STARTING ITEMS:

TRY TO GET A 2v2 LANE WITH A SUPPORT (as though you were an ad carry. Without a support char you are almost garunteed to lose your tower/game early.)
Mana Crystal + 2 health pots

If you're forced into a solo lane (don't take solo on purpose)
Doran's blade




FARMING:

Your base item will be a Tear of the Goddess, and you will need 595 gold after purchasing the Mana Crystal. B After getting 595 gold and return with Teleport (or just walk back if your enemy isn't pushing)

The problem with this is, your q is a mana sink. Ryze cannot farm Melee minions with his autoattack efficiently, so he either does it with q and has soraka replenish his mana

or he has janna just watch as he failsnipes those damn melee minions hoping for a kill. Doran's blade gives you a bit more survivability (not much) and allows him to successfully farm

 melee minions without the mana sinkage from q.



HARASSING:

Harass with Ryze's autoattack when the enemy puts themselves within your range. You will be surprised at how well you can work with his 50 ad (60 with doran's blade)

When the enemy tries to harass: autoattack, q, autoattack and back off. That's 140 damage at level 1 near instantly.

Q->W->Q->W->E->Q->R

BUILD FOR DIFFERENT ROLES:

Ryze can fulfill a few roles on a team and whatever role you choose is fine.

ROAMER:  Tear of the Goddess, Boots of Mobility, Catalyst, 10x8³² wards

TANK: Tear of the Goddess, Mercury's Treads, Catalyst, 10x8³² wards, Warden's Mail

TANKY DPS: Tear of the Goddess, Sorcerer's Shoes, Catalyst, 10x8³² wards, Glacial Shroud

End-game items will always be: Tear of the Goddess, Level 2 Boots, Banshee's Veil, 10x8³² wards, FH/Randuins, Catalyst
