Miss Li is back with her seventh full-length album, “Wolves”, (release 10th April) and as usual we are invited on a vertiginous trip. Initially, the plan was to make an album of unreleased works from 2007-2012, but this all changed during last winter and instead it became an album with nine entirely new songs.

“We listened through songs that yet for various reasons were not included on any album, and they felt really great, says Linda. But I also realized pretty quickly that this was not sufficient, because the songs no longer felt like me. It’s not where I am musically and emotionally right now. ”

Miss Li, often described as “the primordial force from Borlänge”, who almost constantly toured the world since she bought that piano for 7 years ago, has with her wayward music and special voice become one of Swedens biggest artists. Many of us probably associate Miss Li with cheerful pop and catchy melodies, but as we go deeper other sides are revealed, and those are the sides we’ll learn more of on the album “Wolves”.

“A close friend told me a story of a grandfather who was talking with his grandson. He told me about the constant struggle that went on within him and all people. A fight between two wolves – a good and an evil. The son sat for a while and thought about what his grandfather had told him, then he asked. But who wins then? His grandfather replied: The wolf that you feed!

A few days later producer and song writing partner Sonny Boy Gustafsson played an entirely new melody for me. It was the melody to what later would become “Spaceship”. On that exact moment all my thoughts fell into place, and I realized that I needed to grab that feeling and stick to it in order to get out of this feeling I had of being pushed underneath the surface.”

So the album was a bit like therapy, and what started out as a song, suddenly became a whole album. Sincere and straight forward. Dark yet hopeful .. “Wolves” therefore, quite exclusively deals with anxiety, love, self-loathing and dependence, but with the feeling that the negative spirals can all be turned around. The songs are co-written with Sonny Boy Gustafsson who is also the producer. The album was mixed by Lasse Marten (Lykke Li, Peter Bjorn & John, etc.). In that sense we are now looking forward to the Spring tour starting April 12:th which will extend over the summer festivals.
