Hi. Today, I have prepared a presentation about one of the most popular murderers in history. He was never caught by the police, because his personality was never identified. We don't know, when and where he was born, what was his name, but we know, that he was using a pseudonym - Zodiac. He was on a killing spree in San Francisco in the 1960's and 1970's.
He was acused of the murder of five people, but later on he stated that he's responsible for the murder of 37 people He committed his first murder on the 20 December 1968. His first victims were two high school students. He was the first murderer in history, who used the media
to post his message or description of his crimes. In one of his letters he wrote:
"Students are a nice target"
We can read in his other letters:
I like to kill people, because it's great fun, it's more fun than hunting in the woods for wild animals, because man is the most dangerous of all animals. Killing gives me the most exciting experiences." From all messages, just this one has been perfectly decrypted. In the following letters he officially used the nickname, starting each of the messages "This is the Zodiac speaking..."
Why the pseudonym Zodiak? It probably comes from the name of watch company (Zodiak) whose logo was used by the killer.
Six months later, he striked  again. He killed only one, young person in the car, because the second person survived.
They were in the parking, not far from the place of the previous murder when a car drived to them. Driver didn't turn off the blinding headlights, he got out and with a flashlight came to their car. They thought it was a policeman.
However, the man began to shoot. Thinking that he had killed a young couple, he drove away as if nothing had happened.
At twenty to one  a.m. at the police station the phone rang. A mysterious voice said: "I want to report a double murder.
If you drive the Columbus Parkway one mile east to the national park, you will find kids in a brown car.
I also killed those from last year. Goodbye." Then he hung up.
