New Nervous Friend

"AAUGH!"

Loan fumbled out of her bed. She had no idea what time it was or even the date. Nothing new there, but she did wonder what that scream was just now? She waddled off the floor and over to the window. She squinted at the sight but she was able to make out the familiar skinny shape of her little sister Liby hunched up in the corner of the yard. And a few of her other kin trying to get to her but keeping their distance. She slowly walked out of her room and made her way to the backyard.

Squinting at the glare of the sun she looked over the backyard banister to see a handful of siblings arguing over something, while Liby still hugged the fench. She looked so scared. Loan made walked down stairs of the porce casually listening in on the argument.

"Well get a bucket or something!" Lyra shouted at Lacy, physical shaken by the whole event.

"But what if it bites me?"

"We're not getting anything done arguing about this," Lupa said, not showing any kind of emotion at the moment but Loan could see her clenching her fist.

"Well, then you walk over their and grab it." Lyra shot back.

"I'm not getting bit." Lupa retorted,

They completely didn't notice that Loan was there at all, not surprising, she kinda of had that way of skulking around with quiet footsteps. She felt a small tug on her pajama pants and looked down to see Lizy with tears in her eyes. She wasn't sure she had any, but some sort of maternal instinct kicked and picked her up in her arms. Petting her had and holding her close. She asked what was wrong.

"I don' want them to hurt it." Loan didn't quite understand but never the less, she didn't want to see her siblings fight, scared, or cry.

She set Lizy down whipping away her sister's tear and walked past the trio, finally noticing her they tried to shout some kind of warning at her but she was laser focused and it all came out as muffled noise. She looked at Liby who was trying to tell to get back but she just shook her head and walked to the point of interest in the grass.

She knelt down and stared at it. And almost on instinct, it looked back up at her, shaking its tail harder then it was before. Trying to scare Loan away, threatening to pounce on her. But she didn't care, it all came out as numb to her, she slowly reached down and the rattling got harder and louder. Until she held her hand over its head, the rattling got quieter and Loan used her other hand to pick the little guy up.

Loan wondered how a rattlesnake manage to wander into her backyard? Probably trying out of the streets and cool out behind a tree and relax in the sun. Lacy used the opportunity to get Liby off the ground and practically carried her out of theirs. Lyra tried to tell Loan to chuck the thing out of her hand but Loan just lets the snake wrap around her arm. On the outside she was calmer then anyone had ever seen her, not just walking out of the house but actually picking a literal Rattlesnake. That because no one heard was going on inside her head.

Lizy ran up to Loan and she slowly put the snake inside of the cage taking it away and now with the snake gone Liby ran up to Loan and hugged her. Thanking her again and again. Lyra patting her on the back for a job well done but still scolding her for doing something that stupid. Lacy praising for being awesome int he moment. Even Lupa gave her a compliment.

"That was pretty badass Loan, you literally manhandled a snake." Loan thought about that for a moment.

"Yeah, I did, didn't I? Excuse me." She fell to her knees and passed out in the grass.

"Holy crap did it bite her?" Lacy said.

"Nope she just fainted."
