriha and follows the others.
[21:49] <@Downystram> And so they went.
[21:49] <@Downystram> I'm sure you all know what the roof of a japanese school looks like. Little SQUARE BLOCK for where the stairs are and railings so you don't fall to a horrible death unless you really want too.
[21:49] * _Chiyo climbs the stairs towards the roof, pushing open the door and peeking out when they do reach it. She puts a finger to her mouth. "Let's try and not let them know we're coming."
[21:50] * Ophelia nods.
[21:51] * _Chiyo 's footfalls do make a bit of a noise, though, despite her trying to be quiet.
[21:52] <_Chiyo> "Hmm... I don't see anyone yet..."
[21:52] <@Downystram> As you have a sneaky peeky out onto the roof you see that there is no one in plain sight.
[21:53] <Ophelia> "Perhaps we could sequester ourselves on the roof and wait?"
[21:53] <@Downystram> Chiyo spots a soda can roll into view from around the stairwell. It's empty but has weird tooth marks in it like something was trying to eat the can itself.
[21:54] * _Chiyo nods, opening the door some more and stepping out onto the roof itself. "Good idea, Transfer Student- ah... wait, what on earth is this...?"
[21:54] <Ophelia> "I do have a name," Ophelia grumbles.
[21:55] * _Chiyo points to the can on the floor- only to look up at the other girl apologetically. "Aaah, right, gomen. Ou-... Ouferia-san? Ah, French is hard."
[21:55] <Ophelia> "Close enough."
[21:55] <Midoriha> "It's probably impossible to say, you foreign people have strange names. Calling you transfer student is easier"
[21:56] * Tsumugi follows the others, doing her best to be as silent as possible.
[21:56] * _Chiyo scratches the back of her head apologetically, forgetting about the can for just the moment. "Ah, maybe we should give her a nickname, then?" She claps her hands lightly together, looking between Tsumugi-san and Midoriha-san.
[21:59] <@Downystram> Zakuro and Midoriha both hear the sounds of something searching through a plastic bag from behind the stairwell. Zakuro also catches a glimpse of something fluffy before it vanishes back around the corner.
[21:59] * Ophelia grumbles.
[21:59] <_Chiyo> "What do you think?" She asks the two of them- oblivious to the strange happenings on the roof.
[22:00] <Midoriha> "It looks empty but I swear I just something moving around" "It was pretty fast, it looked like a fox or something"
[22:01] <Midoriha> "But it's an animal, it can't be our pervert"
[22:01] <Ophelia> "Our lunch thief, perhaps?"
[22:01] <Ophelia> Eyerolllllllll.
[22:02] * _Chiyo blinks in confusion. "Lunch thief? Fox?" She turns around to tilt her head to listen, talking quieter now. "Wait... Natsuko-sensei wasn't making all that up...?"
[22:02] <Ophelia> "Who knows?"
[22:02] * Ophelia steps out onto the roof.
[22:02] * _Chiyo looks around cautiously, wondering what the thing Midoriha-san saw was. "Back here...?"
[22:03] * Midoriha says "I doubt she would lie about that, you know all that goes through her head is food" while also stepping onto the roof
[22:04] * Ophelia looks around for PERVERTS.
[22:04] * Tsumugi does the same, following closely behind Midoriha. "I just hope that it's nothing dangerous..."
[22:05] <@Downystram> As you round the corner where the sound was coming from you spot a THING and it's QUITE A THING INDEED.

[22:06] <Ophelia> "What."
[22:06] <Tsumugi> "...ears."
[22:06] <Midoriha> "...Cosplay?"
[22:06] * Ophelia nudges Chiyo. "Is that one of those animal men perverts the internet told me about?"
[22:06] * _Chiyo raises her hand in surprise and blinks, taking a step back. "Ah- Nani ga sore."
[22:06] <Tsumugi> "cute..."
[22:07] * Tsumugi is split between the urge to hide behind Midoriha and touch THOSE EARS.
[22:07] * _Chiyo shakes her head at Ophelia's words. "Dude I have no idea. Is that... woah, is that real?" She takes a step forwards. "Oooi, you, fox-girl-san. What are you doing hiding up here?"
[22:08] <_Chiyo> She proceeds to attempt to look non threatening and amicable.
[22:08] * Ophelia stands back, putting a few thousand years of European disapproval into a single piercing glare.
[22:09] <@Downystram> The girl takes notice as she's called out and flails her big sleeves in shock. "Gaaaah! Don't sneak up on me like that! And you're all late! I told you to come at lunch time and I've almost eaten everything."
[22:09] * Tsumugi jumps back in surprise, almost falling down. "wha!?"
[22:11] * _Chiyo tries to roll with it. "A-ah, gomen, gomen. Wait a minute..." She points out to the strangely garbed girl in cosplay. "That was you! Those letters!"
[22:11] * Midoriha gets mad and says "So you are the pervert who sent us those weird notes?" "Why are you dressed up like that? "Another one of your weird fetishes, perhaps?"
[22:11] * _Chiyo crosses her arms and stands up straighter. "Yeah, what's the big deal!"
[22:13] <@Downystram> "Dressed up? I'm just wearing clothes!" She puffs her cheeks out in frustration. "I would give you all a bop if I could be bothered to stand up right now!"
[22:14] * Tsumugi watches the mysterious cosplayer puff out her cheeks, her eys sparkling in awe. "So coute..."
[22:14] <Tsumugi> *cute
[22:15] <Ophelia> "Why don't you explain what you called us for?"
[22:15] * _Chiyo crosses her arms and sighs out in disappointment. "Aaah... was it really just a prank after all."
[22:16] <_Chiyo> She leans against the outside of the wall of the stairwell, looking between the other girls and the strangely dressed cosplayer curiously and listening.
[22:17] * Tsumugi finally musters up the courage to say something. "Um, is this an invitation for us to join your cosplay circle or something...?"
[22:17] * _Chiyo 's ears twitch as the quiet girl says something quite interesting. "Oho~? Is that it?"
[22:17] <@Downystram> "Oh right!" The girl clicks her fingers and vanishes in a puff of smoke. She reappears sitting on the railing nearby. "I'm here to make you a deal."
[22:18] * _Chiyo blinks for a moment in surprise, then takes a step back, raising her hand and pointing out. "Ah! W-w-what on earth was that!?"
[22:19] <_Chiyo> "Did you see that!?" She looks between the others. "She just teleported! Please tell me you saw that!"
[22:20] <Ophelia> "A deal?"
[22:20] * Tsumugi is in awe. "wha..."
[22:20] * Midoriha Midoriha puts herself in alert mode, ready for anything "What the hell did you just do?!" "Who are you?!"
[22:22] * _Chiyo stands, ready to run as the hair on the back of her neck stands upright. She got the distinct impression this investigation into a prankster just took a turn into the realm of the utterly strange.
[22:22] <@Downystram> The fox girl beams at you all. "Pretty cool right? How would you like to get magic just like that?"
[22:22] * Tsumugi blinks. "Magic?"
[22:23] <Ophelia> "Lunacy."
[22:24] * Midoriha says "Let's go Tsugumi, I was right. "It was nothing but a weirdo" while also holding her hand and walking away
[22:25] * Midoriha mutters to Tsugumi "It's better to leave now... I have a bad feeling about this..."
[22:25] <@Downystram> "Magic! And don't forget I can grant wiiisheeeesss~" The girl calls out after you.
[22:25] * _Chiyo stands in quiet contemplation as the others say that.
[22:26] <Ophelia> "Wishes?"
[22:26] * Ophelia pauses, looking interested now.
[22:26] <@Downystram> "Wishes!"
[22:26] * Tsumugi looks back as she's being dragged away by Midoriha. "...wishes?"
[22:26] <Ophelia> "Please, explain."
[22:26] <_Chiyo> She crosses her arms, trying to still the beating of her heart. It was strange... This girl was strange. But she doesn't look threatening, at least... "Hmm..."
[22:27] * Midoriha stops after hearing the word wishes
[22:27] <_Chiyo> She looks between the other girls, trying to keep her excitement and curiousity from her face.
[22:27] <Midoriha> "What do you mean with wishes?" "You?" "Granting us wishes? How? Why? That doesn't make any sense in first place."
[22:27] <@Downystram> "I give you all super cool magical powers and you get wishes as a bonus! You do have to do a little work but it's nothing that hard!" She keeps up her big beamy grin.
[22:29] * Midoriha gets a bad feeling from that grin
[22:29] * Tsumugi is a bit suspicious
[22:29] <@Downystram> Chesire cat mode engage.
[22:29] * _Chiyo continues scrutinying the strange girl. "Why...? What's in it for you?" Something felt off.
[22:29] <Midoriha> "Something tells me you are not telling us everything..." "This is starting to sound like a crooked deal"
[22:30] <@Downystram> "It would be boring if everyone in town died! Ha!" She kicks her legs back and forth still keeping up that grin.
[22:30] <Ophelia> "...Do we have to make the wishes right away?"
[22:31] * _Chiyo puts a hand on Ophelia's shoulder. "Woah, hold on there... You actually believe this girl?"
[22:31] <Tsumugi> "Wait, what?  Why would everyone die?"
[22:31] <_Chiyo> She takes a step towards the fox-girl. "And you, don't joke about stuff like that."
[22:31] <Midoriha> "...What do you mean with that? "Explain yourself! Now!"
[22:32] <Ophelia> "If she's lying, what do we lose?"
[22:32] <Ophelia> "And if she's telling the truth..."
[22:32] <_Chiyo> She tries to reach out towards her ears. "That sort of thing isn't funny. And what sort of joke do you think you're playing here, using smoke and mirrors..."
[22:32] * _Chiyo seems very cynical.
[22:32] <@Downystram> "Oh right I knew I forgot something! Have you ever heard reports of people just vanishing and stuff all over the place? That's not kidnappings." She hops up onto her feet balancing on the railing. "It's Youma! They're like spooky monsters that like eating people."
[22:34] * _Chiyo pauses as the girl nimbly moves out of the way, onto the railing no less. She looks up at her incredulously as she toys with the danger of falling. "Reports...?"
[22:36] * Ophelia doesn't watch the news :D
[22:36] <@Downystram> TV IS FOR NERDS
[22:36] <Ophelia> all the tv people talk really fast ;_;
[22:36] <Tsumugi> "I hadn't heard anything like that..."
[22:37] <@Downystram> "Yep! I mean I like eating things too but not people! I bet they taste horrible." She spins on the railing with one leg in the air. "Woop!"
[22:37] * _Chiyo crosses her arms again. "But the police are looking into that... it's not monsters. It can't be... right?"
[22:37] <_Chiyo> She looks between the others for confirmation.
[22:37] <Midoriha> "Me neither, first time I've heard of this"
[22:37] <Midoriha> "Of course it can't be, she's just toying with us" "She's nothing but a weirdo who likes to make fun of people"
[22:38] <Ophelia> "Hm."
[22:38] <_Chiyo> She then turns her attention back up to the fox girl, trying very hard not to imagine her eating a person. She shakes her head gently to clear it of the picture that inevitably forms.
[22:38] <_Chiyo> She nods at Midoriha-san's words. "Right."
[22:40] <@Downystram> "I mean you all seem like nice girls! Don't you wanna go beat up the monsters? You also get another super cool bonus of being able to hang out with me." She laughs while still balancing on one leg.
[22:40] <Ophelia> "That's the biggest deal-breaker I ever heard."
[22:40] <_Chiyo> "But..." Chiyo pauses for a second, studying the ears again. "Any way you cut it, there's a girl wearing really weird cosplay balancing in a really dangerous position right now."
[22:40] <Tsumugi> "Yeah..."
[22:41] * _Chiyo tries for a different tactic. "Um... sorry, let's try this again. What's your name?" She says to the girl, offering her hand to try and help her down or at least catch her if she falls.
[22:42] <_Chiyo> "Won't you please come down from there? You might get hurt. Where are your parents?"
[22:43] <_Chiyo> "Do they know you're out here?"
[22:43] <@Downystram> "I'm Naoki! And I'm not a cosplayer gosh!" She frowns and puts her hands on her hips. "I guess I gotta do something drastic to prove it to you!"
[22:44] <Ophelia> "Sure."
[22:44] <Ophelia> "Why don't you?"
[22:44] * Midoriha gets on guard
[22:44] * _Chiyo raises her hands. "Now, now, let's not do anything rash, here."
[22:44] <_Chiyo> "Just come down from the fence and we can talk about this."
[22:45] * Tsumugi hides behind Midoriha
[22:46] <@Downystram> "I will!" And then she stepped backwards off the railing and began to FALL.
[22:47] <Ophelia> "!"
[22:47] <Ophelia> "Mon Dieu!"
[22:47] <Midoriha> Midoriha stares dumbfounded. Frozen on the spot by the sudden action
[22:47] * Tsumugi runs from behind Midoriha and races towards the edge. "No!"
[22:48] * _Chiyo reaches out, too late, after her foot. "No wait don't-!"
[22:49] <_Chiyo> She watches in rapt fascination as the girl begins to fall, then turns around and starts running for the stairs to the ground floor in what is admittedly something of a panic.
[22:49] <@Downystram> You turn around and almost run face first into Naoki who is right behind you.
[22:50] <@Downystram> "Yo!"
[22:50] * _Chiyo skids to a halt, her eyes wide and her heart racing.
[22:51] <_Chiyo> "You're not.... that wasn't a lie-" realisation dawns and she takes a step or two back as the implications of that set in.
[22:51] <@Downystram> The cries of a man FLIPPING OUT over something ring from the street below. Anyone who peers over will notice him freaking out over his car which has a Naoki shaped imprint in the roof.
[22:51] * _Chiyo turns her head to the call from below, trying to make sense of the situation. She definitely saw her fall.
[22:52] * Ophelia remains frozen where she is, looking completely dumbfounded.
[22:53] * Midoriha tries to say something but the words aren't able to get out
[22:53] * Tsumugi is leaning over the edge, staring at said imprint
[22:54] <_Chiyo> Chiyo shakes her head slightly, looking back at Naoki. Her eyes dart to the door behind her, but she forces herself to remain where she is because of that one thought. If she wasn't lying about this, then... "You're not lying about the monsters?"
[22:55] <@Downystram> "The monster are real and so are my ears and tail!" She rummages around in her BIG SLEEVES for a little while before producing a nice pendant. "You get one of these with the magical powers too! Come on you know you want too!"
[22:55] <Ophelia> "And when do we have to make our wish?"
[22:55] * _Chiyo reaches out a hand carefully to accept the pendant, trying only to get a better look at it.
[22:56] * Tsumugi slowly turns back to face Naoki an the others
[22:56] <_Chiyo> Her eyes flit between it and Naoki when Ophelia speaks behind her.
[22:56] <@Downystram> "Ahahahaha....riiiight...I did mention you have to do a little bit of work." Naoki lets Chiyo take the pendant which changes to whatever mahou colour she wanted. "You gotta beat up monsters to get wishes."
[22:57] <Ophelia> "And the scope of the wishes?"
[22:57] * _Chiyo holds up the pendant to the light, noting the shift to a purple colour that originates deep inside the gem set in the centre, diffusing outwards like dye.
[22:57] <@Downystram> "Anything!"
[22:58] <Ophelia> "Anything?"
[22:58] <@Downystram> "Don't wish for more wishes I'm genre savvy!"
[22:59] <@Downystram> "Other than that you can have anything!" She laughs. "I would wish for like...lots of ice cream or something."
[22:59] <Ophelia> "Hmm. Well. I'm in, I think. If this is a prank, you shall have your fun, oui? And if not, there are things that I could wish for. Mmm."
[22:59] <_Chiyo> She then hands the pendant back to Naoki, her curiousity satisfied in that regard at least. "Why... why us? We're just highschoolers. Shouldn't you go to like... the police? Or the defense force? If you want to save the town?"
[23:00] <@Downystram> "You're special! In a nice way obviously. Not everyone has the potential to learn magic."
[23:00] <_Chiyo> Her expression changes when Ophelia says that and she turns slightly to look at her. "Ophelia-san. Y-you're really going to do this?"
[23:01] <Ophelia> "Of course. It's just like I said."
[23:01] <Ophelia> "I don't mind doing a little work to get what I want."
[23:02] <_Chiyo> She tries to get Naoki to take the pendant back from her, saying: "Here, I've seen it now."
[23:02] <_Chiyo> To Ophelia: "But like... it'll be fighting monsters. Aren't you afraid?"
[23:03] <@Downystram> Naoki takes it back and immediately hands it to Ophelia. "Then you accept the contract?"
[23:04] <Ophelia> "Hm? Why would I be afraid?"
[23:04] <Midoriha> "Because you could die, they are monsters, not bunnies"
[23:05] <_Chiyo> She takes a step back, coming to stand beside Tsumugi and Midoriha. "This is just...- exactly. It's not like we know how to fight monsters!"
[23:05] <Midoriha> "And this kind of deals always have fine print" "Our friend here is not telling us everything, she's just enticing us to do her dirty work, the faster the better for her"
[23:05] <Tsumugi> "Y... yeah.
[23:05] <Midoriha> "Don't be rash, transfer student"
[23:06] <Tsumugi> "this sounds like those deals that the yakuza make."
[23:06] <@Downystram> "Wow you guys are pretty selfish! You're gonna let the monsters just take over the city?" Naoki grins even wider.
[23:07] <Midoriha> "...What do you mean with that?" "You have been telling us about monsters and magic but you haven't gone deeper"
[23:07] * Tsumugi looks down. "This is JUST like the deals that the Yakuza make. Daddy told me that they like to force people into situations where they have no choice but to accept..."
[23:08] * _Chiyo crosses her arms and examines Ophelia critically as Naoki holds the gem out to her. "Well, what use is it gonna be to the city if we just die? Or what, magic is just gonna make us into amazing fighters?"
[23:08] <_Chiyo> Her gaze goes over Tsumugi for a moment, her expression empathetic at the tone of her voice.
[23:08] <@Downystram> "Yeah! That thing you just said." Naoki flails an arm at Chiyo. "The amazing fighters thing not the being dead thing."
[23:09] * _Chiyo tries to grab the flailing arm. "And I'm telling you that's stupid! Magic isn't real!"
[23:09] <Ophelia> "It is just like in your japanese mangas, yes? One gains power, fights monsters."
[23:10] <@Downystram> "I JUST LEAPED OFF A BUILDING AND TELEPORTED BACK UP IT TOTALLY IS!"
[23:10] <Midoriha> "Why aren't you fighting the monsters yourself then?" "Why us?"
[23:10] * Ophelia glances at her watch.
[23:11] <@Downystram> "I uh...don't know how to fight." Naoki chuckles. "And all I can really do with magic is teleport and grant wishes."
[23:11] <Tsumugi> "Yeah, it doesn't make sense to have us do it, if you're able to use magic yourself..."
[23:11] <Tsumugi> ..."eh?"
[23:11] * _Chiyo opens her mouth to shout out that it isn't- but... "Look... you're not convincing me of anything. At the very least I... I want to think about it." She looks again to Ophelia-san. "You're really sure? Ophelia-san, you don't have to do this, I mean... we don't even know what they look like."
[23:12] <Ophelia> "I don't think we're getting anywhere for now, at least, and the lunching hour will end soon, I think."
[23:13] * _Chiyo nods, though she makes note of Naoki's words. "Right, right."
[23:13] <@Downystram> "Oh I'm sure you'll recognise the-I mean ahaha how about that accepting the contract?" Naoki stares intently at Ophelia. "All you gotta do is say yes and take the pendant."
[23:13] <Ophelia> "I should like some time to think about it, I believe."
[23:13] * _Chiyo watches her intently.
[23:14] * _Chiyo breathes out softly, as if relieved.
[23:15] <@Downystram> "Ohoooo? Well I'll keep note of all the people that die while I wait for an answer then! You might even know some of them."
[23:15] * _Chiyo grits her teeth. "Why you little..."
[23:15] <Ophelia> "That doesn't seem particularly likely."
[23:16] <Tsumugi> "It was blackmail after all...'
[23:16] <Midoriha> "...You are bluffing... You just want us to get into the deal the fastest you can..."
[23:17] <@Downystram> "Really? Well I mean I guess you guys can believe what you want. It's your choice after all."
[23:18] * _Chiyo looks back to the others, forcing herself to relax a little. "I'm getting lunch. There's homework I still need to finish off." She tries to walk past Naoki towards the door and then take the stairs down, intending to go to the cafeteria, the thought of everything that just happened mulling around in her head.
[23:18] <Ophelia> "I too, shouldn't make decisions on an empty stomach."
[23:19] <_Chiyo> As she walks in the stairwell she whispers to herself. "Who does she think she is... You can't just conscript someone like that." She pouts a little as she tries not to think about the implications and her insinuations.
[23:20] <@Downystram> "Bye bye mouse!" Naoki waves as Chiyo leaves. "If you need me just call my name and I'll be there!"
[23:20] * _Chiyo pauses midstride.
[23:21] * Midoriha gives a glares at Ophelia with nothing but hatred before calming herself down and looking at Tsumugi
[23:21] <Midoriha> "Let's go Tsumugi..." "The most we can get away from this weirdo the better..." "She's nothing but evil"
[23:21] * Ophelia stares back at Midoriha, looking nonplussed.
[23:21] <_Chiyo> She looks back over her shoulder, her face expressionless but... a hint of fear shining through. She's about to open her mouth to speak, but then turns and walks, almost running.
[23:22] * Tsumugi looks at Naoki, and then turns back to Midoriha. "Yeah... this doesn't sound right."
[23:25] <_Chiyo> She tries to calm herself down. "Coincidence...?" She leans against a wall for a moment, then carries on. "...But... that magic was definitely real." She knew it. She saw it. There was no other explanation. How much else of what she said was real, too? "Would I really become a fighter...?"
[23:25] * Ophelia glances back at Naoki for a second, then heads for the stairs as well.
[23:25] <_Chiyo> She's deep in thought when she passes there classroom, peering inside absently before heading for the cafeteria itself.
[23:26] <_Chiyo> Once there she tries to join the queues for the bread stalls, hoping it didn't all sell out while they were up there. She puts her hands into her skirt pockets absently.
[23:28] <@Downystram> Ran zooms at full speed into the queue knocking over a number of students. "Chiyo! Chiyo! Chiyo! Chiyo! Someone from the class just vanished!"
[23:30] * _Chiyo looks up suddenly, torn from her reverie as Ran bowls into the cafeteria. "W-whoa, whoa, Ran-chan take a breath! What do you mean 'vanished?'"
[23:31] * _Chiyo holds up her hands apologetically to the students Ran bumped into, Naoki's premonition already playing in her mind.
[23:31] * Midoriha hears Ran's words and stop on her tracks, shocked at the sudden news while all that the the fox girl said playing on her head again
[23:31] <@Downystram> "I was just chasing him around outside with a ruler and then poof! He was gone!" Ran jogs on the spot. "Like magic!"
[23:31] <Midoriha> "...It was all real..."
[23:34] * Tsumugi freezes with fear
[23:34] <Ophelia> "Hmm, it looks like it was - but that doesn't answer the question, does it? Whether or not we could actually fight those monsters."
[23:34] * _Chiyo starts at the mention of magic, then her expression goes a bit more solemn as she nods, her eyes closing and her mind making a decision.
[23:35] <_Chiyo> "Who was it?"
