  1. Another Monday, another GDQ came and went.
  2.
  3. So, real quick summary of whats to come. Wednesday, July 11th Im doing Rugrats Royal Ransom and TY 1 any% for Shadowcash marathon, and then that weekend is the 1545. I believe I'm doing my runs on two separate days, one Saturday the 14th, and one sunday the fifteenth. Get HYPE!
  4.
  5. Now then......SGDQ2018! Wish I was there, but it's all good. It looked great, and as always, I wanna let all of you know the sick runs that are imo a must see! So first, I will list the runs that are absolutely fantastic, followed by a list of runs that I think will be good, but I have yet to see. Gonna go in no particular order, so enjoy!
  6.
  7. Banjo-Tooie any%: The opening run of SGDQ2018, and a 1545 game ran by a 1545 runner! Banjo-Tooie is a really good speedrun and GDO gives the game the justice it deserves. Watching it was a great way to begin the marathon and a great way for me to learn more about the one 1545 game I know the least about.
  8.
  9. Spyro the Dragon any%: My favorite Spyro game immediately followed BT in SGDQ, and was run by another 1545 runner! Spyro 1 is a mostly simple speedrun, with one insanely difficult speedtrick right near the end. A perfect length run, any Spyro run is a good run!
  10.
  11. Rise of the Tomb Raider any%: Crazy out of bounds, and great commentary! Tomb Raider is a series that I wish I knew more about, but sadly have yet to take the time to enjoy. Watching this run though makes me wanna play!
  12.
  13. Metroid Samus Returns any%: Having never played a metroid game, I didn't expect to find this run captivating. Yet, I found myself intrigued by this run. Showcasing interesting skips for a 3DS game, this was an interesting run that I enjoyed more than I expected.
  14.
  15. Super Monkey Ball 2 Story Mode All Levels: There are a number of videogame series that I do not play much of, if at all, that I enjoy watching speedruns of. Super Monkey Ball being one of those, I always enjoy every Super Monkey Ball run I can see. The crazy strats and insane skill is wonderful to watch.
  16.
  17. Pepsiman cutscene%: Trust me, just watch this. PEPSIMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18.
  19. Getting Over it with Bennett Foddy glitchless%: A notoriously difficult game that takes most people upwards of hundreds of hours, done in 2 and a half minutes. The runner makes this game look so easy when it is anything but.
  20.
  21. Miner Ultra Adventures any%: Having never heard of this game until Nacho informed me of it, this is the pinnacle of a bad game. It looks terrible, controls terrible, and is so bad it is funny. Entertaining as hell for how bad it is.
  22.
  23. Yo! Noid 2 any%: Dominoes rabbit guy adventure game. What more do you want?
  24.
  25. Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures any%: Despite being a pac-man run, this was done by someone who was never really in the community. Nonetheless, once he got his run in, we got him more into the community. While I was hesitant on this game getting another viewing at a GDQ, PARTY MAN X made the run entertaining and look easy. He made the Pac-Man speedrun community proud.
  26.
  27. Strider any% race: Last GDQ featured a live tutorial of Strider, showing how easy the game was to learn. This GDQ, 3 runners, all whom learned the game from that live tutorial, raced onstage and truly proved that anybody can speedrun. While Strider is a game I know little about, it still was a good short race.
  28.
  29. The Legend of Zelda low% race: I don't know what it is about the original TLoZ, but I truly enjoy watching speedruns of it. This race was no exception. Watching the runners beat it with the bare minimum required was crazy.
  30.
  31. Super Mario Bros warpless race: A great race which was close until the end. Mario is always a good run. Plus, at the end one of the runners beats SMB1 any% one-handed, which is crazy!
  32.
  33. Super Mario Bros. 3 All Forts Race: So, having just seen this race right before typing this, I am actually a little emotional. Everyone needs to watch this run, but not for the reasons you'd expect. I don't want to go into details, but what i will say is that this race above all else showcases what speedrunning is all about in the end - working together, good sportsmanship, and trying to push a game to its potentials. If you watch any run/race on this list, watch this one, not for the game but for the sportsmanship.
  34.
  35. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 32 (48) tracks, 200cc items: Holy crap this was fast! Aeon pushed this game faster than I thought possible. I knew I wasn't that good at the game, but damn!
  36.
  37. SM64 70 Star race: You know me, I love me some SM64! Fantastic race by two high level runners.
  38.
  39. TLoZ: Wind Waker HD any%: I've always made fun of people who played Wind Waker, calling it ocean simulator. While I still stand by that, I now have a new appreciation for the speedrun at least. Full of crazy skips, fun movement, and overall another entertaining run to see.
  40.
  41. TASBOT Celeste: The only TASBOT run I've seen so far, While I did not understand a lot of what happened because I had not played Celeste, it didn't matter. With a runner on commentary, you can see how visibly shaken and stunned he is at what the TAS is able to do.
  42.
  43. Pokemon Blue/Yellow any% glitchless 2 games, 1 controller: Wow, just wow. One pokemon run is great. A race is awesome. This.....is literally mental. While (SPOILER FOR THE RUN) it is a little upsetting that Yellow did not finish right at the end, the run was still quite entertaining the entire way through.
  44.
  45. Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage 14 Talisman: Still love me some spyro runs! 2 Spyro runs in a GDQ was shocking to me, and I'm glad both delivered! Another 1545 game ran by a 1545 runner, this was a blast to see.
  46.
  47. Crash N. Sane Trilogy, Crash 1 any%: While I think I personally would prefer to see more speedruns of the originals than N. Sane trilogy at this point, this was still a really good run. Having failed to beat Crash 1 in under 3 hours just yesterday, I have respect for Cameron who did it in under 50 minutes. Great run of a hard game.
  48.
  49. New Super Mario Bros. 2 Warpless: While the game is one I don't pay too much attention to, this run was done by a streamer who I watch a lot of. Eddaket is usually a pokemon speedrunner, but having ran NSMB2 as well, got that into a GDQ. Seeing him do another GDQ run was awesome, and I know he had a great time.
  50.
  51. Undertale All Yellow Credits: Ugh, watching this makes me wanna play again! Undertale was still imo a little overhyped as a game, but the game has grown on me since i played it on stream. The speedrun is fun, and reliving the game is fun as well.
  52.
  53. Super Mario Maker 3v3 Blind Level Race: Great race, just watch. Amazing mario runners do very hard levels having never seen them before. What is not to love! Plus, even harder levels after cultivates into a difficult run of a difficult level blindfolded. Crazy stuff.
  54.
  55. TLoZ: Ocarina of Time Bingo: While I still wish pokemon got to debut bingo instead, Ocarina of Time's bingo showing was still good. They discussed the history of OoT bingo, what the runner was thinking as he chose a row, what couch was thinking, and how to start doing bingo yourself. Maybe next GDQ will have pokemon bingo?!?!?!
  56.
  57. Super Mario Odyssey any%: what else can I say? Odyssey is a fantastic game, maybe even (dare I say it?) the best Mario game ever released. With over a thousand runners, it took the speedrunning community by storm. And SGDQ showed the game ran by one of the best runners in the world. He did an amazingly flawless job, and showed how great the game is.
  58.
  59. Alright, here are some runs I have not seen but will soon, and think you guys should too!
