  1. Entering the room, Aldrah was followed by several undeads, counting with Loretta too, who this time would oversee the work of the necromancer. That was good, at least she would see that he was working and would not bother him any more.
  2.
  3. The other undeads that followed, was carrying several bodies. Warriors of Huang, people of Gehenna, all killed by Aldrah's loyal servants.
  4.
  5. The necromancer went back to the table, bracing himself, while his undead placed two bodies on the table. A woman, from Huang, and a man from Huang. This time, these would be the ones chosen for him to work on.
  6.
  7. But before he started, he had to ask his 'boss' something.
  8.
  9. Calmly he stared at Loretta and said, "Would you like me to explain in more detail what I did last time and how is the process I'm using?" Then he kept silent, waiting for the answer.
  10. (Aldrah)
  11.
  12. While Loretta would question the veracity of these dead that were brought in by servants of the man? She was actually quite happy at seeing him actually putting work in for the first time. This is the actual first time she's seen him do anything for the most part and like the dutiful young Head of Research that she was, pen and paper were produced to accurately take notes as to the work and the progress that he was to undertake. If he could make progress here, then there was a chance this project would not be a complete failure.
  13.
  14. "Please do. Skip no detail and be thorough with your explanations. I must document every single action, visual, synapse and response I can get here."
  15.
  16. And of course while she wasn't a Necromancer, her expertise in medical knowledge would help keep her appraised as to the cause of death of the deceased, the state of decomposition that these bodies were in (if any)and the status of their leylines. Shoving the original soul into a body was one thing. Shoving a soul into an alien body was another. Loretta was very much expecting the effects of the body to reject them and shove them away out of reflex... much like a biological component in the body would to either a foreign contaminant or donation.
  17.
  18. Would it work the same on the dead? Only one way to find out.
  19. (Loretta)
  20.
  21. "Right." Aldrah spoke, snapping at his fingers, before giving the explanation began.
  22.
  23. Something that Loretta could notice was that the bodies were clearly all 'repaired' and she could also notice that they were frozen, preserved in perfect condition.
  24.
  25. Aldrah put his hand on the chest of one of the bodies and began to speak, "As you may know, we have something we call magical circuits in our bodies. Such circuits are something that is portrayed several times within necromancy, since they play a key role in this art. These circuits have direct connection to specific parts of our body, such as the brain. " He gave a little pause, before continue, "But going straight to the point, in necromancy, when we are going to relive a being, we must refill its circuits with mana/energy, because this act 'pulls' the souls back to their bodies. " He stopped and walked over to the blackboard.
  26.
  27. He drew a human body, sort of lying on the floor.
  28.
  29. Aldrah turned to Loretta and said, "That said, we can say that when we die, our body loses the energy in its circuits, that makes the soul leave the body, right? And after we re-fill those circuits with mana, the soul is pulled back to the body. So if we want to manipulate it from one body to another, we must weaken the mana in the circuits, so that the soul is between a half-way out of the body and back into the body. " Aldrah smiled, "Can you understand this mess..?" Hee spoke, staring at Loretta and taking a deep breath.
  30. (Aldrah)
  31.
  32. The fact that Aldrah was speaking to her like a child actually made her frown. She couldn't be infuriated though, for she asked him to be as thorough and as detailed as possible and while this could certainly double as lessons in Necromancy, the prospect of basic human and magi anatomy was something she was very well versed in, as evidenced when the girl floated on over towards the blackboard and began to fill in the human body with greater detail. Organs. Leylines. Their purposes, their standard measurements in medical practice, the prospect of a circuitry being fulfilled from start to bottom and the base premises on how the soul produced the 'mana' and 'energy' that was used and produced by the people.
  33.
  34. "I am well versed in the leylines of the body and the premise of how a soul is anchored. There are multiple types of necromantic shackles and several ways to tie a soul to a leyline. As both living example of it and as having borne witness now to three different ways to anchor the soul to the mortal coil, you can skip the basics of necromancy and move further down the line."
  35.
  36. Of course, this did not stop her from taking down the notes of the bodies and the fact that Aldrah was being kind enough to actually speak off these details. They're still useful in their own right.
  37. (Loretta)
  38.
  39. "Right." He said going to the blackboard.
  40.
  41. He began to draw another body and two lines, one pointing to body number one and one pointing to body number two, each arrow coming out of one of the bodies.
  42.
  43. "If we want to transfer the soul from one body to another, I have to find a way to force them to go to the other body. I know how to keep them in the middle of getting out and staying in the body, but to go to the other body that will be difficult." Aldrah said, putting his hand on his chin.
  44.
  45. In fact, that would be kind of hard, since a soul was usually intertwined with a specific body, but one of the possible ways to change it in body would be forcing.
  46.
  47. "I believe that forcing the soul to go to another body, is the most appropriate, but I think that this can damage the circuits of a body, since each soul is supposed to be interconnected with a specific body." Aldrah nodded to Loretta.
  48. (Aldrah)
  49.
  50. "I am expecting the body to reject the soul by principle alone. Typically, shackling a soul requires tethering to the circuitry in some shape, way or form. If these were magi, I believe that might be more difficult."
  51.
  52. Silence reigns for a moment as she hops on back to resume watch over the necromancer and his work.
  53.
  54. "If you can force the soul and tether it by force, we need to watch the effects. Valmese history shows it's been done before..."
  55.
  56. As it stood, the girl had only the vaguest idea on how this could be achieved, prompting to inspect the body and start lining up the few circuits they could spot on the body per say, jotting down this first guinea pig as thoroughly as she could. The first test subject...
  57.
  58. She even produced some sort of Magitech contraption to start taking a look down at the corpse in greater detail!
  59.
  60. "Start when ready."
  61. (Loretta)
  62.
  63. "Alright, let's get started on this." The necromancer spoke, placing his hand on the head of one of the dead on the table.
  64.
  65. Loretta could easily deduce what he would do, which would revive the body, creating yet another undead.
  66.
  67. And so it was done, Aldrah began to send his energy, steadily and well controlled to the body, where in seconds he opened his eyes, but remained lying on the table.
  68.
  69. "Right, this has been brought back, now we will weaken the bond and then try to transfer the soul from one body to another." Now the tricky part.
  70.
  71. During his time of study and practice of necromancy, Aldrah was able to 'partially' touch the souls as they were coming to they body, kind of forcing them to go at once to the body and thus he being able to relive his target. But the soul only went where it had energy..
  72.
  73. He stood for a moment, thinking, and then an idea came to his mind. If he put only a little energy in the other body and then redirected the soul to that body, maybe he could change the soul from one body to another.
  74.
  75. Then Aldrah placed his right hand on the chest of the body number one and his left hand on the body number two. He began to suck the energy from the body number one, which was what had been made into an undead, weakening the bond and causing the soul to begin to leave the body. Then he began to send energy to the body number two, in a controlled and constant, in small doses. After a while, he stopped and raised his hands up.
  76.
  77. It was time to test his theory.
  78.
  79. Then out of nowhere, he grabbed something in the air. Loretta could not see what was it, but Aldrah did, he had 'grabbed' the soul.
  80.
  81. His eyes remained closed during all the process, this needed some concentration.
  82.
  83. He then slowly began to move his hands in the direction of the body number two. He thought if he redirected the soul, close enough, that soul would be pulled by the circuits of that body and not of his original.
  84.
  85. Slowly he began to feel the soul go to the number two body, apparently it was working!
  86.
  87. Then, when he thought the soul was beginning to go, it went back to its original body..
  88. (Aldrah)
  89.
  90. … odd. A questionable choice to transfer the soul from one end to the next and one that may very well have threatened the man, but it was an attempt nonetheless. Contrary to Aldrah's belief, Loretta could very well see it. She could see the wisps of energy, the near translucent aspects most ethereal of what was the 'soul' as it was grasped and pulled into this body lain on the table. It breathed new life into it. The process of returning regular beings from death back to the realm of the living was never a basic one and even though she had borne witness to three other methods of necromancry prior, this was the most basic one she has seen yet.
  91.
  92. There are no intricacies, no specialties, no unique creative means as employed by Sors, enjoyed by Salvas or even thought like Roanna. There is only the very brazen shackling of a soul being speared from the Lifestream and with a lack of unique control, it yanks it on down into the body to make it stir and move anew.
  93.
  94. But what's this? Aldrah wasn't just charging another body with energy to both ease the process of transfer from one vessel to the next... they were becoming the vessel that'd allow it passage from one side to the other with better ease. It was paving the way for something as volatile as a soul, unshackled and unrestrained that was barely plucked away by his hands and commands as taught by the divines of the Mortem Azrael.
  95.
  96. "... interesting method and execution."
  97.
  98. The girl watched with some trepidation as the continued to write down the process to the best of her abilities, prompting to write down both opinion, fact and idea to further this line of reasoning. Even the soul of the non-magi would prove to be fickle and most likely to fizzle out, but what did she know? She wasn't the Necromancer here. All they could do for now, was keep watching.
  99. (Loretta)
  100.
  101. Fail, but with some success? The theory was basic and would prove to be possible to do with such a method, but Aldrah would need to practice more and test other things before actually doing that process. But it would be another time, all this work had left him tired.
  102.
  103. "Right.. We're done for today. I feel like we're close to succeeding." Aldrah nods to Loretta, "I need to rest, next time we will have a better result, I will prepare more things for the next attempt." The necromancer spoke, snapping his finger and making his undeads begin to tidy the place, picking up the bodies from the table and leaving.
  104.
  105. "See you later." Aldrah yawns.
  106. (Aldrah)
