- +Tim Osman __ HAHAHA that did cross my mind about my comment being too brief - I was pushed for time (and still am!) though I will make up for it now. ))
- There is quite a lot I want to say in reaction to your call. I thought "Dave Johnson" did a good call but he's just a warm up act.
- __
- Mark Sargent IS definitely making a claim: *He is unequivocally asserting that the Earth is most definitely flat!*
- It is dishonest to then phrase this assertion as a QUESTION for example:
- __
- _"Are we inside a Truman show enclosed world, thousands of miles wide? This is part of a series of videos that shows not only is it possible, but likely."_
- __
- That's okay - you can say this and even say it's likely. But he most *definitely* is saying the Earth is categorically flat. That is an assertion.
- Though I *resent* the reasons for bringing up that "NASA" have the so-called "burden of proof" because yes - they do. "NASA" are indeed asserting that they have little men and women who are right at this moment eating, sleeping, sh!tting but not showering inside of a magic floating centabillion dollar zero gravity research facility.
- It's true that "NASA" have NEVER shown us sufficient proof by way of sustained duration genuine zero gravity footage that *upon scrutiny* remains free from _clever cuts, sneaky edits and misdirecting pans._
- All "NASA" have done is offer us the appearances of proof. This FORCES us to trust them (because what they show us at all times CAN be doubted - and that's the point: at all times it's POSSIBLE to doubt what "NASA" does).
- YES - "NASA" show us OUTRAGEOUS CGI animations that purport to be of a spherical Earth from the "ISS". It is OBVIOUS they are animations and not real.
- But that does not mean "NASA" are hiding the shape of the Earth!
- It does not mean that we can assume the Earth is flat because "NASA" have not proven that it is a ball (because their strategy is to give us only the appearances of proof).
- __
- I resent this. And it is THESE THINGS that do make one wonder whether it isn't just a "psyop". But I am not so sure of that. It feels to me to be more a group of vaudevillians (a kind of travelling circus act) who have established themselves on YouTube and are building up tremendous INTEREST in the subject and once *saturation* has been reached (I would say that we're approaching that soon) and will then flood the market with all kinds of merchandise.
- That's not a "government psyop" - it's just a motley crew of people who want to make money without having to break the law. By selling niche flat Earth merchandise.
- Yeah - I'm f_kcing suggesting it: this flat Earth fad is about flat Earth earrings and dinner plates.
- This isn't a "psyop". There are "psyops" going on but this isn't one of them. They would have you think it's a psyop! Because that's good for generating buzz.
- __
- Mark Sargent professes to BELIEVE that the Earth is flat - but a belief that is formed in the absence of sufficient proof is at best unwise and at worst dangerous.
- __
- Strap any self-professed flat Earther to a lie detector test and hold a gun to their head and we'll soon see what "certainty" means.
- __
- How can a person genuinely believe the Earth is flat if one has NEVER seen any sufficient proof? It is no better than professing the Earth is a ball because you saw a "NASA" animation. (There are "ships over the horizon" but that *could* potentially have a "natural" explanation [and thus be proof's appearances] - which I'll be posting about soon.)
- Just because "NASA" can be shown to be sneaky does not automatically mean the Earth is flat. It does not follow that the Earth is flat if "NASA" are lying.
- If a person in the flat Earth community sincerely believes the Earth is flat it is not because they have been convinced by seeing sufficient proof *it can only be that they have been deceived by the appearances of proof or more simply because they WANT it to be true.* (Mark Sargent may well have convinced himself the Earth is flat just to sell dinner plates - that's dedication.)
- __
- There are more shapes than just round and flat. There is cubed - which is also flat! ))
- The point is: it is one thing to explore a belief ("spinning ball Earth").
- *When Mark Sargent fired off those names when rhetorically saying, "is X a shill? is Y a shill? is Z a shill?" I found myself making a note of the names listed.*
- At least one of them may not be a "shill" but instead merely a "useful idiot". ))
- Whenever people are out of their comfort zone and a little rattled that's when you get the good stuff. That's why I wrote that I was impressed. You got to a guy who most people wouldn't be able to get to. You got some truth out of him (though not by way of direct admissions or confessions).
- __
- It is one thing to question the shape of the Earth *but quite another to assert that it is MOST DEFINITELY and UNEQUIVOCALLY flat.* That is most definitely an assertion.
- It *IS* unwise to introduce minors to "conspiracy theories" - though that is a tricky issue because it means the lie system has the monopoly on young minds which is when all of the damage is done. I doubt that 16 year old girl actually believes the Earth is flat. I think she might at some point have plans to flog some flat Earth merchandise. Maybe some flat Earth bracelets.
- __
- The absence of sufficient proof for a claim does not mean its opposite is necessarily true. All we can do is insist that the claim of a spinning ball Earth has not been sufficiently proven (and that any belief in it has been founded on TRUST which is the root of all our problems).
- __
- What I resent is that all of this brings genuine truth seekers into disrepute. *I seek true things for true reasons for that is the only reliable way to arrive at the truth.* And the instant someone asserts something as true *without sufficient proof* then I am cautious.
- __
- Having said all of this - I do like listening to Mark Sargent. Just as I enjoy listening to "Kim Hoaxashian". But I do so with mindfulness and take what I hear with a grain of salt. Having said this I might at some point buy a flat Earth dinner plate.
- (This was quickly typed - oh well. At least I haven't been hacked!)
