  3. <HabeusKaiju>: It's a change of scenery for once, as Amos and Flipside stand at the back of an alleyway, in the downtown Glasgow. Here, it is said, is the secret entrance to a magical bar, where mythical creatures, and wizard casters alike get together, and drink their woes away. Hoping to figure out the link between Lamia, and the artifacts he is gathering, they need only-
  4. <HabeusKaiju>: to rap on three distinct bricks, before accessing the dwelling within
  5. <Flipside>: "You remember which bricks they are, right? Last time I was here I wasn't even allowed to drink."
  6. <Amos>: "I think a friend of mine went here. He got stabbed" He tapped his chin, looking over the wall in front of him before tapping the three that seemed like the pattern he remembered.
  7. <Flipside>: "What was it that stabbed him? Was it an elf? They tend to go for knives when shit is talked."
  8. <Amos>: "It had to have been an elf"
  9. <Flipside>: "Around elves, watch yourselves? Man, these days that old slur's been truer than ever. After the treaty with gnomes their whole operation went to shit."
  10. <Flipside>: "Unless you're a polar elf, those guys are nice. Stable work does that to your attitude."
  11. <HabeusKaiju>: As he does so, the wall slowly parts away, the bricks assembling themselves on the side of the walls, opening up to a set of stairs, leading to a door. On the door, a neon sign reads "Madame Zanzibar", flickering dimly. Inside, you hear chatter, and the smell of cheap cigarettes fill your noises
  12. <Amos>: "Even with magic they can't get the damn electricity going right" He takes a whiff and steps down the stairs.
  13. <Flipside>: "Heh, they've never been good with anything involving tech. Give 'em a broom over a car any day." she chuckled, following down after Amos.
  14. <HabeusKaiju>: A slot on the door appears, as a pair of beady eyes gaze out towards the two. "Who goes there?!", the voice asks, with the familiar snarl of a goblin hidden behind it
  15. <Flipside>: "Customers, quite obviously. When did security on this place tighten?"
  16. Amos takes a sigh, baring his fangs a little bit and allowing the second set of eyes appear on his forehead for a brief moment. "Yeah, this is the spot for things like us, yeh?"
  17. <HabeusKaiju>: "Since someone got stabbed here. any weapons, prepared spells, or enchantments on you?"
  18. <Flipside>: "Oh darn, I left my copy of 'Ancient Grimoire of the Many-Angled Ones' at home. It would have gone great with some red wine." she said in a joking tone, patting her pockets.
  19. <Amos>: "Ha. I knew he wasn't bullshitting" Amos internally counts that as a won bet, despite forgetting who he was betting against. "We're clean"
  20.
  21. <HabeusKaiju>: He grumbles, as he slides the slot closes, it magically disappearing. The sound of him jumping on the ground, and the movement of a stool can be heard on the other side. it wooshes open, as the cigarette smoke escapes pass them, creating small smoke creatures, gnashing at the air, before dissipating. Inside, you see a myriad of folks, ranging from ogres, banshees, and even a gargoyle. A group of rather rambunctious Dullahans sit in a booth in the back, drinking heavily, singing loudly, and cheering for the sports team on the television. the bartender, a satyr, rinses a glass in the sink.
  22.
  23. <Flipside>: "Huh, last time I was here it was an Atlantean running the bar. That was a couple years ago though..." she muttered, looking around. "So, who were we looking for again?"
  24. Amos keeps his eye out for elves. His first reaction in a place like this was to get straight to the hooch, it seemed. "We're fishing for just about any info we can on the relics and whoever knows about them. Knowing you it shouldn't be too hard" The bogeyman figured he'd start with the bartender for several reasons, only one of them legitimate.
  25. <Flipside>: "Okay, he's a satyr, they're not known for being the most serious of types. At least he's not a centaur, so he won't immediately try to get in our pants."
  26. <HabeusKaiju>: the satyr, dressed in a t-shirt, and smock, rubs at the glass, spitting in it to finish the cleaning. "Lady, I wouldn't want to get in your pants, you can trust me on that"
  27. <Amos>: "Already off to a bad start" James leaned on the counter. "Lets just get this part out of the way. How much for the usual grog?"
  28. <HabeusKaiju>: "5 bucks for a pint, we enforce a two drink minimum here, tips are welcomed. No debit, credit, visa, cheques, or I.O.U.'s, hard cash only"
  29. <Flipside>: "Pint of what, or is there no choice in this?"
  30. <HabeusKaiju>: "the house brew. nutty taste, with a strong afterbite. Call it Pan's Absinth."
  31. <Flipside>: "How long you been here, mate? Ain't no one in this town what says 'bucks'. It's 'quid' or 'fiver' round here, buddy boy."
  32. <HabeusKaiju>: "Long enough to know not to correct the man who serves you brew. Do you want the beer, or are you guys gonna comment on my pouring technique as well?"
  33. Amos internally counted the people in the room in his head. "Then I'll order up one pint for every person in the room" James smiled as he said it.
  34. <Flipside>: "Lay off it, I'm fuckin- James, what on ea- oh, right. Make it two, we'll stick to the rules here."
  35. <HabeusKaiju>: there is around 20 people in this bar, who cheer at the news of free beer, raising mugs skywards in congratulations
  36. <Amos>: "Oh, right. Two pints for everybody"
  37. <HabeusKaiju>: The satyr sighs, as he begins to get the drinks ready. "What's the occasion, big spender?"
  38. <Flipside>: "Make 'em big too, we're talking Ogre portions here." she grinned, leaning her arms on the bar.
  39. <Amos>: "I have money to throw around, feeling charitable. Might want to learn a few things." He placed the money on the table, calculated in his head, alongside a rather impressive tip.
  40. <HabeusKaiju>: The goatman raises an eyebrow. "Learn things? What /kind/ of things you trying to learn around here, mister?
  41. <Amos>: "Just thought that some people around here could clarify some rumors for me. Nothing illicit, I promise"
  42. <Flipside>: "Just the usual rumor mill, y'know what it's like buddy."
  43. <HabeusKaiju>: "Well, it just depends, what kind of rumours. Nothing involving my establishment, right?"
  44. <Amos>: "I would never put your fine establishment in doubt. I just know there's a lot of unique types that pass through here, and they tend to know unique things"
  45. <Flipside>: "Nah, nothing that would put you in bad standing." she said with a small grin.
  46. <Flipside>: [lil' pun on satyr's stance :^)]
  47. <HabeusKaiju>: "Well, listen, if you don't put any bad reviews in for me, to any looming ears, I can help you out. guy in the back, goes by Reaves, he might be able to steer you on the right path"
  48. <Amos>: "That's all we need to know. I'll make sure this place gets some good rep, I know people" James took his own two pints and took a long gulp.
  49. <Flipside>: "Yeah, cheers." she added, taking her pint and sipping slowly.
  50. <HabeusKaiju>: He nods, and points towards a man, in the corner. Wearing a brown trenchcoat, he inhales on his cigar, afterwards downing a shot, and wiping at his mouth, before resuming the smoke. He seems to have a solemn look on his face, staring off into space, and nothing in general
  51. Amos is quickly done with that, letting out a sigh of refreshment as he then turned his eyes to what he assumed to be Reaves. He took a few confident steps until he was standing right by him. "Just the man we wanted to see"
  52. <HabeusKaiju>: "Eh, what dya want, mate? Can't ya see i'm unwinding here?"
  53. <Amos>: "Won't take too much of your time, don't worry"
  54. <HabeusKaiju>: "Ya already have. If you wanna continue though, then you might as well pull up a seat"
  55. <Flipside>: "Already taken too much? Is there something on your mind?"
  56. Amos pulled up seats for the both of them with some sneaky tendrils, sitting back
  57. <HabeusKaiju>: "Lots on my mind, don't care to explain it to you two. What brings you to my abode though, is the question"
  58. <Amos>: "The fact you got a lot on the mind. We're looking for some information, plain and simple"
  59. <HabeusKaiju>: "Past, present, or future?"
  60. <Flipside>: "Put simply, we're in the search of particular objects."
  61. <Flipside>: "Oh jeez, it's one of those /rambling/ types."
  62. <Amos>: "And exactly what they do"
  63. <HabeusKaiju>: "Not a rambling type, miss, just need the right ingredients for the right situation"
  64. <Flipside>: "...fine then. Our objects are from the past."
  65. <HabeusKaiju>: "By the sounds of it though, I'll need a shot of Nebraskan Whisky. You can chalk that up to payment for this session
  66. Amos sighed, deciding to be the one who gets up to get it. Swinging back around the corner he went back to the satyr. "Need more drinks. Nebraskan whiskey."
  67. <HabeusKaiju>: "Oh, looking into the past, eh? Nostlagic for the wonder years?" The satyr says, dryly, before sliding a shot glass towards Amos
  68. <Amos>: "I don't even think I get to have wonder years yet. I'm 23" He passed over the payment and brought back the man his drink.
  69. <HabeusKaiju>: the man slides it over in front of him, before looking at the two. "You will pay attention, understood? This will onyl work once for the situation, so, open your eyes." Reaves says, as he pulls a lighter from his coat, and flicks it on, touching the flame to the alcohol, as it erupts. A large tendril of flame erupts from the glass, as it circles back into it-
  70. <HabeusKaiju>: self, before disappearing. He quickly takes the shot, burning his throat a little as it goes down, he closes his eyes, and grits his teeth "Death. destruction. Rebirth. The demon returns, and the earth, razed. Zaccheus. Amos. Burn. Endowed. Stonehenge. Doom. Atrophy. Infinite." He holds a hand up to his mouth, and burps, before resuming the ritual
  71. <HabeusKaiju>: "your little hellraiser seems to be bringing something back, eh? Something not meant to return?
  72. Amos frowned. "I've gathered as much, I think"
  73. <Flipside>: "Hellraiser?"
  74. <Flipside>: "/Our/ hellraiser."
  75. <HabeusKaiju>: "Also, little extra. Motorcycle. Run" Reaves says, gulping back his drink, and flipping the collar up, slinking towards the backdoor "Now"
  76. <Flipside>: "...wait, did he say... run?"
  77. Amos immediately jolted up, holding onto Flip's arm to bring her up too. "I think that's all we need. Run."
  78. <HabeusKaiju>: As he exits out the back door, a loud knock comes from the front door, as the goblin drags his stool to it, and props himself up. As he slides open the slot, a gun pops through, and aims itself at the goblin's face. "Magistrates. Open up!"
  79. <Flipside>: "Whoa now, not good. Let's, uh... run." she said, grabbing James' hand and running through the back door. "You know how to drive a cycle, right?"
  80. <Amos>: "It can be done" Was't definite, but really anything would work as they attempted to make a quick escape.
  81. <HabeusKaiju>: The door is opened quickly, the goblin quivering, as a squad of three large men come in, aiming the guns around
  82. <HabeusKaiju>: "Everyone freeze!"
  83. Flipside is pulling Amos through the door, bolting down the alley with him. "Alright, all the motorcycles are /missing/ their keys!" she shouted, snatching a ring of keys that show up right in her face.
  84. Amos implicitly hopes that buying everybody two pints makes them at least loyal enough to not snitch on them. He made a beeline for the first motorcycle that could be found around there.
  85. Flipside hands Amos the ring of keys along the way, quickly turning it into a skeleton key with her powers.
  86. <HabeusKaiju>: the largest, and burliest of the three men notices Amos and Flipside sneak out the back door, and began to make haste after them, busting down the backdoor, and aiming his gun at them. He is dressed in a tracksuit, with metallic protection, and, a large, ornate helmet on him, covering the top half of his face
  87. <HabeusKaiju>: "FREEZE, SCUM!"
  88. <Flipside>: "Oh sorry what was that I couldn't hear you over-" she stops, grabbing one end of a dumpster and rolling it out, tipping it over and continuing down the path.
  89. Amos quickly took one that sat idly in front of a diner, putting in the key and revving up the engine as she pulled Flipside on back of it.
  90. <HabeusKaiju>: "THIS IS FINAL WARNING, STAND DOWN, OR, I WILL EXECUTE LETHAL FORCE!"
  91. <Flipside>: "MOVEMOVEMOVE!"
  92. Amos floored it, zipping off down the street as fast as he could.
  93. <HabeusKaiju>: The man raises the gun, and aims at the motorcycle. "Spectralseeking!" He says firing the gun, as it begins to zip after Amos, honing in on him
  94. <Flipside>: "Oh jeez, why magic? Uh, the bullet /is/ chasing us!"
  95. <HabeusKaiju>: the bullet zips off, and crashes into a trash can. the scowling magistrate is unimpressed by this action. "Unregistered chaos magic user, riding a stolen officer motorcycle, with an unregistered Boogeyman, while fleeing an officer of the law, that'll be 45 years in detainment, scum"
  96. Amos turns several sharp corners, it probably being a miracle he hasn't crashed into anything. Anywhere that would get them away from here.
  97. <HabeusKaiju>: The man begins to chase after them, sprinting down the streets after them, making sure not to lose sight of them
  98. <Flipside>: "Gotta be somewhere we can go..." she muttered, thinking as she clung tighter to Amos, reminding him to be careful.
  99. <Amos>: "...You might want to hold on tighter, I have an idea" James pulled a charm from his neck. "And its going to be insane" With that, he slammed the little hex onto the cycle, it seeming to take on a life of its own and gain a set of extremely gripping tires.
  100. <Flipside>: "Oh jeez, I think I already have an idea."
  101. <HabeusKaiju>: Prime Magistrate Dume rounds the corner, skidding behind them, and aims once more, firing bullets towards them
  102. Amos pulled back on the handlebars, the bike contorting itself to leap like a frog all the way up to the top of a building. From there it kept jetting along rooftops.
  103. <HabeusKaiju>: "Perps clear of civilians, activating self destruct mechanism" He says, as he taps on his wrist. Amos seems to notice that the bike is starting to beep
  104. <Flipside>: "Uh, James? That beeping..."
  105. Amos looked at the bike blankly, trying to think of how he can get out of thi- THAT'S IT! James actually speeds up, heading to the top of a particularly tall building and driving right off the side of it. With Flipside holding on, and forgetting to warn her, he jumps off the bike and replaces his arms with wings, using the momentum to glide away from it
  106. <HabeusKaiju>: Magistrate Dume frowns once again, aiming his gun at the two, firing off more bullets, aiming to clip Amos's wings
  107. <Flipside>: "Let's uh, oh right, the bullets /can/ hit us!"
  108. Amos does his second trick of the night, marked down as the most underutilized ability he has. While gliding he takes a deep breath, then exhales a massive cloud of fog that fills the air around them and slowly begins to settle down over the city.
  109. <HabeusKaiju>: "Drok" the officer says, the motorbike exploding on a nearby rooftop, as he walks the street, trying to salvage any clues he can get from the bike, seeing as he won't be able to catch these criminals today
  110. Amos eventually lands on the outskirts of town, letting down Flipside gently as his wings transform back into arms.
  111. <HabeusKaiju>: They seem to have landed near a creek, as the frightened look of two fisherman, scrambling away from the scene, is the only human they can see for a while around
  112. <Flipside>: "Well, that was... different."
  113. <Amos>: "We got out alive, at least. What the hell are the magistrates doing running after us?"
  114. <Flipside>: "I don't know, but it's enough to make me worry."
  115. <Flipside>: "They don't send armed Magistrates after people who are unregistered."
  116. <Amos>: "Maybe we stuck our noses in something they don't want us to. I at least managed to right down the gibberish he said. A- Wait, you alright?" He was too busy ensuring their escape to see if she had got hit in the hail of bullets.
  117. <HabeusKaiju>: The newest force of magistrates could be related to the election of Prime Magistrate Dume, who seeks to authorized harsher sentences, and lethal force when applicable
  118. <Flipside>: "Oh, I'm fine. Just a little rattled, is all."
  119. <Amos>: "Good. I think we got all that we could get here, at least. Hopefully we didn't just make a new enemy in this big scheme"
  120. Amos only now remembers his name was among the big list of words. This isn't looking good
  121. <HabeusKaiju>: Little did they know, they totally did. Fortunately though, they escaped the grasp of Jud-I mean, Magistrate Dume for today. What the future will hold, only a certain someone will know
  122. <Flipside>: "So, think we should head back now? We should discuss this matter in depth, and scour the libraries for material."
  123. <Amos>: "True" The bar was also probably swarmed with magistrates, so his second idea wasn't viable. "They did mention Stonehenge, though. I get the feeling we're going to be coming around Britain again"
  124. <Flipside>: "I should imagine that's the case. Now, coffee's on me, for this entire mess and all that money."
  125. <Amos>: "Well, when you put it that way I can't really say no"
  126. <Flipside>: "Then let's get going, if we're quick enough we might even make it by yesterday. Time's funny like that, I love it."
  127. Amos couldn't argue with that, nodding with a smile as they went off to get coffee.
