What do you believe is your job as a Forum Moderator?: Mostly to keep the forums organized, in terms of closing and moving threads and keeping fighting/off-topic stuff to a minimum. I would be expected to hide posts that are involved in arguments/off topic conversations, close threads that have been finished if they were not already, and move them to the correct location (at least I think so, I could be wrong on what I know of the forum mods' powers). My job as a Forum Moderator would also to be active and keep up with the changes in the community so I can continue to act efficiently.
What made you apply?: I've been reflecting on my actions concerning Hearthigen, and I thought about where I was most "active", which is the forums. I don't think I post very frequently, but I am almost always browsing the forums multiple times a day and keeping up with threads being posted. I enjoy forum moderation and curation, and with previous experience, I believe that I could fulfill the expectations of this role, so I figured - why not?
I think it would be interesting to help out on these forums overall, and I think I could be a real asset. I'd love to help if possible, and why not do it where I find myself browsing most? I have Hearthigen open in a tab on my phone and it's also open in a tab on my browser when I'm home 80% of the time, so I like to think I'm around enough.
What qualities make you fit to be this role?: I have great judgement and patience. I know when it's appropriate to act, and a lot of the time, you have to take a lot of factors into consideration and carefully view a situation as it unfolds in order to act efficiently and quickly. I feel that I know when it's best to hide/remove posts, and when to stop arguments or conversations before it gets too hectic. On top of this, I have experience with forum moderation on an IPS forum (aka, these types of forums). I know how to move/hide/lock threads and posts already, assuming not much has been changed with the layout of the moderation actions. This experience also ensures that I wouldn't need much training, and I would be able to use that experience to make the best decisions in any situation.
What would be the best time to train you?: Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesdays: not until later into the day (after 6 PM EST); Saturdays: Available all day; All other days: Available all evening/afternoon (after 3)
Time on the Forums: I've been apart of the forums for 137 days as of this application, and if I had to judge, I think I'm on the forums for 2-4 hours per day, but I think I want to estimate more or less 100 hours.
Are you able to balance activity on our forums and servers?: Yes - I don't play on the servers.
When is it okay for you to delete a post?: When the post contributes nothing to the original thread, is inciting a fight, or is participating in a fight.
Have you ever done anything on the Forums you shouldn't have done?: Yes - I received a warning point a few months ago because of an issue I had with a previous staff member involving ratings. I also received a warning point (no punishment attached) for posting something insensitive, but the issue was resolved as it was more of a miscommunication and I'm not sure if the warning point should be considered.
