  1. it's been over an hour since i tested some stuff in vtmb and i'm still mad

  7. the idea that you could skip almost all of santa monica and head straight for the dane was pretty interesting. i thought pier level was 2 different levels, one where you first enter it without the boat, and then the same level but named differently that had the boat and the level transition trigger to the dane. i was wrong: the trigger for the dane is there the entire time, and you can actually touch it. however, i can't get inside of it

  9. i spent over an hour trying to recreate the out of bounds in the video above. it never worked. turns out it only works on unofficial patches - how the fuck that ended up being a thing, i really don't know. someone in my chat suggested that it's because the UP restores a sidequest on the pier. i have no idea why that would allow you to go oob like the video above - in the most recent patch (9.6beta) wesp even removed the lamp post right by where the oob is - and you can still get oob. makes no fucking sense

  11. i then tested *if* i could get into the dane's trigger, what that would do to the route. turns out you don't have the downtown map location for the taxi, so you still have to finish the warehouse to unlock the downtown location. so if you can get on the dane early it would save time because you could do the quest when you go get the astrolite on the first mission, complete it, and then likely speak with lacroix, exit, and go right back in and head to grouts. however, if the oob is the only way to get to the trigger, and the oob only works on UP, then i have a really tough call to make, since the UP are slower in general to official 1.2

  18. in the thread about the notes, someone asks about doors not working correctly. in the run, switching fps between 300 and 60 lets you force your way through doors. here is how wesp handled it:

  20. so he fixed it by having everyone play at 92 fps

  23. almost every single fix in UP is just giving things a timer so everything takes longer so things can actually work

  25. they also added an intentional warrens skip for those wanting to skip the sewer. i don't know how much of the warrens it skips, but seems like all of it.

  27. none of this sits well with me even if i do like some of the changes and fixes, such as some textures actually working. but not like it matters. this is the definitive edition that everyone knows and experiences now

  31. i start out saying "found a pretty easy skip" well turns out this is harder than i originally realized. skelter talks to you almost immediately and sometimes even FUCKING BLOCKS YOU BY RUNNING FORWARD it's unreal. this dialogue skip saves maybe a second, so it's nothing to reset over. but go figure a very short time save would actually be somewhat tough to execute
