- This is a script for a scenario I had considered writing for a while- the aftermath of an argument. It was originally M4F but after writing I realise I had written it as gender neutral so anyone is welcome to use it. Everything is free for interpretation so by all means, miss out sound effects or exchange words to better suit your style.

- -- The entire script is to performed in hushed tones as it is talking to a partner who is asleep --
- Baby? Are you awake?
- *pauses*
- Yeah, of course not. I know you don’t want me anywhere near you but there is no way I am sleeping on that couch. I’ll just come in beside you and if you want to kick me out of bed tomorrow, go for it.
- (optional: rustling and sounds of relaxing as you get into bed)
- You are asleep aren’t you? *pauses*
- Yeah, you’re out of it. *sighs* [concerned] You’ve been crying yourself to sleep. Your eyes and cheeks are all red.
- I know you’re asleep and talking to you now hardly fixes things but maybe if I say something now, my words might subconsciously make their way into that brain. Or something like that. *pauses*
- Yeah you are definitely asleep. You might have tolerated me coming to bed, but you would have already flung insults at me for talking absolute bullshit.
- *yawns*
- This might not get through to you and I will say this all to you tomorrow but here goes.
- I’m sorry. I am truly, truly sorry. I hate nights like these and I’m glad I can count on only one hand the number of nights where one of us has had to sneak into bed after a fight.
- We’re just so… so sure of ourselves. You are just like me in that respect. We could believe the sky is green and, even faced with the most esteemed scientists in the world telling us the sky is blue, we would argue tooth and nail for what we believe, no matter how wrong it is. We just cannot admit we’re wrong sometimes. We’re too proud and sometimes we invest way too much energy believing that we’re right. It just means that when the person who is wrong is each other, the shit well and truly hits the fan for us.
- You’ve been so busy and stressed lately. I understand that. But you came home ranting about a man I’ve never met in an office I’ve never visited. I can’t fight your battles for you and you sure as hell would never let me. And I can’t always assume you’re in the right.
- I have no doubt that your colleague is a grade-A arsehole with an IQ worse than a toddler. I have met many a person who fits that mould perfectly so I don’t doubt for a second someone like that could be hired to work alongside you. But I cannot join you in criticising someone I’ve never met.
- It was never telling you that you were wrong. It was my attempt, albeit stupidly so, to remain neutral. [frustrated] But you are so… so fucking headstrong that even a neutral stance is opposing you in your eyes. *sighs* I was never going to win, was I?
- I mean if you wanted a lover to respond with “yes dear” to everything you say, you made a fatal error in shacking up with me.
- I know you would never admit it, but you are exhausted, my love. You have been in that office everyday way before 9 and leaving way after 5. Your bosses have set the most impossible expectations on you and your team and you’ve dealt with it so well, but everyone has their limit. Even you, my lovely terminator robot. *quietly laughs*
- I didn’t fare well in my argument. My choice of words couldn’t have been worse. You are not difficult. You just… you don’t always see everyone else’s point of view bar your own. And when someone, be that me or quite possibly your colleagues, try and reason with you, you build up your walls and there is just no getting through. Maybe that is difficult, but you hate that word.
- Maybe some sleep and some tlc will calm that stressed mind of yours. You have the whole weekend to defuse and just relax. And if you forgive me, I will do anything to help you. You know I will. You may be so tired that you couldn't help but fight and storm out and cry yourself to sleep but I am always here. You are frustrated at the world. I would be too. But you are not alone.
- I'll say this here only because I know you won't roll your eyes at me or try and jab my ribs. But that fire, that stubborn energy you have. It makes our sex so much better. And that's not just our make-up sex. [admiringly] I just see that fire in your eyes and I just get so much more determined to make you cum. I just can't allow that energy to go to waste. You set the challenge for me to meet your energy, to make you feel incredible and... *quiet slight moan* fuck it takes everything from me to meet your challenge. You are insatiable when that fiery look is in your eyes. And I know that there is not a single thing that will take me away from you in that moment.
- I hope you forgive me sooner rather than later, baby. We've not had sex in over a week because of your work and you being so tired and stress and that's a challenge in itself. You have no idea how patient I have been. I want you more than anything and a silly fight won't change my love, or lust, for you. I want to make it up to you in so many ways.
- I want to give you the perfect weekend. I want to take away the stresses you have. I said I can't fight your battles for you, but I can do everything I can once you’re under this roof to take your mind off of those battles. No more mentions of work during the weekend. No Sunday night anxiety. No more Friday nights coming home to tell me the latest drama or argument and then leaving the room in a red mist whenever I choose the decent thing to not criticise a complete stranger. None of that.
- I love you more than I could ever sum up in words. A silly fight could never take that away. I confess maybe I haven't been the best at convincing you of that. I guess I've been scared of how to navigate your stressed-out moods. I never want to make them worse. And I definitely don't want you to think that I've stopped loving you or that your stresses are getting to me. I know that you don't always want to be held and at work, I can't always call but I'll do better. Even if it's a small kiss on the cheek or a text to reassure you I'm still here for you and I still love you, I will do that.
- I think tomorrow we will need to talk once and for all about this work issue. We need to stop it ruining our time together. And it is starting to affect you. I hate to see you so wound up. It's not my perfect idea of a Saturday but I want to make sure that no other Saturdays are ruined by your colleagues and bosses.
- *yawns* I think it's time for some sleep. At least before you realise, I'm here and possibly kick me back to the couch. I will tell you as many times as you need me to, but I love you. Even when you think you're right and you're 100% wrong, I will love you anyway.
- Goodnight baby
