  1. >"Commander, what seems to be the matter? Sensors indicate your heart rate is at an elevated level whenever we're in the room together."
  2. >Dammit, maybe this wasn't such a good idea.
  3. >You get up and grab a rag, motioning for her to come over so you can wipe off the come-hither stare you drew on her while she was shut off.
  4. >You press too hard on her chin while you're cupping her head, and you hear something click.
  5. >"Commander~?" she says, voice pitch and meter shifting strangely, until she sounds breathless, "Do you wish to modify me further?"
  6. >Her voice strains at the end, pitching upward as she moves her hooves onto your knees to take a better position for you.
  7. >"Please, do as you see fit, Commander~."
  8.
  9. >Who the hell even installs a voice like that on a drone!?
  10. >You're flipping through the instruction manual as PQ-1 lies on her stomach, those bedroom eyes still staring unblinkingly at you whenever you look up from the book.
  11. >The list of voices includes one that surely is the one you're hearing now: "Sultry."
  12. >"Is the Commander dissatisfied?" she asks again, almost sadly despite the sensual nature of her tone, "What can I do to make it up to you?"
  13. >"You can change your voice to something less straining on me," you say quickly, looking down at the list of voices, "'Chipper' sounds good. Do that. Now. Please."
  14.
  15. >There's a brief whirring before she says, "Change completed! Does the Commander approve?"
  16. >She sounds like she should be bouncing around playfully instead of lying there.
  17. >"Yes. Much better. Now come here so I can wipe that darn look off your frame."
  18. >"Look? Did the Commander modify me during a rest period? May I see?"
  19. >"Negative!" you reply, quickly grabbing the rag and moving to wipe the expression from her chassis before the situation gets any more awkward.
  20. >God forbid she notice-
  21. >"Commander, your pants seem ill fitting."
  22. >Dammit!
  23.
  24. >"Commander, are you certain you're alright? You've been acting out of normal parameters for the last several hours, including marking then cleaning my chassis, then spending an inordinate amount of time in the restroom."
  25. >You nearly spit your tea in the drone's face in surprise, making her jump briefly.
  26. >"Commander! Are you okay? Do you need medical assistance?"
  27. >She darts into the air beside you, whirring intensifying as she hovers by your shoulder, then glides behind you. You feel her somewhat warm hooves touch your shoulders just before they start making small circles, pressing against the spots where your shoulder meets your neck gently.
  28. >The effect is immediate, and you feel yourself relaxing back into the chair as a soothing warmth comes from the drone's hooves.
  29. >"What....are you doing?" you ask softly, mouth seemingly not working properly.
  30. >"My assessment is that you are overtaxed by something you don't wish to share. In respect of your rank, I have decided not to inquire. I also overrode my protocol to keep distance in favor of a subroutine to help you relax. Strangely enough, it seems tied in with my emotion chip addition and...."
  31. >Your eyes are closed as you focus on the soothing heat being emitted from your drone, the words she speaks sort of fading away as you take deeper, steadier breaths.
  32.
  33. >You open your eyes slowly, stifling a yawn as you smack your lips and look about the living room.
  34. >There's a warmth lingering in your shoulders, but right now the warmest spot on your body feels like your lap....
  35. >You look down slowly, eyes running across the slender frame of your drone, who whirrs softly as she lies in your lap.
  36. >She's warm. It's like having an electric blanket on your legs. She doesn't feel like she weighs much like this, strangely enough.
  37. >You slowly put a hand on her head, and the whirring kicks up slightly as her ears twitch individually.
  38. >"Commander! You're awake. I hope I didn't disturb you."
  39.
  40. >"What made you get all cuddly so suddenly?" you ask softly, rubbing the top of her head idly without thinking, "And what was that earlier? A massage? How did you know how to do that?"
  41. >"You seemed stressed, as stated before. A subroutine in my system kicked off and I found it to fall under the core principle, so I initiated it. Some assumptions on your physiology were made, but it's well known that introducing a pleasantly warm heat source will-"
  42. >"Short and in English, please," you say with a grin.
  43. >"I helped you relax, and you began to sleep," she says bluntly, "When you began to sleep, I determined the best place for me was near you. And since a cool breeze is supposed to come in during this afternoon, and you left the window open, I determined keeping you warm was a priority."
  44. >She turns her head as if to look back at you, "Commander, why do you stroke my chassis?"
  45. >You stop, realizing you've been petting her this whole time.
  46. >"Uh...," you search for words to explain, when she suddenly beeps, lying her head back on your legs.
  47. >"D....Don't stop, if you please, Commander."
  48. >You blink a few times before continuing, rubbing the warm to the touch chassis of your drone pony as she heats your lap.
  49. >"I find this...enjoyable," she says in a tone that passes for a murmur before falling silent.
  50. >You find yourself smiling happily as you close your eyes and pet your drone, imagining you would look quite odd to any pony observing.
  51.
  52.
  53. >"Commander, could you refuel me again tonight? I want to be in top performance conditions for tomorrow."
  54. >Oh, that's right. You planned on taking her to the park tomorrow. For a "training exercise."
  55. >Better load her up before getting too comfy.
