- This document will explain the basics of the concept.
- The basic goal of the game is to provide an experience to replicate the videogames, for this purpose the game features both monsters and hunters fighting the opposite group.
- Monster/Hunter
- These are the main cards of the game. They are double sided cards that feature a monster on the front, and a hunter on the back. A game requires 7 of these cards, and they are important for battling, and the win condition. We will first cover the monster side.
- The Monster Side features the following traits
- Name: The name on the top of the card.
- Card ID: A number to tell its product info, you can only have 1 card with the same ID in the monster/hunter deck.
- Element: This can be one of 5 Types; Fire, Water, Ice, Thunder, and Dragon. Each element is tied to a color. Red for Fire, Blue for Water, White for Ice, Yellow for Thunder and Purple for Dragon. Each element has its own gameplay niche, and is relevant for card effects. This is represented with an icon from the games being on the top left corner of the card.
- HP: This is the health. It is generally a 3 digit number from 100-200. If a monster's health is 0, it is KOed and sent to the Defeated Zone. It is located on the top right corner.
- Species: The monster's species in the Monster Hunter game lore. Can be relevant for card effects, especially attack cards.
- Attacks: The effects tied to the card. Each attack has 4 stats. Monsters by default have 2-3 attacks
- Cost: The number of Energy needed to be paid to use the attack. It is the the leftmost of the attack line. Attacks can be 0 cost.
- Body Part: The Body Part tied to the attack. If the body part symbol is disabled, the attack(s) associated with the part cannot be used. It is next to the cost.
- Effect: The effect, not all attacks have this. Apply the effect after the attack. In between Body Part and Damage.
- Damage: The amount of health the attack takes from the HP of a Hunter. Rightmost on the attack line.
- Body part symbols: The body parts a monster has for its attacks. Located the bottom right corner of the card. Can be disabled by effects of Hunter cards or their support.
- Hunter Cards: Due to overlap between the cards stats, "see monster info" will be used to mark if a stat is identical between the two types. Differences will be listed.
- Name: See monster info. This specifies if the Hunter armor corresponds to "Blademaster" or "Gunner". This is relevant for Weapon cards.
- Element: See Monster info.
- HP: See Monster info. Unlike Monsters, this tends to be in the two digit range from 80 to the low 3 digits.
- Motion Value (MV): The amount of damage the Hunter deals to a monster when it attacks or "engages" it. Below HP.
- Effects: In front of the effect they have a cost listed in parathesis, tied to how much energy needs to be paid.
- Weapon symbol: Each Hunter has a default weapon symbol, tied to effects. This symbol is replaced if they are equipped with a Weapon card.
- The subsequent card type info will be divided between those relevant to monsters, hunters, or both.
- Enhances
- They are used during the Monster phase.
- Enhancements have the following stats.
- Name: see Monster info.
- Card number: You can only have 3 cards of the same card number in the main deck.
- Cost: Top Right of card, on top of Element symbol. How much energy needs to be paid to use it.
- Element: See Monster info.
- Species: You can only use an Enhance card with the same species of the monster you have in play.
- Enhance Attacks: Always there. Enhance cards have the same effect text type written on monsters. They go underneath monsters to grant them more attacks. They can provide new body part symbols, or repair disabled symbols. A monster can only have 1 Enhance card underneath it at a time.
- Body Part Symbol(s): See Monster info.
