  1. Ignax N'Tarr sat before his cogitator, heavy, tense silence set all around him. He forced himself to break it:
  2. - I’m a Chaplain of the Salamanders chapter. A high priest of the Promethium cult. A veteran of the countless battles. I’ve proven my loyalty and strength dozen times over those 200 years of service.
  3. And yet he couldn’t shake the feeling of something being off, regarding the decision he was about to make. Ancient Chaplain shrugged his shoulders and thrown his gaze on the cogitator’s screen again. His current mission parameters were projected on the screen.
  4.
  5. Gladius-type frigate Guardian of the Forge and all of his crew, including designated squad. squad Nar'Takall are to proceed to the Pendulum system, to reinforce local garrison.
  6. Signed - Chapter master Tu'Shan.
  7.
  8. N'tarr knew from the latest Astropathic chatter that the system of question was being invaded by the huge ork WAAGH and that his Brothers, and brave human defenders of the Pendulum PDF and SDF could use any kind of help right now. And yet, he is about to abandon them, and defy his chapter master orders. That did not sit well with the Chaplain.
  9.
  10. Several hours ago Guardian of the Forge tore his way into the reality from the cursed Warp, to prepare for the next jump. As per usual procedure, once the disturbance created by the warp drive dissipated, ships astropath engaged in the scheduled session to try to receive messages that might have been sent during their travel. That’s when something went wrong. Hexagramatic wards on the walls of his chamber flared into life with the blinding light, and the astropath began to scream. Nobody on the ship could hear him from the sealed off chamber, and yet everyone felt uneasiness at this moment, and the librarian, brother Drygnirr recoiled, and nearly lost his footing, but recovered quickly, and sprinted towards the Astropath chamber.
  11.
  12. Ignax shook his head. and moved his hand over the cogitator controls, to play a trivid record from one of the Astropath chamber cameras.
  13.
  14. Chamber was in disarray, Wards on the walls were smoking, as did the astropath body. blood freely flown from what was left of his eyes, his mouth, his ears even through pores in his skin. Yet, the astropath was breathing. and somehow, N'tarr felt like if the astropath had the eyes, they would have met his own right now. like he planned for this moment. and yet, the 3 words that the dying human was going to muster would change a lot in the Caplain N'tarr world. Three words.
  15.
  16. Song of Entropy.
  17.
  18. He played this recording for several dozen times, since the incident. And still the name of the one of the 9 artefacts of Vulkan made him freeze in anticipation. Yes it was Forgefathers job to look for the artefacts, and yet.. N'tarr felt like he couldn’t pass this opportunity. A chance to bring his beloved Primarch’s return closer. He had to choose between his duty to the humans and his brothers in the Pendulum system, and what he saw as a duty to his Primarch.
  19.
  20. Astropaths and the brother Drygnirr traced origin of this astropathic scream to the planet named Sycorax. was it just passing through the planet, or was it its origin, N'tarr wasn’t sure. And yet he was about to risk branding himself and his battle brothers as renegades, by rejecting a direct order from their chapter master.
  21. Salamanders are known for their compassion towards humans, and yet, none of this is true for the Angels of Death, adeptus astartes. While human might be frail and require defence, the Emperors Angels of death were created to be pillars of strength, to hold the Imperium’s structure. To protect and withhold His vision. and His kingdom. there could be no weakness amidst astartes. And there would be no pity or compassion towards a brother that stumbled in his path. What he was about to do will brand him. Unless he’s right. Unless he will uncover a clue that will lead to the one of the Artifacts of the Vulcan...
  22.
  23. Loud blaring horn torn Ignax from his thoughts. A signal that its time to pray for him and his battle brothers. he raised from his chair, and prepared to leave. Yet his hand hesitated, and he pressed an icon on the cogitator table. a link to the Ship’s captain. One simple request sealed his decision in stone.
  24.
  25. - Captain, I require any kind of information you might have in your archives about the planet named Sycorax. And calculate the shortest path to the system in question. N'tarr out.
