 ➳ zhennan’s mother supports him being gay but his father is still obsessed with turning the boy into a ‘man’ and forces the boy to do hard labor and do ‘manly’ things to try and stop him being gay - like that would work.
➳ zhennan has a disturbingly large collection of succulents that he is worryingly attached to and he likes to give them weird and punny names like ‘sir pokes-a-lot’, ‘cactus everdeen’, ‘mc hammer’, ‘spikey mcspikeface’, and ‘free hugs’.
➳ zhennan has some major insecurities about his personality, he knows he is attractive but because his father is always trying to change him and belittling him for being who he is he has developed a complex about being himself. Being the stubborn person that he is, zhennan tries not to let that stop him and often succeeds, even going so far as to act even more stereotypically ‘gay’ just to annoy his father.
➳ zhennan wears kitten heels, makeup and a lot of accessories when he is out to stand up to his father but he is still too afraid to actually talk back to the man - he tried that method a lot when he was younger and it never ended well for him.
➳ zhennan has the ability to stop any electrical cord from working after a couple of weeks with it, no one has any clue how he does it but his headphones and charging cables all stop working pretty quickly after he gets them so nobody lends him any.
➳ zhennan takes acting classes and is actually really good at it. Back in china he was in a couple of low budget small town cfs but he was mainly chosen for looks as the parts didn’t really require acting talent
➳ zhennan can speak cantonese and mandarin fluently and he is currently learning korean - he is really struggling with the language and often makes some stupid but very endearing mistakes
➳ zhennan has naturally thick and unruly curly hair and he often changes up the color and style of it - one day he is sporting curly brown hair and the next he has black bangs.
➳ zhennan has an unfounded fear of the dentists - he has a recurring nightmare that they will knock him out and steal all his teeth without his permission
➳ when zhennan is sick or upset he binge watches barbie movies - he is very embarrassed about this
➳ zhennan has a worrying obsession with apink - if he has headphones in he is listening to their music and probably dancing or singing along.
➳ whilst zhennan has a very specific style of dark colors, long coats, turtle necks and short-sleeved t-shirts he also loves playing with silhouettes and a bold pattern.. He wears a slightly more androgynous style and often looks like he stepped out of one of those ‘imagine [ insert kpop boy here ] in this’ posts.
➳ zhennan likes using bad pick-up lines on people and telling bad dad-jokes and puns. He is also very clingy and loves skinship with people he likes both romantically and platonically
➳ when zhennan is trying to hide his emotions he blinks hard and often, especially if he is trying to control his anger.

⌜ p e r s o n a l i t y ⌟

⇥ confident + insecure ⇤
	Zhennan seems very confident and in a lot of ways he is, he knows he is attractive and a talented actor. He knows that he is charismatic but he is ultimately insecure about the core of who he is, when you strip away his looks and talents he hates the person he sees. In reality his confidence is to cover up the crippling insecurities he has developed after years of being told he isn’t good enough by his father, after years of being told he was an abomination and disgusting. This doesn’t stop him from acting the part of the completely confident, if not arrogant, person who knows who they are and isn’t afraid to show that off to the world but at home it is another story. At home he is shoved into the mold of who his father wants him to be. Pretending to be confident outside of his house is a coping mechanism for Zhennan, it makes him forget about his insecurities for a while - he forgets that he isn’t that confident, that he isn’t happy with himself.

⇥ caring + protective ⇤
	Zhennan is very sweet, he hates seeing people in pain or upset and tries his best to make everyone around him feel better. He finds comfort in taking care of others. Zhennan helps out whenever he can and is often used because of it. He has the backs of those he loves and thanks to his blunt nature he isn’t afraid to tell them when he thinks they are screwing up. Zhennan is more than willing to stab someone if they hurt his friends and he isn’t afraid to stand up for his friends even though he is too scared to stand up for himself. If you ever need to hide a body you could trust Zhennan to help you out.

⇥ flirty + charismatic ⇤
	Zhennan flirts with everybody, boy or girl, 18 or 50, EVERYBODY. He just likes to see people smile and have made their day better. Zhennan likes to use shitty pick-up lines on his friends and makes over exaggerated flirty gestures and faces to go along with them.  Zhennan has a magnetic and charming personality that makes some people eager to be his friend and makes others hate and envy him. He has  a sort of ‘greater than thou’ aura that causes people to idolize him easily even though he is probably not the best person to look up to or chase after. Zhennan’s charisma is boosted a lot by his incredible looks and causes a lot of girls to chase after him even though he isn’t interested.

⇥ blunt + stubborn ⇤
	Zhennan doesn’t sugar coat things. He says what he thinks and doesn’t have much of a filter, because of this people can often think that he is rude or harsh when really he is just telling the truth. He never intends to hurt people, he is actually a really nice person, he just doesn’t have a grasp on the rules of social etiquette. His father never held back his words and Zhennan didn’t have a lot of social interaction as a young boy so he doesn’t really understand why he shouldn’t say some of the things he does. When Zhennan has an idea he gets very attached to it and doesn’t like others changing it or questioning him. This can make him very obstinate which isn’t the best thing when working in a team. However, he does listen to and can be led by people he respects.

⇥ stoic + independent ⇤
	Despite his wish to as unlike his father as possible zhennan shares one trait with him, his stoicness. Zhennan grew up with a father figure who never showed emotion and it rubbed off on the boy. He struggles to open up to people or share his emotions not because he doesn’t want to but because he doesn’t really understand how - he never really saw his parents do it. On top of this his father always punished him when he got to emotional so he has come to associate opening up and being emotion with pain and punishment. As an only child who was on his own a lot Zhennan has become very independent, he can do things on his own and works very well alone. Because of growing up pretty much on his own Zhennan craves connection, he wants to be loved and be in the company of those he cares about all the time.

⌜ b a c k g r o u n d ⌟
	Zhennan was born in Guangzhou, China on January 8th 2000 to Huang Haitao and Guan Meizhen. He grew up in relative luxury, his father being a diplomat and his mother a ceo. He never really wanted for any physical thing, he had all the toys, books and gaming consoles a young boy could want but he never really got the emotional support he desired. His mother, whilst caring and supportive when she was home, couldn’t always be there for him, she had a business to run after all and his father was always distant, being of the mindset that emotions were weak and ‘feminine’ - the worst thing to be in Haitao’s mind. The family moved to Beijing when Zhennan was about 8 years old because his mother was opening a headquarters for her business there. Zhennan got into acting a bit and scored some minor roles in CFs. He enjoyed life in Beijing and made quite a few friends whom he loved a lot. As Zhennan grew up he began to realize that he wasn’t like his father. He didn’t want to work a 9-5 job, he didn’t want to live without emotion and most of all he didn’t want to marry a woman. He liked men. Zhennan didn’t tell anyone about this realization, he didn’t want to believe it at first but he knew it was real, he had always known. This terrified him because he knew he wouldn’t be accepted in his home and he didn’t know if his friends would accept him either, he felt like an outsider in his own home, in his own friend group. He started to get really into acting and music around this time, they were escapes for him, when he was acting he could pretend to be someone else, he could become someone else. He listened mostly to Apink’s music, he really loved their style and the girls, his father assumed this was because he was attracted to them and zhennan let him believe that, it was safer that explaining his love for them to his father. One day, though, he couldn’t stop himself. He was tired of hiding himself from them so he came out. His father didn’t react much but Zhennan could tell he was beyond mad, Haitao sent the boy to his room and then pretended nothing had happened but he changed, he was home more but it wasn’t in a supportive way - he was watching Zhennan and trying his hardest to change the boy, to make him a ‘man’. Zhennan’s mother reacted differently she was supportive of Zhennan because he was her son and she loved him no matter what. When Haitao was offered a position as high commissioner to south korea he jumped on the opportunity. In the old man’s mind Zhennan had been corrupted by his friends and acting community in China and so the move to Seoul would break him from that environment and return him to the boy he used to be - the boy that was a lie.

➳ zhennan coming home later than anticipated and his father already being home and yelling at zhennan because he was wearing makeup and kitten heeled boots which he is not ‘allowed’ to wear. Zhennan tries to stand up to him but is quickly shut down and he calls jeno when he is alone and they talk about it.
➳ zhennan’s mother being really supportive and them having a discussion about boys and zhennan mentioning jeno and his mother teasing him about it and then giving him some advice
➳ zhennan having to go and chop wood or paint a fence or something along those lines as punishment for doing something his father deemed ‘un-manly’ like wearing makeup or jewelry that his father doesn’t condone.

  ⌜ l o v e   i n t e r e s  t ⌟
➳ jeno meeting zhennan’s parents and seeing just how badly his father treats to and talks to the boy. It would be great if this happens before zhennan really opens up about his father so it pushes the boy to open up to jeno.
➳ zhennan being sick and binging barbie movies when jeno shows up with medicine and fried chicken - he knows zhennan too well. Instead of making fun of zhennan for watching barbie movies Jeno just curls up with the boy and feeds him as they watch the movies together.
➳ jeno and zhennan having a bit of an argument and it ending with jeno pulling zhennan into a kiss. They haven’t confessed to each other yet or kissed before so this is a bit of a surprise to both of them and they confess shortly after this
➳ jeno helping zhennan with his korean and playing fun learning games with him and laughing at all of the boys cute mistakes. Zhennan pouts and Jeno giggles, hugging him and apologizing for laughing and explaining that it’s just because zhennan was so damn cute.
➳ before their confessions, zhennan and jeno running through a romantic scene together for zhennan’s acting class and there being a lot of tension between the two.
