Abalone and Squid

Underneath Chinatown - Ebon Dragon's Nest(#3634RM)

	This cavernous subterranean space is old. Older than the warehouse above. More akin to a natural cave than a man made tunnel, it's then perhaps not that unusual that there's an aura of primordial power here. The temperature of this room drops several degrees from the one above, leaving the space perpetually cool and slightly damp. The Yin energies in here - cold, dark, overpowering - they run /strong/. Like a heavy pall draped over a tomb, the Yin touches /everything/ inside the space.

	In the center of the cavern? A circular pool, about ten feet in diameter, filled with a still and placid black liquid. The pool betrays no clues as to its depth.

	The space is sparsely furnished - A small altar. A pair of cots with pillows and blankets. A large wooden steamer trunk. A stainless steel medical table. And off to the side, a table and two benches carved of the same stone that makes up this cavern.

	The light of the Deadlands reveals that the whole space is entirely and thoroughly suffused with roiling Yin energies. Black blood of the earth bubbles up with the chaotic energies of the primordial Ebon Dragon Egg. No Ancestor Spirits dwell here, despite the obvious attraction that such a space might hold. One is inevitably likely left to wonder ... why?

	Danny is in the yin cavern, over by one of the stone tables. A few tablets of jade are set out. There's writing or markings on them, but not in any known language.

Jin comes down stairs carrying a bag of take out from the tea house, "Danny? I brought you dinner."

	Danny is on street clothes rather than his maoshan garb. He looks up and over at the sound of Jin's voice. An eyebrow arches. "Dinner?" His fingers run over one of the inscrutable jade tablets one last time and then he pulls himself away from the insurmountable task at hand, lured by the dulcet tones of the Laughing Rainbow's voice. And the scent of vittles! "Right," he says. "Dinner."

Jin shakes her head as she sets out the food, "One day you will tell me you don't really need to eat and you just let me do it cause it makes me happy."

	Danny restrains a grin, but only barely. "Well, I'm essentially an embodied jing shen these days, but. Food /does/ taste so good, and it /does/ make you so happy." He busies his hands with helping arrange the food on the table in a pleasing auspicious display. "Do we have any squid?"

	Jin smirks and shakes her head as she hands over a container of fried squid before settling herself in a set. "I do enjoy meals and I need to eat still...oddly enough."

	Danny nods, and fixes himself a small plate of assorted, tasty items. Only after he's selected morsels from the various options does he then produce a small unmarked box, sliding it over towards Jin. "Picked something up for you in Ensenada. It reminded me of you."

	Jin is never one to turned down gifts so of course she takes the box. Food set to the side now and works on opening the gift, "Something down there reminded you of me?"

	"I was salvaging some wreck on the ocean floor and then. Yeah." Danny then tucks into the squid and pretends not to be watching Jin as she fiddles with the box that holds the gift. After its opened, it will reveal a large teardrop shaped abalone pearl, shimmering iridescent even in the cavern's dim light.

	Jin's expression brightens as she smiles then turns leaning over to kiss the Sorcerer on the cheek. "Thank you Danny, I love it."

	The maoshan's pale cheeks will take on a bit of color after the kiss from Jin, and he'll offer a small nod between bites of fried squid. "You're welcome," he says, the two small words conveying that he is indeed pleased that the gift pleases her!

	Jin smiles, "All I got you was squid, now I have to think of a proper gift to express how happy you have made me."

	A smile gives way to a grin. "You underestimate the power of properly prepared fried squid," he retorts as he plucks a delectable morsel up from the plate with impossibly accurate chopsticks. Munching happily, he seems quite content.

	Jin stifles her laughter and nods, "Well then I suppose I mist keep you in good food."

	"The cold conflict between the Quincunx and the Bamboo Princes has taken on a more warm turn down that way," offers the maoshan as he finishes the last bite of squid. A shrug rolls across his broad shoulders. "Interesting times. I was hoping the jade tablets might contain insights, but. No such luck, at least not yet."

	Jin smiles softly, "Never truly do you take time off. Always working on something one would think the world constantly on the edge of revolution."

	Danny gives a rueful smile. "Well, a guy's gotta find ways to keep busy." Pushing his now empty plate forward, he makes to prepare a bit of tea. "A bone flower jina seems to be having their run of the place down there. At any rate, it'll keep things interesting for a bit."

	Jin settles with cleaning up after the meal before stretching out on her cot to read as Danny works. "Life is never dull around you."
